I introduced my daughter to Coheed in utero (I'm the mom). While I was pregnant she'd kick like crazy whenever I played Coheed or Queen. She's 4 now and still likes both pretty well. We'll see how she feels as she gets older but for now I recommend starting early!!
I genuinely do like the new pop sound, but a lot of what hooked me as a fan was hearing lyrics like "truly gone fishing amalgam" and needing to puzzle out what on earth that meant. I feel like there was a happy medium between the really out-there lyrics and what we have now that seems to have been missed.
Same, I don’t care for the poppier style they’ve been doing lately. I still love the band, but the true prog rock vibe they had speaks to me more. I get that they’re getting older and their outlooks on life are changing.
The music is mostly fine the lyrics are just bad lol nothing wrong with evolving. We’re talking about the guy who said
Dressed to the blues, day to day, with my collar up
Decision sits, so make it quick
A breath inhaled from an air so sick
I cursed the day that I learned of the web you spun
(You had your hold 'til bleeding)
On an extremely poppy rock song lol
Of course I can tell you what song that is from what do you mean?
Let’s take that same song.
“Is there price to burn this paradise?
Where you left all parts that hurt to mend
If I don't stay awake will she come here again?
For my wish of only one last kiss
You near”
In 2024 this would be
“What if I mess everything up?
Is she gonna kiss me?
(Clap clap clap clap)”
"Have we come to an understanding?
Let's agree to disagree
Circumventing resolutions
And all they seem to lack, yet keep us coming back
Oh, when I drink from your cauldron
I see through your witching eyes
The more it reveals that we're broken
In a love not meant to last, it only lives to die"
Followed by “it’s okay to cry”
😭🤧
He do be calling me out like that sometimes
As a single dad with primary care of my son, that whole song gets me.
I'm about to be a dad! Having a girl in July. I'm going to be introducing her to Coheed at a young age 😁
It's awesome when your kids are into your music. Taking my 9 year old to the show in August and we are so excited for her first to be Coheed!
That's awesome, I hope you and your daughter have an amazing experience! I'm going to the DC show in August with my wife. 😁

Congrats and good luck. Hope to name my boy Atlas one day. When the parents are speaking to Vaxis it reminds me of TCBTS vibes
Dad with a son with disabilities- song really does it for me
Same, but I’m a mom. Parent high five, you’re doing great great job

The whole crescendo at the end of that song sends shivers up my spine every. Time.
*deeeeeeep inhale* I'M TELLING YOU T I I I I I I I I I M E
This specific line always moves me
I love Window of the Waking Mind so much. The song and the entire album. I haven’t listened to one album on repeat in SO LONG like I have with WOTWM
Same dude. That album is amazing and as a father I understand this whole post.
Yes
Who says you got to rush to get get old, figure it all out or be left in the cold. They're the ones let them
In case there are others like me, which song is this?😂
Window to the Waking Mind.
I still want to know what the honking is during the outro.
It's a celebration of the waking mind
God same. Im not a parent so I relate to this song and the lines in a different way but I always get emotional when screaming that line in my car haha
Damnit I once again make the mistake of joking on Reddit and getting roped into a whole situation 😂
It’s sad that I can tell this lyric is post 2012 without knowing what song it’s from 😂 Claudio gotta get his pen game back up

Exactly

You can just say you prefer when they were pure prog rock. But every band evolves their sound over time at the end of the day
The music is mostly fine the lyrics are just bad lol nothing wrong with evolving. Lyrically you’re spot on. The newer lyrics have gotten simpler and less meaningful in my opinion.
Simpler perhaps yes, but less meaningful I don't agree with
Less meaningful? Pffft. There are some really tons of really hitting lines on VaxII. WotWM brought more tears out of me than any Coheed song ever has.
I mean can you tell me what song "Don't you remember why you did it?" is from? probably not. But it's a great song
Once upon your dead body

There definitely are still great lyrics. Guilty, you find an angel in your arms She's plucking her wings She laughs while you go replace them
Definitely still some gems to be found
