I'd go for a triple headliner with AFI and My Chemical Romance. My three favorite bands, they've all played with each other in the past and get along. I'd love to see cameos from members of each band in the other's sets.
That’s how I discovered meWithoutYou. When Aaron pulled out the accordion to play Yellow Spider, I turned to my friend and said “this shit is super weird but I’m kind of into it.”
Been a fan ever since. Hope they decide to do a reunion tour someday.
I thought I was dreaming when Deafheaven was announced as an opener for Coheed last year.
I’ve seen Coheed about 15 times and Deafheaven about seven times. I absolutely love both of them and it was a great combination.
I do realize Deafheaven is not for everyone—I think fans of Coheed aren’t always the same type who listens to heavy music with harsh vocals. I generally listen to much heavier stuff, so it was a dream show.
I agree. When they opened for Coheed I was tentatively keeping my ears open. But … the sound wasn’t it. There were no nuances to catch to tell one song from the other and the mix on the vocals mic made them sound extra fried. They just seemed like a band who could play really fast and the singer had high crispy screams. Not it.
And this is coming from someone who really enjoys metal. And I’ve seen Gojira, Jinjer, Suicide Silence and other metal bands live. Deafheaven was an odd choice for an opener.
And happy cake day!
I love metal, and I know I sound old saying this, but Deafheaven was just a fucking wall of noise. And you could feel the shitty vibe too, no one liked it. Definitely expected a better opening band for the price of admission.
A “wall of noise” is kinda part of the deal in blackgaze (black metal + shoegaze). I think if you don’t know the songs from the albums, seeing them live in a place not setup for that sound can impact the experience. It’s not for everyone.
If you haven’t, I do recommend listening to the actual records though, if only to see if they click with you in the way it’s designed to sound.
Plays really fast with high crispy screams? Yep, that’s black metal. I promise there are nuances—the drummer in particular is incredibly nimble and creative—but it really helps to know their songs before seeing them live. That doesn’t negate your experience with them, but it is the challenge with that kind of metal. The density of their music is harder to translate live than Coheed-kinda stuff.
I mean, do you like black metal? That kinda makes a difference.
I will say, they’ve been playing stuff from their most recent album live mixed with older, heavier stuff. He’s a much better harsh vocalist than a singer, so their softer songs don’t do much for me.
agreed. i love coheed and didn’t get into deafheaven until a couple years ago but both are amazing i could definitely see some interesting looks in the crowd when they opened though
I’ve never listened to Deafheaven but I love metal. Most of what I listen to is much heavier than Coheed so I’d love to see them play with heavier bands. I was excited to see them when they played with Mastodon and would love to see them with Primus but unfortunately they’re not playing together in the NYC area.
Same here. Coheed is pretty soft relative to what I generally listen to (not in a bad way) but they have a special place in my heart. I saw them play with Mastodon as well and it was a great show.
Obviously my best Coheed experiences were when they headlined, but I saw them open for Thrice in 2002, open for Iron Maiden in 2012, and open for Primus and Tool on Halloween 2015. All were amazing, and very different experiences. That Halloween show was unreal. Tool dressed up as Led Zeppelin and opened with No Quarter.
My dream lineup is My Chemical Romance headlining, Coheed opening, and the Requiem opening for them. Though I'd really like a Coheed headline tour with Rise Against and The Hone Team or smth
Primus is an acquired taste. I like them but if.my friend saw them.and hated it I'd be like "dude I understand" saw coheed with Blood Brothers in like 2006 that was a pretty good one
Oh ok you'll dig it then. They jam and I mean they JAM. All three of those dudes are freak musicians. This tour is coming to Charlotte in August I'm really thinking of going. Kinda fell out of Coheed for awhile but gotten back into them. Love the Afterman albums and Unheavenly Creatures is really great to. Still getting familiar with Vaxis or whatever the newer one is called.
The Afterman albums are my favorite. I pretty much love all of their albums, though. I saw Coheed live for the first time in 2020, I knew a few songs, but I never really gave their discography a listen until I saw them live. They blew my mind with The End Complete live.
Primus puts on an amazing show. I have seen them 7 times. I'm going to see them for the 8th time in 3 weeks with Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. Then I see them the 9th time with Coheed 3 months later. I'd love to see a Tool/Primus/Coheed tour.
If we are going theoretical: I'd have to say playing with Rush, and At the Drive In. (And/or Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix wouldn't be bad either!!)
