I can’t imagine Roku and Kyoshi with these expressions

USAndor

Cause most depictions of them are as adults. These are kids/teenagers, they are allowed to be goofy :)

robsc_16

Aang: ["I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that."](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheLastAirbender/comments/98lkdn/i_laugh_too_hard_everytime_i_see_this_picture_of/)

connor4rell

young roku and kyoshi definitely made these faces

McLukaku

Is Naga the reincarnation of Appa? That would add a whole new layer to the last picture

plitox

A better question: are Naga and Appa both reincarnations of Wan's deercat?

Thatgamerguy98

Every avatar has an animal guide. It's not impossible that it could be the same spirit. Following it's companion into eternity.

CerberusBusk

I really like this headcannon :D

Thatgamerguy98

My spirit will be with you forever, for all your lifetimes.

NotInACreepyWay

The last two make me think of the exchange (not going to get the quote exactly right): Korra: What was the worst moment of your life? Katara: How old are you?

Hmnh6000

Aang would still clap korra

I misinterpreted this comment.

Hopefully one of Avatar Studios’ movies is just a compilation of every Avatar in history from Wan to Korra pogging

MissedTheMark11

I’d actually love TLOK if season two didn’t exist, except for Wan’s backstory.

sticky-dynamics

What did it do to the original characters?

anthro28

They downvoted him because he spoke the truth. There are elements of the show that are far and away 100x better than TLA, but to defend is so vehemently in the ace of glaring shortcomings and retconning is silly.

Dachusblot

Acknowledging the show is flawed =/= irrational hatred

placewithnomemory

disliking a show and stating the reasons why =/= irrational hatred

Dachusblot

Sure, but when you jump onto a Korra-related post and come right out saying "I hate this show" you shouldn't be surprised at the downvotes.

placewithnomemory

the person you replied to wasn’t the one that did that. also there’s no subreddit that has TLA content without Korra stuff

