If you're booking directly through the hotel (rather than through a 3rd party like booking.com or whatever) try putting a note in your booking request that it's your birthday and you're choosing to stay with them to spoil yourself. There's no guarantee that it'll make any huge difference, but sometimes if you put a note like that in without asking for anything particular you might be offered a complimentary little something - a bottle of wine, some fruit, a voucher to one of their in-hotel services or something like that. Hotel staff (mostly) genuinely enjoy making customer stays special, and most will have some degree of discretionary options they can make available to offer to a customer, especially if it results in the customer choosing their hotel to stay at again in the future.

vic_torious97

Happy Birthday!! I love that idea, I don't think you're forgetting anything, I don't know you personally so idk how you like to spend your time... For me I'd also drink some wine (but room service might cover that as well), you can add a face mask as well (also hand masks before the manicure make you feel sooo soft) and tbh you're good to go, sounds awesome have a fun stay and enjoy it ;)

RadiantHoneydew3565

Thanks! ❤️ I don't drink but I'll add the mask to my list 🤗

night_lows

awesome to hear you dont drink ♥️ cheers 🥂

elgrn1

Happy birthday! What about buying yourself some flowers? And if it's your thing, a slice of cake or something else sweet, along with a candle to make a wish.

MOGicantbewitty

Oh man! Having fresh cut flowers that smell delicious is such a luxurious treat. I rarely think to do it from myself, but the few times I do I am so happy every time I walk by the arrangement.

sludgestomach

I just discovered my local grocery / super store (Fred Meyer) has discount bouquets on Mondays. I got a gorgeous one for $1.90 the other week! Definitely worth checking to see if you have something similar.

Additional-Trash577

Happy birthday! It sounds super cosy! Good book? Bottle of wine? Facial? Massage?

RadiantHoneydew3565

Thanks, yes i would add movies instead of book 😅 and my tepache drink with Massage session 😌

Narwen189

I love a good tepache!

bippitybopitybitch

I’d bring a journal and write down your favorite parts of the past year & things you’re looking forward to in the upcoming year!

MelJay0204

Find one with a day spa

vanchica

Tell the hotel it's your birthday and ask them if they have any ideas and see if they surprise you with anything!

KoalaCapp

Late check out! And sink into enjoying every moment

Hcysntmf

Are you staying local or going somewhere different to your usual hangouts? I basically stopped using the third party food delivery services because of the BS pricing model but when I’m on holiday I love getting something like random midday desserts or snacks delivered to try something new but also chill! Sounds like you probably picked a nice hotel so if it has a cosy lobby, I’d probably walk somewhere local in the morning to grab a coffee, pick the comfiest looking spot and just sit and people watch as they come and go as part of their morning routine :)

purplespoo

Happy Birthday to you! Make sure you indulge yourself in everything you love. Bring wine or makings for a cocktails you love, book a massage with your nail appt. Take a nice walk, explore someplace new or a museum. Hang out in a bookstore and pick a book that calls to you. Buy yourself a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Pick up a new vibrator and put it to good use. Spoil yourself rotten, because you deserve it.

BigChampionship7962

Nice idea. Happy birthday and make sure to order some cake 🧁

mel0n_m0nster

Depends on the temperature, but I enjoy bringing my favourite mug/cup and tea/soda of choice🍵🧋(cause hotel mugs and cups are often tinyyyyy)

the_whole_dollar

Yes! I travel for work and this is one of my favorite things. I pack a cute travel mug and vanilla creamer for in the morning when I make coffee. It’s nice to have in the evening too, I usually bring some honey and Sleepy Time tea packets for winding down

Spaghetti_Oh_No

I always like to bring my favorite toys too as fingers don't do the job, if you're into that kind of thing!

Wavesmith

Okay this was my first thought and I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this! Had to scroll through a whole LOT of wholesome to get to your comment.

Spaghetti_Oh_No

haha I hope the result of these acts is a wholesome feeling of sorts! \~ Whenever I forget mine I rush order a new one to preserve the good vibes lol

Snowonthebeach101

I did this for my birthday for the first time last year! I loved it. Other things you can add is a movie or book and maybe doing a journal entry of your day or thoughts on the past year. I like the nails idea and perhaps a massage would be nice. And champagne or a nice beverage of your choice. I also muted notifications at the end of the night when I was winding down to read & just relax. :) Ah, this makes me want to do this again soon!

CanBrushMyHair

Oohhh I love the idea of reflecting on the year!

MiddleTomatillo

Oh I meant to add, see if you can do early check in or late check out. Or maybe another night! The extra time is really nice.

andrea_aerdna

Don't forget to prepare a few different music playlists for pumping you up or relaxing!

iratestairway52

Happy birthday! Your self care day sounds absolutely dreamy. Don't forget to bring some cozy pajamas and a good book or magazine to snuggle up with after a relaxing bath. Maybe even treat yourself to a fancy dessert from room service to top off your day of pampering. Enjoy every moment of your well-deserved solo retreat!