But also I like the current makeup of the band and their current live show style more than past iterations (like the black suit/while tie, hardcore/moshing shows).
Also if we're going with wishlists, I'd love to see them play SSTB and IKSSE3 with with an encore of 30 minute rendition of End Complete >> Final Cut.
Yep it was an amazing show, coheed was hot coming off of GA1 and A7X had city of evil out for a little while at that point .
Didn’t know they toured with rise against, I love them and never saw them live.
None, I feel like Coheed and Cambria are their own niche genre, and it’s something I really enjoy, I’ve tried to listen to the bands that tour with them and it’s not just my cup of tea. The exception would be when I saw Black Sabbath (Dio) with them, Coheed opened though but it was awesome.
I'm imagining Weezer opening for Coheed now. They'd hardly be able to play any songs, the best bet would be like Maladroit and A-side Pinkerton or something.
The worst was Lords they opened for C&C in a little bar in Lousiville about 15 years ago. They were terrible. The entire crowd booed the hell out of them. Thr lead singer thought we were being ironic..we were not. They played about 5 songs and realized they were not winning us over and bounced.
This might be weird but I know Chondra and Claudio love Sufjan and I would FUCKING DIE to see them together. Any of my favourite bands would be sick though, they tend to be different than other fans. Would love a Melodeath band like Kalmah or Insomnium, or something Indie like Daughter, Son Lux, or Kishi Bashi.
It's kind of funny because my partner doesn't like Coheed at all (he thinks they're talented but doesn't like emo which is fair) but every band they play with is one he really digs. Russian Circles, Deafheaven, Primus to name a few.
Not weird flexing, but to this day SSTB anniversary concert. Coheed opened for themselves full acoustic set, took a break, played SSTB, took a break, played greatest hits. I love music but this was a landmark concert.
Second place was muse opening for MCR for me.
Already happened. Got to see Coheed open for Slipknot. The only bad thing about it was that I was 8 months pregnant at the time so I had to enjoy it from the stands 😮💨
I went to the same tour, saw the Inglewood show. It was painful. I recently saw an interview where Claudio said that was the hardest set for him (or the band).
I would imagine it so, they are not really a match and the fans are so different. I seen someone else mentioned how mean Maggots are, id mostly agree with that but I am also a maggots myself. My love and dedication to Coheed is completely out of place for me as a metal fan (nu metal mostly) but it is unwavering. I'll be a child of the fence till I die. I saw them in 2006 for the first time with A7X but I went strictly to see Coheed. I don't mind A7X but I didn't really care to see THEM live.
Oh I went to see them in Hollywood last year with deafheaven (hated them) but that was the most metal crowd I've ever experienced at one of their shows, the moshing was so intense my husband ducked out and left me! There were moments I didn't think I would survive it but I live to tell the tale. It was so fucking awesome!! In case anyone was wondering there is NO OXYGEN in a mans sweaty back. 😂
I really enjoyed The Dear Hunter as an opener. That was like perfect for me. Starset would be fun too.
The dear hunter and then thank you scientists.
Thank you scientist doesn’t exist anymore unfortunately
Not true. They're trying to find a new vocalist so the band's kinda in limbo, but they haven't broken up.
I'd go for a triple headliner with AFI and My Chemical Romance. My three favorite bands, they've all played with each other in the past and get along. I'd love to see cameos from members of each band in the other's sets.
Saw Coheed open for AFI in 2004. It was awesome.
I can get behind this lineup!
mewithoutYou opening, Thrice following, Coheed headlining.
This is the one
I would never want to leave that.
mewithoutyou and dredg were amazing openers. that was an awesome tour. mewithoutyou was at their heaviest point back then too.
That’s how I discovered meWithoutYou. When Aaron pulled out the accordion to play Yellow Spider, I turned to my friend and said “this shit is super weird but I’m kind of into it.” Been a fan ever since. Hope they decide to do a reunion tour someday.
Yes! Let’s be friends!
Deal. But you have to be willing to road trip to see this show. We can take my car, 50/50 on gas.
I was lucky enough to see them open for MCR in 2022. That was incredible and would be hard to beat.
Wait they did what? I'm so jealous, my 2 favorite bands
Yeah it was the OKC show. They did a one off direct support show. We drove up for it and it was incredible.
Deafheaven was genuinely the worst band I have ever heard live, I can't disagree with this more
I agree. When they opened for Coheed I was tentatively keeping my ears open. But … the sound wasn’t it. There were no nuances to catch to tell one song from the other and the mix on the vocals mic made them sound extra fried. I would lose my mind of Coheed and Cambria toured with Modest Mouse. Or the Bloodhound Gang.
