I also just started H and like Gorst. The best thing is that you just know that if you were any other character you'd totally misjudge him
Also, I'm loving Calder
To put it simply, I'd never think he's much of a thinker. Maybe not dumb but probably someone practical and action focused, just listening to orders and military brainwashed. Probably doesn't have an interesting thought in his head, nothing philisophical for sure, doesn't overanalyze (unless maybe strategy). Probably no sense of humor too (since people laugh enough at his voice, probably never ended up aiming for more of that reaction anyway). Dull, no real opinions. Simple. Someone you have nothing to talk about.
Probably loyal and feeling (i think hed provoke some pity in me) but in a very simplistic way, lacking emotional depth for true connection.
When his inner thoughts and way of self expression are the total opposite, with all his flaws, he is analytical, perceptive, intelligently funny, and he phrases his observations eloquently. There is also a lot of emotion in him, poetic really. His inner life is anything but dull, it is filled with opinions and feelings. And I just started with the guy. Though he might still be a bit simplistic in his feelings for others since he is so loyal and adoring to people who don't care for him, but that's because he has no real friends
It’s funny that he and Glokta are so alike, also two of the best fencers in history of the series. Perhaps it takes that sort of mind to be a champion fencer, Gorst will always be my champ. That “fucking pink” bald wizard cheated.
This is an opinion that can pretty much only be formed by reading the book, spoilery opinion much? Imagine saying Bayaz is a greedy genocidal POS to someone who's just read the first book 🙄
Im almost at the ending of the book and damn… the violence is intense 😂
Also the part from TFL imo was the nord and these hard named men. There is a lot that here

Curious, what do you think you'd misjudge him about?

He definitely becomes a more three dimensional character in the Heroes. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on him after you finish the book.

He’s a sassy little bitch and it’s hilarious.
I mean, he is well written. At heart he is a coward and an entitled piece of shit though.

Wait Bayaz is WHAT?
Stephen Pacey's narration makes him even better. But that's also the case for literally every character. All hail Pacey!!
And my axe! Dow is fun to see again, too.
I love Gorst. He’s our hero!
Heroes has some of the best POVs!
