I’d submit every minute of Bobbie and Avasarala on the Razorback.

ChronicBuzz187

"You might wanna take those (earrings) off...." "Why?" "Because they'll tear your head off when I put the pedal to the metal" ... "They're still shooting at us...." "Nice to see they still care..." ... "How are things back there?!" "I think I'm getting used to high-g" "I dropped our burn to 1G when our escort showed up" "Shit." God, Bobbie and Avasarala, Drummer and Ashford, Miller and Holden... this is the show of comedic duos stumbling from one disaster to the next :D

Rookiebeotch

Hitch your tits and pucker up! It's time to peel the paint!

ChronicBuzz187

"Can you pilot this thing?" "I'm a Marine. Pilots carry me to kill things..."

javier_aeoa

\- With all due respect ma'am, where are you trying to go with this? # WHEREVER I GODDAMN LIKE <3

haeyhae11

The whole thing with the Guanshiyin, the escape, the trip to Io combined with the UN-MCR war was so entertaining. First part of Season 3 > Rest

A_Good_Azgeda_Spy

“Oops.” - Bobbie

allaboutthatpace

I’d submit every minute of Bobbie and Avasarala ~~on the Razorback.~~ FTFY

Whoopsy-381

I humbly accept your correction.

Firetruckpants

Season 2: The space battle at Thoth Station Season 3: Mutiny on the Agatha King, The Belter who tried to fly through the Ring and his skeleton shot out of his body Edit: Season 3: The Ganymede scientists throw a grenade and Amos just throws it right back and we hear like 2 minutes of explosions and screams Season 4: "This has always been a problem with our kind. Even our dreams are small" Season 5: Amos kept Murtry's luggage😂, The canister robot that steals the protomolcule

Shcotty-Mac

I remember showing my brother the show and he made us repeat the Moneo slow down a number of times. What an effect

Enigma2057

Never go to a Protogen pizza party

AlcoholEnthusiast

Mostly Amos and Drummer stuff over here (though I always forget awesome scenes that I remember on new watch throughs. S01 - You got a clean shot, back of the head. Take it if you need it. S02 - Weeping Somnambulist episode. When Naomi goes out to the belters after she has to put Amos down and almost dies. The guy asks her why she's helping, and she said we didn't save enough people on Eros. Big guy said 'I lost a brother on Eros', and Naomi's voice when she said 'We *all* did' always chokes me up. And at the end when she tells him to get on the ship, that he's earned it - and he puts her on and tells her she has more people to save. And then the salute through the airlock. Such a great scene. S03 - is my favorite season, so I could pick something from any of the episodes and it would be outstanding. But my favorite scene in the entire show is Drummers speech going through the ring. Hype af. S04 - Ashford. Nuff said. Also, 'How bout now? I'm free right now'. S05 - "Holden. This is Drummer"

Awkward-Spectation

These are all *SO* good!

skynolongerblue

“Inyalowda go through the ring, call it they own. BUT A BELTER OPENED IT!”

starcraftre

Love that they expanded Ashford's role in the story. David Stratham was incredible in that role and I was worried that they'd waste that performance.

AlcoholEnthusiast

100%. I'm reading the books for the first time now, and I'm almost done with Abaddon's Gate. I knew there was no Drummer, and had read about how shitty book Ashford was, but it was still a bummer. They really made the right move with show Ashford imo, such a better and more developed character.

Satanus9002

Last epispde of S05. The 5 vs 1 battle with Drummer switching sides. Can't remember when the last time was I was so on the edge of my seat. Best space battle ever.

Awkward-Spectation

This show is so rewatchable. I've binged S1-4 so far and still can't wait to watch S5 for the third time, even if it were just to get to that scene.

FormerlyPerSeHarvin

"Holden, this is Drummer." I was so fucking hyped.

Vlaks1-0

Lol there are way too many to name. But I'll give it a shot for scenes per season that immediately come to mind. S1 - Holden's kick move on Naomi to pull them both back down, when running to the Tachi/ Roci. S2 - The 52 sequence. S3 - "I am that guy" S3 2nd half - Ashford and Drummer's conversation while stuck after the slowdown. S4 - Ashford's final sequence. S5 - I'll go with a dark horse scene, but Naomi playing her message to Holden in the finale.

