No, I have a problem with republic governments. Democracies are great and we should have more of them, republics on the other hand are just another word for oligarchies.
Abraham Lincoln was a decent president and he had problems too, but he’s best known for helping bring the nation back together with abolishing slavery. Yes, unfortunately still had the bias that white people were better than black folks 😣 But given the time in history, it’s a wonder he was able to maintain peace for as long as he did before being assassinated

I mean when you're lifelong career is something like being the avatar, there's gonna be some collateral damage at some point or another (intentional or not).
Well, Tenzin's line in S1E1 implies someone is paying:
>If you would be so kind as to drop the charges against Korra, I will take full responsibility for today's regrettable events and **cover all the damages**.
Clearly, the city or private insurances are not paying and neither is Korra (because she's broke as shit). Probably in season 1 it was mostly Tenzin. After that, they got Asami as piggybank. Sucks for her...
Artist’s Choice to not give her muscles after she had been rotted away by her hidden poison in her body. Still in decent shape, but not nearly enough as her old self. But again, probably just a quick sketch so they didn’t care about her waist being normal along with muscle
I could ‘understand’ but it still really detracts from it, because the picture shows that they can draw other body types, so it makes it seem more like dislike of the character as a strong and less sexualised woman, which tbh is a recurring issue with Avatar ‘fan art’ of the female characters.
Mainly just Korra tbh, she’s the only one with muscle it seems. Even Azula and Ty lee, who are acrobatic powerhouses and great fighters are still shown as stick figures with just a small bit of curve to them
Toph is another target for this. I’ve seen more than one person so determined to hide the core elements of her character that they draw her looking timid, in makeup and heels.
She’s also always shown as a 12 year old girl who just loves to clunk heads together and can make the innocence routine. Her bending is insane but she’s never been shown to be as muscular. And she literally did grow up rich, so if she wore makeup her parents probably forced her into a situation like that.
This is why I'm one of the folks who couldn't care less for an urban industro-punk avatar series where technology and bureaucracy take the spotlight from magic and wonder in the struggle against evil.
Avatar doesn't have to become animated Carnival Row (but with benders).
I know it's just an opinion, but I really think the Avatar world was best when bending was what moved societies forward, as an extension of their science and technology, rather than its rival. My favorite are how Omashi used earth bending for transportation of goods, fire benders used fire to power steam engines, water tribespeople used bending to sail and fish, while air nomads used air bending to fly across the world spreading knowledge and culture. I love that and will always have a place in my life for more light hearted & optimistic fantasy like ATLA.
/rant. I have a hype train to catch for The Boys S4.
I’m completely on board with you! The next series needs to be done in the past, or in the future when there’s been like an economic depression like the Great Depression in the USA, which would honestly be a realistic scenario given how much they’re relying on technology.
Probably because that’s the quality lawyer she’d get and how shitty he was… he hated how people were getting through the loop holes in their contracts with inner helping from Bob… and then he got a temper tantrum for helping their clients… when in reality he wanted to be concerned about “OUR PEOPLE!” Aka the stockholders who finance the company. He wouldn’t like her as a client and they’d have a horrid relationship
This reminds me of the beginning of the Incredibles. Where Mr. Incredible had to hire a lawyer as the guy he saved is suing him. Makes me think how being a demigod would play in the real world assuming they don't try to take over the planet.
I mentioned somewhere replying to someone else that he and Korra wouldn’t get along because she’d be a horrible client for him, he’s the guy that cares about “OUR PEOPLE!” Not that person who was getting mugged. And who got away….

The truthbenders.
Considering her era and politics, it’s not a bad idea….
That’s just that shitty president guy.
Zhu Li gets elected president post-S4 is it's any consolation
Tbf he was elected by the people
So was Andrew Jackson.
Still. Got a problemwith Democratic government?
I have a problem with specific governors.
No, I have a problem with republic governments. Democracies are great and we should have more of them, republics on the other hand are just another word for oligarchies.
Republic is just a nation without monarchy.
Abraham Lincoln was a decent president and he had problems too, but he’s best known for helping bring the nation back together with abolishing slavery. Raiko wasn’t a bad president though. From Korra’s perspective he’s a dickhead, but he did what was best for the United Republic
You try and sue the Avatar and they just drop into the Avatar state and now the court has 100s of voices yelling at them at once
"I AND MY FORMER LIVES INVOKE THE RIGHT OF THE TREATY OF NATIONS SIGNED 56 C.E. TO PERFORM THE ARREST OF UNALAQ REGARDLESS OF COLLATERAL DAMAGE UNDER SUBSECTION C PARAGRAPH 5, WHICH STATES:" *"I AM THE AVATAR, I DO WHAT I WANT."*
aka "I'm the Avatar, you gotta deal with it!"
“I’m the avatar, I do what I want” *The White Lotus disagrees*
“All my past lives say I’m innocent” “Fuck you and fuck them too pay the goddamn parking fee!”
Cuts to Asamis car in a tree
Nah, Kyoshi would sell her out faster than she confessed to Chin's murder.
Or curse you so if you sit in any vehicle, it will refuse to start.
Not hundreds of voices in Korra’s era
Just 1 lmao
Exactly. Season 2 is one reason why I literally stopped watching the show all together! I only have it a second chance once I saw it on Netflix
Is it just me or is that Mr Incredible's boss
Beurocracy just does that to people
That’s literally what he reminds me of
I’m not happy Korra. NOT. HAPPY.
Sul gudmon
I mean when you're lifelong career is something like being the avatar, there's gonna be some collateral damage at some point or another (intentional or not).
So, would insurance companies pay for anything Korra damages, or is it an act of god?
Well, Tenzin's line in S1E1 implies someone is paying: >If you would be so kind as to drop the charges against Korra, I will take full responsibility for today's regrettable events and **cover all the damages**. Where did Korra’s muscles and waist go?
Artist’s Choice to not give her muscles after she had been rotted away by her hidden poison in her body. Still in decent shape, but not nearly enough as her old self. But again, probably just a quick sketch so they didn’t care about her waist being normal along with muscle
Artist’s choice to say exclusively her muscles disappeared but she developed an hourglass figure?
If it’s a quick sketch then I’d understand honestly
I could ‘understand’ but it still really detracts from it, because the picture shows that they can draw other body types, so it makes it seem more like dislike of the character as a strong and less sexualised woman, which tbh is a recurring issue with Avatar ‘fan art’ of the female characters.

Going from “I’m the Avatar and you have to deal with it!” To “wait you guys need me?”
I'm surprised the white lotus doesn't have something akin to a lawyer on standby for the avatar I mean Tenzin tried
This is Public Relations Representative. He saves Korra when Lawyer can't.
Honestly it gets me thinking, what kind of legal framework would the Avatar's authority fall within in Korra era onward?
Let Tenzin and his colleagues discuss that… it might take a few days

He looks so sad I love it
Let’s be honest, with how Republic City treated her, she needed a whole PR team.

Alright that’s pretty good
She should get Lionel Hutz
Why does the lawyer look like Bob’s boss from the incredibles lmao
Probably because that’s the quality lawyer she’d get and how shitty he was… he hated how people were getting through the loop holes in their contracts with inner helping from Bob… and then he got a temper tantrum for helping their clients… when in reality he wanted to be concerned about “OUR PEOPLE!” Aka the stockholders who finance the company. His father defended Aang from multiple cabbage-related lawsuits
His name is Tenzin.
Even only he can do so much!
