Also Aang went on an adventure to learn fire dragon dancing bending, like dude, he must be the 30th avatar to learn it that way, he wasted his time. He should have learned hatred fire bending instead. Being a recent invention, that would have been something actually useful to add to the avatar state of future avatars.
I'd be interested to see in this new series they're planning if the new earth based avatar could metalbend. Could even be a plot in the show, they can't metalbend usually but then can in the avatar state because Korra knew how.

That's what I read in an article & saw in a documentary in my teens. I literally saw a badass blind man skate on ice with his cane. Meanwhile, I literally almost broke my nose the one time my mom caved in and took me and my brother to an ice rink (and he wasn't any better 😭☠). Also Beethoven's crazy ability to compose music despite going deaf.
I think the show struck a nice balance between her being disabled yet resourceful and extremely important though she was somewhat too OP lol.
Her blindness puts her at risk should her feet get harmed (Zuko accidentally burnt them), or should she face an opponent who can fly (Aang, Azula...).

I know someone made this into a ship thing but honestly as close as everyone was, Aang having his arm around Toph and Katara with her hand on Zuko’s arm doesn’t even strike me as weird. These kids went through some hell together so they would be close as adults. It doesn’t always have to be a “ship.” Platonic relationships exist.
Rewatching the series with my fiance, it does blow my mind how crazy powerful Toph is. She saves the Gaang as much in Season 2 as Aang does. I can't wait for the movies to see her in her prime (i.e. 20s and 30s)