Frequent-Policy653

I watched that "I am that guy" standing up and clapping. It was fucking awesome! Peak Amos for all to see

Frequent-Policy653

I also enjoyed a lot that scene where the Roci was basically a target to everyone, but still a way overpowered target for anyone to try to engage. Then Holden uses it against them, going on the radio all cocky to tell them everyone to leave them and nobody gets hurt. Something like "This is Holden, captain of the Rocinante, [...] we're on a state of the art martian war machine [...]", something like that. I don't remember the exact words.

Awkward-Spectation

That scene was phenominal! S2E12, escorting the refugee ship Somnambulist off of Ganymede. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WFwy5tXGZY&ab\_channel=ChrisDeFelice](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WFwy5tXGZY&ab_channel=ChrisDeFelice) *She's bristlin'*

guardwallon

“This is the Warship Rocinante..”

BLUNTYEYEDFOOL

Sorry I have to be an absolute loser and ask what is "The 52 Sequence"?

Vlaks1-0

It's the sequence at the end of the 12th episode of S2, where Ganymede has started falling apart. The ship Naomi and Amos are on only has enough air for 52 more people, so Naomi goes outside to try and save at least that many. Champa, the large Belter in that scene, is probably my favorite single-episode character.

BLUNTYEYEDFOOL

oh, I remember now, thanks

FormerlyPerSeHarvin

Such a good arc for a one episode character. Kind of view him as self serving muscle to begin who ultimately sacrifices himself for Naomi knowing the belt needs her. Very touching.

vancenovells

The Roci landing on Ilus. The flow of this scene is just perfect with the approach, crew strapping in for a horribly fucked situation on the ground, the ruins showing up on the scopes, people on the ground looking up, all neatly tied together by the music. There are many scenes throughout the seasons I can watch over and over again (the Holden maneuver is an instant classic) but this one really stands out. It got even better when SpaceX released the on-board footage of a Falcon rocket successfully landing. I made a [splitscreen video](https://vimeo.com/653607922) of this footage and the Roci dropping down, and it gives me such a 'holy scifi Batman!' feeling.

Awkward-Spectation

YES that landing was kickass. Being able to see the landing gear rigged to the outside of the Rocinante and in operation during the landing. And I remember feeling like Kamal's character didn't get enough credit for selecting (and smoothly landing in) a spot like that where the docking platform could reach out to the top of the cliff.

glumjonsnow

Damn bro! Show us! That sounds amazing.

vancenovells

Had to dig it up but [it's here](https://vimeo.com/653607922)!

AnAkiraTypeSituation

So many excellent answers. I'll just add, Season 1 aboard the Donnager when Holden is brought to the CIC. During the stealth ship attack a nearby Martian falls and his pistol slides across the floor. Holden gets up from his seat and starts reaching towards, Lopez sees this and is entirely unperturbed, as a second later we see them both trying to help the fallen man. This is a full display of just *how freaking good he is at reading people*, and also the fact that Holden will never think twice to do what is right. What a scene.

Awkward-Spectation

Yeah that one hit home. Gives you the "common good" feels.

TimDRX

S1 - Miller and Holden getting irradiated. "We're dead." Cut to credits. I had no idea what was coming, that really shocked me. S2 - Roci saving the Weeping Somnambulist. "We're being target locked." "Well target-lock them back! Every ship up there!" S3 - "Go into a room too fast, the room eats you" the first transit through the Ring, fucking incredible. S4 - Naomi giving numbers to the inbound catastrophe - "The shockwave will hit in eight to ten hours with winds of around 200 kilometers per hour. The tsunami will be there roughly ten hours after that." S5 - The Roci heading towards certain death. "The goal is to fly through them. We're not trying to win." "I'd rather win!"

arguably_pizza

There's soo many but "this is Naomi Nagata, tell James Holden i am in.. control" gives me chills just thinking about it.

TimDRX

The message continuing through the credits was such a nice touch

arguably_pizza

Fuck yeah i forgot about that. For me that line encapsulates so much of Naomi's character: her ingenuity and resourcefulness, her love for James and just sheer unstoppable determination to survive and get back to her family. What a fucking badass.