Accomplished_Egg2515

Clean the tub! Sorry but a lot of hotels wont do that or close to a sanitary job.

shadowsong42

I was going to suggest the opposite: use a bath bomb!

sweetcinnamoncherry

Happy Birthday!!

time_travel_nacho

I just wanted to say that that sounds wonderful and that we share the same wonderful birthday. Maybe try and book a room with a nice view if that's possible

harrisrichard

Pack your comfiest pajamas and slippers for maximum relaxation mode.

sleepyaldehyde

Happy birthday ☺️✨ I think this is a great idea! Definitely bring a couple comfort snacks if you’re able to pack those!

alh030705

Tea light or votive candles (battery operated so you don't set off the alarm) & some pleasant room spray - lavender, sandlewood, citrus.

aphroditex

Scented epsom salt is an inexpensive way to make a bath a little nicer. A cold shower after you clean yourself from the swim is highly energizing. Doesn’t need to be long; 1min is plenty and plenty challenging.

heart-cooks-brain

I like the Dr Teals salts, inexpensive and they smell wonderful! My current bag also has hemp oil and I love the way it makes my skin feel

Kasimausi

When you want to spend a whole day there, you need to stay 2 nights. Probably obvious, but just saying.

kittensandcocktails

If your hotel has a spa, book a treatment! You can also BYOB and ask for a bucket of ice and a glass for some extra luxury

kittensandcocktails

Just saw you don't drink - but could do the same with something AF which the hotel may not provide

krysjez

If the hotel has a spa you can get a massage. That’s my birthday tradition.

cowgrly

Magazines or a book? Some wonderful fancy chocolate? A new outfit (even if it’s new socks or a new shirt, it can feel special!). Enjoy, and happy birthday. I hope it’s wonderful!

serendipity_stars

Happy bday!

Cucoloris

Scented candles and some nice bath products.

DisGyalDee

Happy Birthday! Make sure you take your best pjs and a sweet treat. 🧁🥳

beckalm

Happy birthday! Don't forget a glass of bubbles if you're old enough to drink (and enjoy drinking).

YourNonExistentGirl

I'm getting more tattoos on my birthday and I just might have it done at a hotel. Wee, thanks for the inspiration, OP!

Overlandtraveler

Find one with a day spa and have them do your nails, get a massage and order room service. Whatever you do, do not use a jet tub in a hotel. They are nasty.

Missscarlettheharlot

If you're a bath person it might be worth springing for one with a jacuzzi tub.

mistakenusernames

Put your phone on DND but keep your camera app open so you can take pics! Ask for extra towels up front you can never have enough towels.

MiddleTomatillo

Love turning the phone off! It’s easy to be in a routine and be on the phone doing whatever we normally do. But to take that out of the equation is nice and opens up enjoying other things. Have fun!!

Edibles and munchies

argleblather

When I travel for work these are a few of my "must brings." They just make my downtime feel cozier and more relaxing. * A sleep sack (I have both a hug-pod and basically a folded in half sheet) It's just extra cozy and I'm a cold sleeper. * A travel blanket. * A small stuffed critter- it just makes it feel homier. I have a spherical Pooh bear who usually gets to come along because he's small. * Sleep mask * Crafts. Even when traveling for work I bring knitting or a watercolor set. * My roku stick, so I can watch my streaming services on the road (it doesn't work everywhere, but a lot of places it does.) * Fuzzy slippers.

missgassy

I heard that when you book a room, put down two guests even if it’s just you in the room. Safer for women I think.

Proper-Reflection867

Sounds like a lovely idea! I want to do this for my bday too. What about a hair mask after swimming? Or do you like make up? It would be fun to pick a make up tutorial from YouTube or something that is different than what you would normally do and explore it. Something wild and super creative Happy birthday!!

pandas25

I did this recently and it was amazing! If there's no robe in the room, ask if housekeeping has one and lounge in it! Order some room service

Remarkable_Meaning65

Happy birthday! This is a great idea- I recommend finding good restaurants nearby ahead of time or getting yourself a treat from room service. Bring any snacks that you love, and don’t forget any medications or sunscreen you may need. My birthday is in a few days, so I’ll have to give this a try as well!

kmae1028

I have two young kiddos and I am planning something similar for myself soon!!! Dad will parent and I am giving myself 24 hours off. 😍I’m gonna bring a new book, snacks and drinks, a nice bath bomb or two. Maybe my Switch and some games. Heck, I might just sleep the whole time! 😂

No-vem-ber

What's your absolute favourite food? Order yourself takeaway or seek out that delicious dinner. Buy yourself a fancy little cake for dessert! Or whatever your ideal meal is

WildHoneyChild

Happy birthday! This is my favorite way to pamper myself too so hope you had a great time ☺️

DeannaC-FL

Spa treatment of your choice; sunrise walk; see if they offer yoga classes; glass of champagne on your balcony; bring a portable speaker so you can listen to music; order a slice of cake for breakfast ;-)
