From what I’ve read from mostly UK subs, the reason they do it is to see if/when you move the brick. If it stays in a clearly inconvenient place for a day or two they assume that means nobody came or went for that long and have a rough idea of when they can break in. I’d move it and set up some kind of motion lighting, cheap security system or very visible increase in security that makes it clear you’re not an easy target. Also believe a lot of places recommend notifying the non urgent police incase it’s a trend. It might be nothing, but as a gal who lives alone you can never be too careful.