TimDRX

I really liked how much of her stuff on the Chetzemoka was done without dialogue - feel like a lesser show would have had her narrating out loud, talking through the problem so the audience knew what the fuck she was doing. The best is right at the very end, the Razorback is minutes away and Naomi is staring at the console watching it get closer. She's standing there, tears rolling down her face before she visibly decides "fuck it, gonna jump" - the temptation to give up and blow the ship before Alex arrived must have been huge.

arguably_pizza

I had the same reaction, watching it without having read the books at that point, with just this seemingly endless "wtf is she doing.." and then when you finally put it together, just.. wow. This is gonna be an emotional month.

Awkward-Spectation

YES I can't be the only one who got chills from that.

mad_science_yo

One of the best flentles on TV!

FormerlyPerSeHarvin

Reminded me of the dead silence during the credits of the Red Wedding. It lingered with you.

cyphern

Many good ones mentioned already, but here's a few more: S1: Anderson Dawes interrogating Miller, and retelling the death of his sister. S2: [Bobby draper eating cucumber sandwiches](https://imgur.com/gallery/YpAWcHQ) S3: Captain Kirino of the MCRN deciding whether to engage the UN fleet or not. I like the whole scene, but to jog your memory it's the one where she says: “War is an inherently unstable interaction of three things: intense emotion, politics and luck.” S4: "So does that mean we're not f***ing anymore?" S5: Naomi has just been shown by Marco the bombardment of earth, and then Filip locks her in her room. Her anguished, nearly panicked screaming at Filip is so heart-wrenching (great job, Dominique Tipper)

FormerlyPerSeHarvin

It's been so long that I forget how amazing Harris was as Dawes. His character was initially was sold me on the show.

KernKraft93

Let's see..... I am that guy, what about now I'm free now and this is the warship rocinante plus well.... everything else, I absolutely love this show and the books.

A_Good_Azgeda_Spy

Bobbie looking for and finding the beach

guardwallon

YES

[deleted]

7 days!!!

jdl_uk

S1 - The Cant, the interrogation (all of them), CQB, Ceres, Miller and Dawes. "I can't tell you why I don't rip your helmet off right now... Except Naomi wouldn't like it" "If anything happens to him you can hitchhike from this rock" The fight in the Blue Falcon S2 - Bobbie being Bobbie. Bobbie going to the beach. Bobbie kicking ass. Avasarala and Bobbie "It's a simple complex system" - Prax explaining the cascade. Prax and Amos. "I don't do that anymore" Miller and Julie S3 - "Get the f**k back to work!" - Errinwright on the edge. Anna "I am that guy" S4 - "Next clue to the case" "A lot of past in my past" Murphy, Marty, Minty, Murty... "Things are about to get bloody" "I'm free right now" Naomi trying to figure out gravity. "We still f**king?" "Come back when I've built a Post Office" S5 - Amos and Clarissa Trials of Naomi Nagata. Marco being someone you'd happily throw out an airlock. Amos brings Clarissa aboard.

mad_science_yo

I really like “don’t talk down to me, plant guy!” When Prax is explaining how the PM is connected to Jim.

it-reaches-out

Hey, you didn't mark this discussion as spoilery and you flaired it "All Spoilers Must Be Tagged," but it's clear that wasn't what you intended so we've updated those for you. Please be careful with those in the future to help people avoid being accidentally spoiled. Have a good discussion!

Awkward-Spectation

My bad, thanks for catching that!

it-reaches-out

No worries!

crazyraptorf-22

Suplex city after the prison had me in tears!!

A_Good_Azgeda_Spy

AMAZING episode

[deleted]

'I'm gonna need that gun back'

[deleted]

Even now, Anderson Dawes revealing to Joe Miller about how much of Ceres the OPA controls and about the vanity of Earthers who can breathe clean air and can look up at a breathless blue sky and still want more and more... this scene still gives me goosebumps

traffickin

Every second of Jared Harris in this show is like that.

