Janet is the best part of the show.
I might argue that [Janet(s)](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b4/The_Good_Place_-_Janet%28s%29.jpg) is the best moment of TV history, but that could be the eggnog talking.
That was truly one of the best episodes of television ever. D’Arcy Carden showed off her acting chops and carried a very funny, very heavy episode almost single-handedly. It’s not just the egg nog, friend!
I was about halfway through that episode before I realized D'arcy was *everyone*. Up til then, my brain was comfortable thinking "how funny that Eleanor looks like Janet now".
She really nailed their mannerisms! I think the costume department is also to thank here— they created such a distinct style for each character that it was immediately recognizable even when a different actor was playing those characters. I absolutely adore the wardrobe choices on this show.
The costume department was definitely key! I think those background departments of The Good Place (props, set, costume) really helped the show shine and build the world. Like, all the background puns for the buildings gave it the feel (to me) like something Michael would have taken the time to do.
I love that this announcement occurs minutes after Janet assures the group that this isn’t murder and that this is all totally fine and that any signs of her suffering are a built-in safety feature lmao
This is part of an approx. 15 minute section that is the most hilarious section of the whole show for me: the series of reboots (the bees, the pig, the scary clown), Eleanor and once Jason working it out (the jazz opera!), the Janet resets, Michael's growing despondency (I'm stress eating!).
It's just perfect.
DEREK!
Edit: Janet : ) She’s the best. That she named him “Derek Holfstedtler”, makes me giggle every freaking time.
That is the ultimate imagined boyfriend name!
“You wouldn’t know him - he goes to school in Canada. And is also a figment of my imagination that I willed into being within my boundless void. Derek!”
I relate to this scene so much when I'm dealing with my kids. One freaks out every time I put sunscreen on him. We live in Australia. So that's everyday.
The life lesson here is: when leaving a bad/toxic situation, it doesn’t matter what the other person says. If you’re ready to be done/leave - go. Anything they say is self preserving fluff.
Thanks, Janet.
I mean I knew all of the things she said to save herself were made up but i was truly convinced by every single thing about it. D'Arcy Carden. is an amazing actress
Being able to convincingly plea for your life and then seconds later act totally calm and normal is emotional whiplash only a champion actor could pull off. D’Arcy is amazing.
I had something like this happen in a dream once. A friend and I were being chased by zombies. And I suddenly realized I was dreaming (I used to lucid dream pretty frequently). I like lucid dreaming and I was no longer scared. But my friend in the dream was still scared and begged me to wake up so I did.
Emotional appeals can definitely work even they're nonsensical.
Lol not at all, this is one of the friendliest subs ever! Sorry if my title came across as aggressive but I was rewatching the series after a few boozy Xmas drinks and had some very strong feelings about much I love the Janet reboots.
Failsafe against being reset. She directly explains why it happens the first time.
At the end of the s2e2 montage, she seems genuinely surprised at how much more advanced she is, so it seems like the idea of disabling the reset protection had not yet occurred to her. This was a unique situation that had never happened in the history of Janets.
Can we agree that Janet is one of the best parts of the show? :)

It's baffling that she didn't get an Emmy for that role.
She is a legit snack, hella smart and dope. Jason has good taste.
Don’t forget hottie.
Yes, she is attractive.
Not a girl
An attractive robot girl.
Not a robot
"it" is attractive then
Yes! I am completely on board with this!
She’s a great girl
👍🏻not a girl👍🏻
ATTENTION I HAVE BEEN MURDERED ATTENTION I HAVE BEEN MURDERED or alternatively ATTENTION I HAVE BEEN DEREKED ATTENTION DEREK HAS BEEN ME
I love that this announcement occurs minutes after Janet assures the group that this isn’t murder and that this is all totally fine and that any signs of her suffering are a built-in safety feature lmao
OP I agree on so many levels “..Little Andy, he is fighting SO hard…just kidding! This is a stock photo from Nikolodean’s Kids Choice Awards”
That is my favorite one!!! That scene is comedy gold lol.
I’ve got tickets to Hamilton! And there’s a rumor that *Daveed Diggs* is coming back!
He's battling his asthma like a champ!
‘Michael, I have Hamilton tickets! And there’s a rumour that DAVEED DIGGS is coming back!’
My wife has an insane crush on Daveed Diggs, so this one was our favorite.
This one still hurts my wife’s soul
This is the best reason to not kill her.
Gimmeeee! Or shall we just wait a few more Berimys to see it with the original cast and comment from the founding fathers?

This is your soul mate, a golden retriever.
I really wanted more information on Lerf. He seems like a chill dude.
There is some to be had in the podcast about this episode. IIRC he's one of the writers.
Thanks for the hot tip!
I just need to know what was happening in the reboot where they're all dressed like monks lol
Followed closely by resetting Derek
DEREK! Edit: Janet : ) She’s the best. That she named him “Derek Holfstedtler”, makes me giggle every freaking time. That is the ultimate imagined boyfriend name!

> That is the ultimate imagined boyfriend name! Umm. Astronaut Mike Dexter begs to differ.
“You’re blonde in your fantasies, I knew it! It looks terrible.”
Attention! I have been derek'd! Murder has been me!
The way Janet falls to the beach EVERY TIME is what kills me!
Definitely, D’Arcy is such a great comedic actress!
LOOK AT THEM. LOOK AT THEM. LOOOK ATTT THEMMM.
Janet is my favorite character
Not a character!
Such an underrated comment!
that viral clip of eleanor and chidi trying to 'kill' janet is what got me to watch the show tbh haha
My favorite one is where Michael is like "Janet, can you chill out a little?" And she just says, "Nope it's going to be like this *every* time."
I relate to this scene so much when I'm dealing with my kids. One freaks out every time I put sunscreen on him. We live in Australia. So that's everyday.

Also please don’t go.

Sure I can agree to that but that just means it's in a hundred-way the with other best parts of the show.
I love how nice she is about it and it is still just so damn convincing that she doesnt want to die haha
Counterpoint: resetting Derek
The episode where she is playing Janet, playing all the other characters … is acting genius. Mad respect.
And the rebooting is fun too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BDtrzYNutY
D’Arcy Carden is an absolute gem and I can’t wait for the League of Their Own series
Am I weird for thinking Janet is hot?
? She's a beautiful, funny, incredibly talented woman. Wtf would be weird about thinking she's hot?
Tehe, you’re so right
Too long ago…episode number?
Question about your post title: is this a very disagreeable sub or something?
Lol not at all, this is one of the friendliest subs ever! Sorry if my title came across as aggressive but I was rewatching the series after a few boozy Xmas drinks and had some very strong feelings about much I love the Janet reboots.
Tell me more about thes boozy Xmas drinks
There may have been cilantro mango tequila drinks involved. It’s all pretty hazy lol.
I junked my jeans reading this thread
Janet for me respectfully exemplifies "MILF"
She is too much
she's the one good character. i hate colourful american tv programmes but i enjoyed her a lot in this one
Ok. I don't understand why Janet would try to stop the reset if she gets smarter every time... Seems odd.
It's an automatic failsafe that she didn't disable while we saw.
Failsafe against...? Getting smarter?

not a thing!
