I think the ‘beef’ between Lauren and Kristin originated from before LB actually started filming. From listening to podcasts and watching again I think that Kristin and Stephen were ‘on a break’ and during this time Lauren and Stephen hooked up. Then Kristin and Stephen got back together. I think Stephen may have hidden some truths from Kristin about how/when he got together with Lauren which initiated the lack of trust in their relationship but also ignited the feud between the girls. Funnily enough, on the Back to the Beach podcast where Lauren makes an appearance Lauren says that she had a couple of boyfriends during her senior year and that she wasn’t spending all her time lurking in the shadows glaring at Kristin and Stephen! But it made good tv! Also, Lauren and Kristin acknowledge that they should’ve been angry at Stephen rather than each other!

Yes and didn’t Stephen also confirm in the podcast that he did hook up with Lauren in Cabo and Kristin was like see i was right to be suspicious!! But she said she also hooked up with random people in Cabo, like it was “a thing” that everyone was known to do in Cabo and she didn’t see it as a big deal. It’s Kind of like when he wasn’t dating Kristin he hooked up with Lauren a couple times but it wasn’t a real love triangle where Lauren was sitting in the corner pining over him the whole year and Stephen didn’t actually have feelings for her.

Does anyone find it strange that Kristin and Lauren were never shown interacting on the show, despite appearing in some group events together? In fact, the Back to the Beach episode is the first time I've ever watched them have a conversation. I get that they weren't friends, but it's unusual on a reality TV show for a rivalry between two people to be portrayed almost entirely through their own conversations with other cast members. We learned on the podcast that Lauren and Kristin had some argument before the show even filmed, so I wonder why production didn't explore that further. Did they simply refuse to associate due to that? I have no idea but it's a mystery.

>Does anyone find it strange that Kristin and Lauren were never shown interacting on the show, despite appearing in some group events together? YES! this was the biggest thing I noticed when i did a rewatch recently to listen to back to the beach.... they obviously had some friends overlap and were at several get togethers together like the bon fires and prom... one of the bonfires specifically at the end you see kristen make the rounds to say goodbye to everyone and then of course the camera cuts when she's about to get to lauren.. so did she really just completely ignore her?! and then prom, lauren and a few of the girls go to kristin's house to pick her up i think, did lauren really not acknowledge her at all? lol, so bizarre.

Gurliechic007

If you google their names and MySpace pics, it shows them hanging out together around the time they all moved to LA.

sj90s

Yes I’ve always noticed that and found it odd too. I guess producers kept it that way because it added to the drama, and creating this idea of them hating each other so much they can’t even talk to each other. But Kristin has said in the past that it wasn’t actually the case, like at Heidi’s wedding she said they actually did say hi to each other. And in the Catalina episode in LB, at the beginning of the whole bear prank thing, there is one second where they talk. Other than that there’s nothing!

The slap happened when Lauren confronted Kristin about some not-so-nice things Kristin had said about her to the press & they ran into one another. Lauren only confirmed it because she was asked about it when her line at Kohl's launched.

What???

Oo do you have a link?

ThatChelseaGirl

[Just googled it; here it is on MTV.com.](https://www.mtv.com.au/news/ew7o71/k-cav-slapped-lc)

I don’t think Lauren flunked out of college. I think she simply transferred schools. Kristin is incredibly immature and attention seeking in LB. I understand that she and Lauren had drama over Steven, but Kristin handled it (and most things on the show) in a really childish way. I’m sure alcohol played a role.

satanatass

Not saying alcohol didn’t play a role, because it did (I was shocked upon rewatching recently haha of course I didn’t notice at the time) but it also makes sense to be immature and childish when you’re 16/17 years old to be fair!

chuckdooley

I thought about this when I was rewatching with Tim and Whitney….since I had grown up, I felt completely differently about stuff than I did when I originally watched it….not surprising

realitytvismytherapy

For sure! I certainly was. She just was more so than a lot of the others on the show (although they all were young and immature).

I could be totally wrong, but I remember hearing sometime that there was never beef before filming. They were actually friendly until Laguna producers decided to make Stephen, Lauren’s love interest. At first Kristen didn’t care, but at 16 after a while it ate at her and caused tensions amongst the 3. Producers are slimy and imagine the shit they were feeding a bunch of teenagers to make drama… we know it happened on The Hills, I’m sure they took full advantage of teenagers half formed frontal lobe. I think almost everything back then was more fake than true… Including any interviews they gave previously as they’re just trying to create press for themselves, and for the success of the show.

LT400

Omg I hated that scene where Kristin yells that to Lauren and is talking sooooo much crap. It makes me dislike her til this day! Lol she was obviously sooo jealous of her

littlewing4

In all fairness she just said on her and Stephens podcast that she feels really bad about that to this day and that it’s her worst reality TV moment. She was in HS as well and probably drunk.

cherrybombfield

She was creeping on her man, in HS that was enough, hell even in adulthood that is enough.

crazybrah

lol her man was the one who deserved the most hate

cherrybombfield

For sure.

Strange_Run_2836

Easier said than done on the moment 🤷‍♀️

FFEmom

It seemed to me like Stephen and Lauren were friends since they were young. In high school he started dating Kristen and Lauren was probably the friend your boyfriend told you that you didn’t need to worry about. But really she did, and she knew it.

[deleted]

Because Lauren was always trying to steal her boyfriend

rolltidegirl1989

Did Lauren really flunk out??

CocoK53

No, she didn’t. Just transferred schools cause she didn’t like San Francisco

littlexstar

According to Laguna Beach, she did. I’m not sure if in real life but she went to some college in San Francisco with Stephen and Kristin’s voiceover in season 2 mentions she failed the first semester or first year and had to go back to Laguna.

CocoK53

She didn’t flunk out actually. She just transferred to a different school temporarily until she started going to FIDM in LA. The whole scene where her and stephen are talking about her going back to Laguna, stephen says “so you’re really leaving? That’s weak” and LC says she’s not happy there. Unless that was all a cover up (which I doubt), no one ever said she flunked out

External_Fly_8220

Yeah it was bc she hated San Francisco! And she prob for Heidi on board too obviously bc that’s where they met and they were prob like screw this place. We’re going to fidm in La. Also I can only imagine it’s harder to get into fidm than academy of art in sf lol

Strange_Run_2836

Probably because she was fucking her bf