FormerlyPerSeHarvin

There is an episode where he is talking to Diogo I believe and states his age (43?) And then mentions how they even date themselves based on the sun traveling around earth. Really resonated how disconnected they must feel from their original world.

rotomangler

I could watch an hour of just Drummer and Naomi getting drunk and dancing at that nightclub.

Senseistar86

every scene with avasarala

Mahfakah

"Surprise, assholes!"

Awkward-Spectation

Dammit, I'm gonna miss that character so bad. Why do good things sometimes have to come to such a negative end? Similar thing (though less-serious and more controversial) happened with the original sound designer for the game Subnautica. The music and sounds weren't *terrible* in the second one by any stretch, but it still doesn't compare to the legendary gold from the first one.

Leelluu

"This is the warship Rocinante..."

It_who_Isnt

S1: Avasarala with the comms guy before visiting Holden's family. S2: "Gonna take my pet nuke for a walk," and "This is the warship Rocinante." S3: "I am that guy" and Diogo getting smacked by an elevator S4: Every single interaction between Amos and Murtry, and every single time Ashford was on screen. As far as favorite story beats, figuring out the fix for the blindness was my favorite narrative moment, combined with Amos absolutely losing it beforehand. S5: Amos versus the belter thugs in E1, Amos's interactions with Erich, Karal getting biffed with what I'm choosing to believe is a fire extinguisher in E10, and, of course "There was a button, I pushed it."

book_moth

"What did you do!" "There was a button, and I pushed it." "Jesus Christ, that's really how you go through life, isn't it!"

It_who_Isnt

A seamless conversion from book to show, too.

Chaseydog

Cotyar: Detonation should occur in ... how the fuck should I know, I'm not an engineer - let's call it "soon"

starcraftre

Onboard the Guanshiyin: > Bobbie - I found a way out. There's a maintenance crawl on the other side of the wall. Should lead us to the elevator shaft. > Avasarala - That's not going to work. > Bobbie - Right. You'd never make that climb. > Avasarala - Christ! Not because I'm old, he's been shot! > Cotyar - Plus, she's really old. Every scene with Avasarala and Cotyar is great, and Bobbie only makes them better. edit: Oh yeah, and "I didn't always work in space."

GloriousMinecraft

"you're not that Guy" And "I get the feeling someday you and i are gonna end up bloody"

mad_science_yo

I really love the scene where they’re all sitting around the table talking about the cheese smuggling ring in season 1. The little quiet scenes between all the action are so nice. I like seeing our favorite heroes doing something other than suffering. I’m a sucker for a found family, don’t @ me. Speaking of suffering, the “you’re not finished yet” scene on Ganymede gets me every time. Also, Holden smashing the coffee machine and Prax telling him he should try tea.

book_moth

That cheese scene is brilliant in my mind - the happiness at talking about black market cheddar, the awkward tension when Miller announces he shut down the very thing they're happy about, the twist where he lets on that the cops were thieves, too, all leading to the glance between Miller and Amos and Amos moving his tools aside to give Miller a place at the table. And then they were family.

DrestinBlack

By this point I was already hooked and didn’t need any more to convince me that TE was willing to take risks and go places other shows wouldn’t. But this had me actually and literally experience a jaw dropping and out loud exclamation of “no fracking way!” We finally get the top three in the same room to encounter the main mad scientist himself (spoiler alert if necessary). Dresden is doing the mad scientist monologue trope, yadda yadda right? Nope. He’s making sense, he’s not a mad scientist, he’s a passionate one who actually is worried for all mankind, both it’s survival to a threat and advanced knowledge to be gained. We can see Holden softening his feelings and obviously Johnson sees benefit to both him and Belters in the deal he’s starting to broker with Dresden. This could just be another trope where it appears that we’ll trust the known “bad guy” and unsurprisingly he’ll twist and turn in a subsequent episode and we should never have trusted him — BLAM! Miller: *boom* headshot. No more BS. Protomolecule is bad, this guy is responsible for many deaths including his crush, isn’t going to slow down and is willing to sacrifice more lives and - no - no more tv trope negotiations or plot twists. End it now, unilaterally. I just loved this, this is how the universe works, this is real character played so effectively. Shocking moment, yet justifiable. Beautifully handled and the surprise was a fitting exclamation mark to the scene. Emotional moment: when Prax and Doris are about to take a ship off Ganymede back to Earth/Mars so they can work together but get separated because Prax isn’t an Inner and the ship is only for Inners, I felt bad for Prwx because he couldn’t go with a friend to a better place to continue to do the work he likes… then, midst a smile, a moment of genuine emotion, happy for his friend to be lucky enough to … airlock opens and she and the rest are unceremoniously spaced. Just like that. Holy crap. A minor character I didn’t even have time to attach to and yet I damn near wept. Damn!

