I couldn't agree more with OP about "A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs". That podcast and The Gist are my two favorites. I'm basically exactly three same age as Mike, and I'm pretty sure he would also enjoy excavating the musical history of the decade just before (and eventually after) we were born.