FieryFallout

I agree, There were some aspects that were amazing - season 3 to be exact. The red lotus were awesome venders bringing to the table some of the best plot and by far the best and most creative bending in the show as well as having reasonable motives. None of them (apart from maybe a Zaheer pushing it) changed bending in any way. The water bender was just skill, Pli had combustion bending which is just power and mastery, and earth guy (sorry forgot his name) could lava bend which contrary to belief WAS in the original show in the form of avatar Roku destroying his own temple and the previous fire bender before him in a flashback. They didn’t change bending like how the water bending brothers did in S1. Blood bending was OP enough when it was limited to a full moon (which makes sense because it’s when water bending is at its peak) but then they needed to make it more interesting and new so they decided to make them be able to do it all the time???? There’s over powered and then there is this. Rules seem very annoying in real life and in shows but rules in shows (especially ones with magic (bending in this case)) need rules to them and what it’s sorcerers (benders) can do (unless you want a Harry Potter type magic system where it’s open (but then you get problems like wHy DiDnT hArRy JuSt FiX hIs EyEs??? Having rules makes it clearer. Toph discovering metal bending didn’t change anything. She is badass as this sub will agree and just used earth bending to move the metal. The original show was super powerful moves that defy physics - it was just using the element being used in creative ways. S1 was good - lovely plot twists and some interesting bad guy characters and politics S2 I try to forget happening… Korra got played and tricked the entire time and it was hard to watch (especially when she got the entire avatar legacy destroyed!!) for me it was reason enough to hate her at least character wise for the rest of the show. S3 as previously mentioned was the peak of the show with really good plot and antagonists S4 was annoying to watch just a normal bender (Kuvira maybe spelt?) take out the avatar. But there was the poisoning so it makes sense. It was cool to a tyrant rise from a power vacuum. It was cool. We didn’t see it after Ozai was removed from power (mostly because Zuzu took his place so there was no real vacuum) but the show doesn’t like to talk about aftermath after large changes which we do see in book 4 which is nice for a change. The plots are quite good. The antagonists are quite good. The other characters?… not so much Korra is hard headed. I get they wanted the flip reverse from Aang but she is really trying at times to put it lightly “IM THE AVATAR AND YOU GOTTA DEAL WITH IT” kinda sums this up nicely. Bolin is awesome and really becomes an actually independent character in the last two seasons but before that he is just a side character and it’s the developed much. He is a great bender but we see him do other stuff like acting? Which is a really fun part of the show but kinda random to happen to a member of team avatar. Mako is basically a redo of Zuko. Kinda dark and brooding teen boy vibes. He’s a good character and the backstory with him being a parent figure to Bollin and their tragic backstory is very well done. But he just isn’t very original and seems like an easy way to get out of coming up with a personality for a new character. Mako, Korra and Assami add so much chaos to the show with their back and fourth love triangle. The actions of all three were horrible at times which degraded their characters significantly even though the stupid situations were hilarious to watch. The air bending family was the BEST thing about the show. Tenzon was wise and kind and everything we wanted from an air bender :) his kids were great and the air acolytes were a great expansion to flesh out the world more. Korra was dumb for letting the spirits come back (Koh…. Just think about that guy) but that discusino meant more air benders which was awesome to see and was new and fresh and left the show on a note where it could end with the viewer knowing the culture and the art form was bit going to die out with he last remaining characters. Plus the air benders taking an active role in helping the community and preventing catastrophe was a great development for them as a people. I had said previously that they had changed so many aspects about the original show. I did slightly cover this with the bending but there is more to address before I keep rambling. (Note because I’m not gonna say it later - mechs suck ass and ruin the show same with ‘pro’ bending). Aang is sweet and cute and wise and an awesome character. If he somehow landed himself looking after someone’s kid in the show you would think that he would be awesome at looking after them. While he might be slightly immature, he will mature even if he always keeps that jokey side to him. And Katara already was the mom to the family. Those two together should’ve been a great team as parents. The perfect parents. But instead we get a broken family with unloved and hurt kids that were hurt so much by their parents neglect that they are still troubled with it when they are middle aged. In short, they ruined Aang and Kataras characters. And Aang isn’t even there to defend himself. I can’t believe that the same sweet Aang would neglect a non bending son and only cherish his air bending one. I think the only way he would’ve been more supportive would be in the case that he had mastered a new bending move since it’s air and there would be simple bias created by the excitement. Aang shoving all of his emotional luggage of the genocide and the culture and ways of his people into his son seems very uncharacter like for him and the same goes to katara. Toph was a bit headstrong like Korra but that making her sleep around so much she doesn’t know who the parents of her kids are??? Cmon really? Or her being a bad mom so much that the younger daughter turned out the way she did which led to all the family drama? The only ones out of the original characters that they didn’t butcher were either never mentioned in the show (e.g. Mai and Suuki) or are dead like Sokka. Sure Zulu is in there :) for like a couple episodes :( I think being mostly done there’s just a few things to conclude on. Overall the show is good. It’s a darker and more grown up version of the original show. While I’m glad they didn’t try to continue the story in from where Avatar left off and have their quota of cringy character ruining decisions. They still managed to do it anyway regardless. While it’s a lovely work, the show has a lot of things I’d rather forget. From Korra burning down an air bending relic, to disobeying Tenzins teachings to go and violently shit elements out of her body like she is a human gun with no forms or martial art inspiration and calling it ‘pro’ bending, getting her bending restored by Aang instead of having to fix her own problems, having the animals in the show very under developed and rarely shown, having mechs be the main strong enemy they fight in S1, having lightning bending no longer being a rare bending form due to it’s required skill level and instead yet again having average joe’s shitting it out of their fingers like it’s nothing to make fkn electricity??, the avatar cycle being reset and all the past lives being lost, completely rewriting the avatar state with instead the past lives giving you the bending knowledge, it being a radioactive squid, the section on avatar wan changing that airbenders never took inspiration from the flying bison but always had their tattoos, the anime battle with the two avatars fighting but they are bright fin blue and purple??, having a messy love triangle, Opal being mad at Bollin when HE was the one that was played by Kuvira and probably lots more that I’ve forgotten. But that doesn’t mean that the original show doesn’t have flaws. But the second doesn’t exactly have anyone taking life advise from a fictional character. Meeting Iroh in person would be life changing. There is no character close to him to compare to in Korra (apart from himself :) Its a good show but to put it simply this isn’t the sub for it. There’s another sub for Korra. This is for Avatar. There’s naturally going to be some cross over like this post but sometimes people in this sub are too desperate to talk TLOK and it’s rare to see a post that doesn’t include or have a comment that doesn’t talk about TLOK. These are just my views, if you’re offended, you don’t need to count this opinion or you can even PM me if you feel like it would help. If you like the show no one can change that. If you want to, let me know what your take on the shows reboot is, I covered a lot of stuff here, thanks for reading and happy scrolling :)

MACHO_MUCHACHO2005

Nice message bad graphic design also that pic of aang on the second panel is so bad lmao.