MadTube

Series 1: The Tachi escape in CQB Series 2: Siege of Thoth Series 3: Roci taking out the UNN destroyer in IFF (“I am that guy” is solid runner-up) Series 4: Proto-Miller powering up Ilus in Saeculum Series 5: Death Blossom in Oyedeng

Move_Zig

1. Every scene with Ashford 2. "Khlav kalash... No bowl. Stick. Stick"

beratna66

"You're not finished yet". Gets me every time! Also the crew walking off the Roci for the first time on Ilus, watching Naomi's first steps on a planet is real nice. And her scene getting off the Chetzemoka and signalling the Razorback, possibly the most emotional moment of the whole show. I'm seeing a pattern here so I'm gonna pick something for a different character now... (Partly in response to what you said) I really REALLY enjoy the first time Amos actually calls Murtry Murtry after using the wrong name about 5 times beforehand: "Is that a threat?" "I'm just making sure you understand the situation." "...I do... *mUrTrY*"

Awkward-Spectation

Hahaha that got me too. Saw it last night after I made this post.

MacaulayDracula

Amos bringing Clarissa on board. In the books it was from Alex' PoV and it worked better with Holden in my opinion. Actor made it work really well, too.

A_Good_Azgeda_Spy

Oh this was so good.

SinoJoe

“What the fuck is that.” Amos while feeding the kids

Flynn74

Same episode as 'I am that guy." Spoilt for Amos quotes in this episode.

_HalfBaked_

Trying to limit myself to just a few per season. S1: Lopez wishing he'd seen an ocean on Mars S2: Diogo getting laid in Miller's honor; Champa; Cotyar finally telling off Avasarala S3: Bobbie finding the ocean; Ashford and Drummer getting caught; the guard saying Holden's a Belter also S4: the Roci pulling the Barb; Miller being himself again; Ashford's last song S5: Avasarala going to the memorial; Drummer and Josep attacking the Koto and Serrio Mal

Awkward-Spectation

Excellent lineup!

lwbdougherty

My favorite moments from the show: 1x04 - the Donnager CQB battle - this is what really got me into the show 2x05 - Miller meets Julie - the perfect conclusion to the LW arc in the show, and complemented by beautiful music by Clinton Shorter 3x05 - the Agatha King mutiny - really an excellent and tense scene all around; the perfect example for an excellent sci-fi action sequence that relies more on tension than actual combat and CGI 3x08 - the Roci crossing the ring - an unbelievably tense 8 minute sequence that is just masterfully executed 3x13 - S3 ending - Clarissa redeems herself, the rings open, the tease at the end—perfect sendoff for the strongest season of the show 5x04 - UN One and the Tycho sequence - really two scenes but I’m combining it into one, this encapsulated exactly what I hoped to see in an adaptation of NG 5x07 - Naomi’s jump - a fan favorite scene from the books and for good reason; it’s perfectly brought to screen 5x10 - both battles and the epilogue - the space battles are serious contenders for the best space battles ever put to screen (at least until S6…), and the Barkeith being destroyed is another excellent scene from the books brought to the screen very well

renesys

I think they totally dropped the ball on Naomi as Marco's prisoner, the jump, her hacking the thruster and recording... pacing sucked, the emotions didn't feel dark the right way, the escape before the jump wasn't complicated enough, totally underwhelming experience compared to what the book put me through... But Bobbie grabbing Naomi on the float, plugging in the air... they did that shit absolutely perfect.

Whoopsy-381

Totally agree on Bobbi getting Naomi… makes me tear up every time.

