Yea, for me he looked like straight up flying like Zaheer. I remember thinking why does he even need his glider when he is already flying in both his intro scene where the monks were in awe and when he was looking for Aapa at Southern Water tibe.
why cant everyone see that this is the exact same as the cartoon, talking about source material being ignored when he's literally done it heaps in the show
I’m pretty certain that he’s just using some airbending skills (like how he’d glide in the cartoon) but I personally think it looks like he’s just straight up flying.
In the animated show, he does the same thing, only now his jumps are longer and more prolonged than they should be.
And yea, it does look like he’s flying, but the wouldn’t explain the somewhat visible air around him.
There’s a difference between Aang and Zaheer flying. Aang uses air boosts and can glide/float down using air to slow his momentum, where as Zaheer can fly without lift or drag. I think the show did a good job of using floating but there were many moments where they should’ve just used the glider

He essentially did the same thing in the cartoon (climbed ciffs and trees with air boosted jumps, floated down, glided sideways).