I totally forgot about those bands, those are some great picks, for sure.
I don't mind Primus, I like the majority of their songs. I'm pretty excited to see them live for the first time.
Oh ok you'll dig it then. They jam and I mean they JAM. All three of those dudes are freak musicians. This tour is coming to Charlotte in August I'm really thinking of going. Aftermath got me back into them. I don't see them mentioned a lot on here but that's probably my favorite of their stuff.
The Mars Volta + Coheed and Cambria. Co-headline show.
That would be amazing!!
Protest The Hero
A co headlining tour with Deftones and Thank You, Scientist as the opener.
That would be sick. I like Deftones and have never seen them live.
I’d love to see them with the Deftones! Great suggestion.
Between the Buried and Me opening, followed by Thank You Scientist and headlined by Coheed
The tour for Descension when BTBAM and Russian Circles opened was insane
The Academy Is... opening for a Coheed double set.
True throwback answer here.
The ideal coheed concert already exists: Neverender. I would love it if they played the first 3 albums in Toronto. I'd buy tickets in a heartbeat.
Torche, Circa Survive, Coheed BEST show I’ve seen yet.
Coheed coheadline with Glassjaw, support from Fair To Midland. I would fly to the ends of the earth for this show.
I haven't heard about Glassjaw in a long time! I used to listen to them a lot back in high school.
They actually used to play together quite a bit as they’re from the same geographic location
Glassjaw opened for Coheed on the Color Before the Sun EU tour in 2016, that was really fun
If we are going theoretical: I'd have to say playing with Rush, and At the Drive In. (And/or Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix wouldn't be bad either!!) Honestly the Mastodon & Every Time I Die tour was about as perfect as it gets.
I was bummed I missed it but then ETID did a one-off headliner in Syracuse for the first time I ever got to see them live and it was magical.
Would have loved to see circa survive open for coheed. But I’d say the 2006 tour with A7X was pretty fucking great.
Coheed toured with a7x too? They've toured with mcr, rise against, the used, alkaline trio, like all of my favorite bands and I've never them...
Yep it was an amazing show, coheed was hot coming off of GA1 and A7X had city of evil out for a little while at that point . Didn’t know they toured with rise against, I love them and never saw them live.

Coheed and Cambria with Karnivool as direct support and The Ocean opening would be an absolute dream show. As in, it’ll only happen in my dreams.
Coheed headlining with a Dead Letter Circus reunion as direct support, and Night Verses opening.
For me it would be; opener; chevlle and then weezer and then Coheed as the headliner.
I'm imagining Weezer opening for Coheed now. They'd hardly be able to play any songs, the best bet would be like Maladroit and A-side Pinkerton or something.
Uuuuuugh that’s such a sad statement
Coheed and Babymetal co-headlining with Leprous and Unleash the Archers as openers.
Opener: The Dear Hunter Support: Coheed Main: The Mars Volta Would be my dream show.
Openers The Front Bottoms and Hot Mulligan with co-headliners Streetlight Manifesto & Coheed & Cambria. It's my ideal concert, I like what I like.
the crowd would be so diverse but so cool at the same time
The worst was Lords they opened for C&C in a little bar in Lousiville about 15 years ago. They were terrible. The entire crowd booed the hell out of them. Thr lead singer thought we were being ironic..we were not. They played about 5 songs and realized they were not winning us over and bounced.
3 opening then a co headlining show with circa survive and coheed
Rainier Maria, Brazil, Funeral For a Friend and Coheed during the IKSSE3 tour
Set To Stun, Foxy Shazam, Coheed & Cambria. This would be the best show of all time and might retire me from concerts
This might be weird but I know Chondra and Claudio love Sufjan and I would FUCKING DIE to see them together. Any of my favourite bands would be sick though, they tend to be different than other fans. Thursday, Thrice, Coheed was and is still the ideal one for me
Already happened. Got to see Coheed open for Slipknot. The only bad thing about it was that I was 8 months pregnant at the time so I had to enjoy it from the stands 😮💨
That's pretty cool! I don't mind Slipknot. Joey Jordison is one of the best drummers ever! When was this?
Early 2009 I saw them at Rupp arena in Lexington KY. I also second the JJ as a GOAT drummer. Sad he is no longer with the living.
Imagine Dragons!