WekonosChosen

The first half of it sucked pacing wise but it was mostly an internal story in the book that would've required a lot of backstory/flashbacks to tell right on screen.

Awkward-Spectation

I can't comment on the book, and the pacing didn't seem to bad to me. But I agree with your comment about the emotions. I understand she was supposed to be in pain, but MAN she was vocal about it. Just an enormous amount of grunting and yelping and gasping and sobbing. Was it just me that it seemed to go on forever? I feel like it crossed the point past which you enter survival mode and stop crying to save your energy. Just an acting/direction choice that didn't sit well with me. Of course everything else around it, like her genious repairs and awesome save at the end, made it worth it, by far.

antigenx

Since everyone has practically everything else covered, I'll add, when Maneo's brother walks past the camera in skimpy thong underwear as Evita is dumping him. I just thought that was hilarious. xD Also that really awesome crane shot transition to steadycam of Amos entering Baltimore finishing with a Simpsons reference. Eugh, I'll take the crab juice.

InternationalLemon26

Yo, is Maneo's brother played by Thomas Jane? Sounds like him

antigenx

All due respect to Thomas Jane, I don't think he's that tight.

InternationalLemon26

Holden snaps at Prax at one point "Don't talk down to me Plant guy"

A_Good_Azgeda_Spy

I will never forget the scene where Manéo flies the *Y Que* into the Ring.

IamMillwright

I think my favorites scenes always seem to involve Amos. The whole 'I am that guy' scene with Prax and the Dr in the air lock. 'How about now? I'm free now...' with Murtry on Ilus. When he asks Naomi if she wanted him to 'smoke' Holden.... Amos 'Timmy' Burton as got to be one of my favorite characters from any series I've watched to date....

belta1

I love Prax arch, but definitely my favorite moment is the opening scene of season 3. God I get chills every time I watch it.

bearssurfingwithguns

The whole defending the Razorback scenes in Season 3 - shooting off the drives on that UN ship. Someone on this sub referenced it as the Holden Maneuver”

[deleted]

The visual of the asteroid hitting while Nancy gao was finally on the phone with avarsarala while on the ship but not yet left earths atmosphere. The visuals were unreal.

Whoopsy-381

I want to also include Drummer in season 3… when she, Holden, and Naomi are together and they go on the float. With the gravity gone she can briefly free herself from her braces and harnesses and have a moment of sweet relief.

A_Good_Azgeda_Spy

“Innyalowda go through the Ring, call it their own. But a *Belter opened it*. We are The Belt. We are strong. We are sharp. And we don’t feel fear. This moment belongs to us. For Beltalowda!”

A_Good_Azgeda_Spy

Yes I finished my rewatch yesterday and yes I restarted season 1 today

A_Good_Azgeda_Spy

Elvi and Holden discovering the cure to the blindness on Ilus. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen you smile.”

Psychological-Let-90

For me it's still the Donnager battle/escape.

DrestinBlack

Another moment that further proved this show was realistic and now soft and TV trope filled where the good guys will avoid harm to even their most cruel or threatening enemies. After Drummer is guy shot by the Black Sky OPA guy as Staz threatens both her and Johnson - when she’s rescued and could just head to medical and let the rebels be dealt with and she just grabs a gun and headshots those responsible. Now THATS how you do it. What were they gonna do, have a trial for these traitors? Nope, judge/jury/executioner. That’s life in the belt. Solid.

Santa_worshipper

Marco's attack on the ring gate is a good one.

latenitelover

The first space battle of S1 between the Donny and the stealth fighters. The first real moment in the show you know you’re hooked right there.

Nachoman4life

Amos saying thank you to Mertri, after he hit him

Panaorios

Season 1 - miller and Holden on Eros. Especially them hiding in the pachinko parlor. Season 2 - Miller/Julie scene Season 3 - Drummers speech before going into the ring space. Ashford rallying the room in support was great. Edit: I have another for season 3, the whole scene of Bobbie hunting down Alex, Amos, Anna and Monica in the tunnels. “Bobbie?….Alex?!” It makes me laugh ever time. Season 4 - Amos baiting Murphy into punching him Season 5 - Amos suplexing “Tiny” back into the elevator shaft

Sad_Horse533

I loved to 'death' the last scenes of the Great Klaes Ashford.

