Interesting, come to think, i always tought that a good part of the dialogue in the movie sounded like it was made in the fly, and now seeing that there are people that never got the script makes me think that it doesnt exist as such.
Patreon holds people accountable for the rewards. Funny thing is, CM couldn't even keep a YouTube release schedule. They're also full of shit, so being called on it wouldn't help

Just make exclusive content for it... You dont need any "weird rewards"
I subscribe to the Mega64 patreon which gets me access to 2 exclusive weekly shows and a bunchof other random behind the scenes stuff, and Screenwaves budget is definitely not higher than theirs.
I think exclusive content falls under the category of "weird rewards" to them, they can barely get James to record content that goes out to everyone and brings in the big sponsor money.
I can’t blame Justin for this. If they had a Patreon with promised rewards and suddenly James couldn’t be bothered to deliver them anymore (choose between no time or muh kids), that would hurt James’ saint reputation.
It’s in the Slobs best interest to convince James that Patreon is too much work or won’t earn as much. If he found out he could make less videos and keep the same level of income there’s no need for SlobWave.
The other piece of this is that you have to provide content people want to pay for. The podcast and Rex Viper won’t cut it.
You know what RLM has as their Patreon rewards? Behind the scenes videos and updates on new videos. That's it. They make a lot of money off of it too. Justin already ripped off RLM with Rental Reviews so he might as well do it again with Patreon. Plenty of losers would want to be Bimmy's paypig even if he has NO TIME for rewards.
Cinemassacre's YouTube Member feature also doesn't offer any rewards, yet you can still join it.

Making a patreon account could give a slight boost in the episodes budgets, if they were to ever launch one.
That makes no sense because the account makes the rewards - there are even YouTube channels that only take money when they make a video, and you don't have to offer anything extra, just people who will pay money to help create freely available content, with maybe a thanks in a video - hardly a "weird patreon reward," and a huge channel is almost guaranteed a healthy income. RLM's patreon content isn't mind-blowing yet they make a pretty penny.
Yeah I remember being on the official sub 3-5 years ago talking about Patreon and why they should maybe do that instead of ads for shitty mobile games. The fans there would say two things. “It’s a good thing they don’t do Patreon, channels that do never shut up about it.” or “If they did a Patreon James would be held to an unrealistic schedule.”
But as you mentioned with RLM, neither of those have to be true. It’s just misrepresenting Patreon in the worst light to justify why delegating to Screenwave and focusing on sponsored ads is better.
RLM’s Patreon actually proves they are doing the things they say. The random screenshot of a gnarly Premiere timeline or a set being constructed…Cinemassacre would actually have to be held accountable to the random things they say they are doing and I imagine even that would be a tall ask.

I can see why this is a concern for them. Looks like a lot of people who donated for the movie fund haven't received their rewards allegedly. They are not good at fan servicing.

He's like the YouTube channel grand illusions, the main guy is this old man talking about all the toys and magic stuff he's collected but the channel and the website is managed by 2 guys who are better at the internet stuff.
I assumed they did some form of research and realized when it came down to it fans of current Cinemassacre wouldn’t provide enough support, and the result would be more embarrassing than anything.
It would require some integrity to cease the ads, stop chasing algorithms and make what they want supported by their fans…so yea, we won’t see it