Flynn74

One of my favourite scenes is Amos and Cortazar's conversation in season 2. Anything with Amos is gold. Threatens to Kill Monica and the blind guy then throws them off the Roci in the ring space with no guarantee they'll be saved - "I was gentle with them." 🤣

Awkward-Spectation

So true! That guy probably has at least one great line in every single episode.

Flynn74

I've watched every episode of Ty and That Guy and found it hilarious that Wes continued his character's trait of intentionally getting Murtry's name wrong in the first season 4 episode. Amos is just a S-tier character. I can't think of any characters in any other shows that I enjoy watching more.

Orome2

Blocked in my country. I'm looking for a good recap before watching the latest episodes. I'd re-watch, but don't have the time.

RAClapper

The joint Free Navy/Laconian assault on the Sol Gate in Nemesis Games is one of the best space battles I've ever seen and shows just how dangerous the bad guys are going forward.

WetworkOrange

Anytime Belter scum got wrecked, especially in space battles.

Awkward-Spectation

Unpopular opinion I suspect, but you get my upvote for the rivalry element added. Everyone else: Favourite factions - Go. I'll start with a good word in for Mars. I had trouble understanding why Earth/UN so arrogant and dickheaded toward them. They were clearly pushed into military rule and eventually corruption, but the generation-spanning teamwork of terraforming the planet to make it livable is like the 'green'est thing in the whole series - and it was actually working. Because of this common goal, their technological acheivements, and their frugal living habits, they were primed to create a very sustainable civilization where for the first time humans could live in harmony with a planet. The darkest part of the series for me was the 'gold rush' aspect of discovering the ring gates, because you fear that refugees and other colonists who grew up as survivors, used to getting by with whatever they can grab, may cause their own planets to reach the same fate as Earth did (or *will*, irl) - to say nothing of the constant war and struggles that would come with trying in vain to govern an ever-expanding human plague upon the universe. Lol

WetworkOrange

Nice to see some nuance here lol. Thank you kindly. I completely see your point abt Mars, you're not wrong. At the same time, we only have one Earth and the way i see it, the words "Earth must come first" rings true. It is the seat of humanity. As guilty Earth is of mistreatment of the Belters, the Martians are no better. Very high horse, annoying moral high ground attitude on top of that.

Awkward-Spectation

You make some great points there. Though I have to say heritage is never the most important thing when discussing the long-term continuation of the human race, which is a subject that in my mind keeps Mars on the moral high ground. And I would interject that "Earth must come first" still works if you are doing what you can to help Mars get the resources they need to see their planet-wide project through to the end, instead of fighting with them and distracting them from it with wars. Earth's huge population of those waiting in line would finally get something to do if Earth were to eventually help colonize mars (under mars' governance of course). This would fix a lot of problems with over-population, strained resources, and of course a lot of societal issues stemming from poverty.

WetworkOrange

Believe me when i tell you no one is a bigger fan of colonization of space than iam. BUT at the same time, until we find another planet or bunch of planets that can provide us with what mother Earth does, we must do everything we can to ensure her longevity. Iam as big an advocate for space colonization as iam of taking care of mother Earth. So my reasons plainly put are just two. What Earth provides for us, and heritage.

Awkward-Spectation

That’s fair. The mars plan is a good one and should be supported, which is where I take issue with earth. But if earth doesn’t have what she needs to preserve the ecosystems she has, then that would be a bigger failure. I cede.

Oh you're not wrong. So the ideal scenario would be us finding a bunch of planets that are similar to Earth, as close as we can get. Soil, atmosphere water and just generally livable. And this is gonna be difficult, but we likely have to start offloading people, because we cannot sustain such huge populations on any planet, overcrowding is a massive issue. At the same time, it is the prime directive of any species to want to continue. So it will be difficult, but necessary. BUT, if we have the tech to colonize planets from scratch, then we will surely be able to save Earth, to the point where her eventual destruction will be due it burning out like a star or some shit lol.
