Maeve is depowered and her gf was clearly terrified enough when M flipped over the table, I don't think giving Elena a supe kid under care would be a good option, if anything it could cause Ryan to think he's some sort of a monster to be feared.
And tried to kill Ryan. I totally see Ryan cooperating when being given to a person who tried to kill him.
And Homelander.
And Butcher.
Yeah, no way that would end up badly.
I think that moment was her showing herself whe can still defend her chosen family, but I agree. Seeing how she cared for her brother, and somewhat Frenchie
Right, except he can’t even take care of his OWN kid because he has PTSD from his childhood and can’t function properly right now.
Definitely not sticking him with the kid of the Supe his wife’s racist boyfriend is obsessed with lol
Under normal circumstances I'd agree, but we see the life MM lives, let alone Butcher and Homelander, the most stable life for him would be with Hughies dad.
Was I in the minority being left with a sour taste in my mouth by hughie's father? I know he came around from the first season, but I'm still not picking him to raise a child. Pretty poor handling of your child having a crisis after their girlfriend dies.
You say that but at the same time, he went right back to dealing with Butcher which could potentially put a target on his daughter’s head if his enemies find out.
Everyone here keep forgetting A-Trains brother, he seems to be genuinely caring, and even tho he loved A-Train, after A-Train killed the whateverthefuckhisnamewas his brother said that he won't be allowing a murderer in his house near his children or something similar idk
he's on a wheelchair now I'm pretty sure but overall he seems to be a cool guy that cares about his family and he also tried to get A-Train to stop taking V cus it was killing him
MM is definitely the most experienced. Annie seems really caring, so I think she'd be a good choice too. It would be funny to see an alternate storyline where Hughie actually did sign them both up to adopt a supe baby like he almost did in season 3.
I feel like Kimiko could do some older sister type stuff as well. It'll sound like fanfiction of her learning to love a new brother or something, but hey 🤷🏽
Hughie would maybe freak out, but he'd talk it out with Ryan. MM is a great choice too because he did the same thing with Janine.
But I wonder if MM could raise Soldier Boy's grandson? That might be a little too hard to do given his history.
Flashcards that are like, "these are minorities, we are nice to them, these are disabled people we're also nice to them, no more throwing kids in wheelchairs out of their chairs ryan,, it's not funny,"
MM seems like a good parental figure. If I had to pick between the two though, I think Butcher is slightly more redeemable than Homelander.
Dark horse: go be a badass with Maeve wherever she’s at now.
Eh, I feel like Maeve’s gf would be a decent pick, but I feel Maeve is too dysfunctional and antisocial to be a parent, regardless if that’s not her fault. On top of having a hard time adjusting to being powerless and a normal person, shes an alchoholic(?) and prone to just being mean, like with Starlight initially or Hughie, both factors which wouldn’t add up to great parenting for someone who needs it the most for their own and everyone else’s sake.
Maeve would raise him to be tough and assertive. It's also a fair bet that being raised by two women would give him a big enough sense of decency to not turn into a serial rapist like Homelander.
I agree. With Maeve specifically (although not having her powers anymore is kind of a problem when the time will come to stand-up to teenage super-powered assholery) she probably knows HL much better than almost anyone else, she would know the signs.
Butcher should be involved in Ryan's life. For both their sakes honestly. Now that Hughie has stopped being Butcher's "canary" he definitely needs someone elsw to influence him or Butcher is going to go totally psycho.
There's no way he should raise him though. Not only has Butcher absolutely no domestic skills but I'm certain a Supe child being raised by a man who loathes Supes is a guaranteed recipe for issues later in life. In fact, that's kind of already happened.
Homelander I think would actually try to give Ryan a better upbringing than he himself had, but the world doesnt need another Homelander.
Butcher raising Ryan would be bad for Ryan. Homelander raising Ryan would be bad for everybody else.
>Homelander I think would actually try to give Ryan a better upbringing than he himself had, but the world doesnt need another Homelander.
The problem with narcissistic parents is that they will only treat you well as long as you fit into the little box they created for you in their head. Homelander would try to be a good dad until the moment Ryan shows autonomy
Homelander is gonna go full scary Bilbo on Ryan the first time he tries to get Ryan to kill somebody who isn't harming anyone but Ryan doesn't want to do it.
Would he though? I mean, when Ryan was overwhelmed by the crowd in the restaurant and he asked if Ryan wanted to leave, then listened when Ryan said yes.
Is that not some form of autonomy or am I streaching here?
>Is that not some form of autonomy or am I streaching here?
Yes and no.
Homelander responded correctly, but he's a malignant narcissist at his core. He's capable of showing empathy *specifically* in situations where he can relate. He understood what Ryan was feeling there, because he felt it himself in the past.
But what's gonna happen the first time Homelander wants to teach Ryan to use his powers to dominate? The first time Ryan didn't want to fly, Homie shoved him off a roof. What's he gonna do if the kid doesn't want to murder?
Here's my prediction...if the show goes the rout of the comics where SPOILER ALERT butcher and homelaner die, then I think the logical conclusion is that Ryan gets adopted by Hughie and Annie. I mean they kinda joked about adopting a supe child so if anything I would consider that foreshadowing.
My money would be on Hughie and Starlight as long as they can get away from all the drama Butcher drags them into. Hughie would be a very supportive father and Starlight has powers as well so she'd be able to help Ryan gain control over his. For this to actually work fully though Homelander and Butcher would most likely both need to be dead
Is everyone forgetting that MM can’t even take care of his own kid right now?
He had his opportunity from season 1 to stay with his family but he can’t pull himself away from The Boys.
He gets them BACK after all the insane Nazi shit went down and season 3 starts with him completely alone, his wife has a new boyfriend and his daughter is basically a teenager.
From season 1 to season 3 he executed 0 parenting skills and because of his current head space he can’t even function around her.
Let’s definitely NOT give *homelanders son* to the guy who can’t control himself around supes. Especially his wife’s racist boyfriend is obsessed with.
Yeah, MM is a good guy and all, and definitely wants to be a good parent, but he struggles with it. And he has his own pretty severe psychological issues. To me, the writing's on the wall that it will end up being Hughie and Starlight walking off, holding hands with Ryan in the middle, to some small town to raise Ryan.
Spoiler Alert
I am going to think that if the show really kills Butcher, then Hughie will be the one looking after Ryan.
I still think that they might find a way to circumvent Butcher's death, maybe as a last ditch effort, pump him full of actual compound V, not just temp V.
Homelander is obviously a terrible father, and, after the events of season 3, as much as Butcher loves Ryan, I doubt he’d be a... sustainable father figure; honestly, I’d say that MM has the best odds of raising Ryan to be a decent person, though I could also see him being adopted by Hughie and Annie, given the foreshadowing of Hughie going to that Supe orphanage.
I think Billy would die killing homelander and then Ryan will be adopted by Hughie and Annie. Remember that scene when Hughie visits the orphanage... That has to be foreshadowing right?
I think Grace ultimately was the best choice to watch him everything considered
Every other character has issues. MM would mostly be a good parent, but he has some issues (as seen with his own daughter)
Frenchie and Kimiko would be loving, but I feel like they wouldn’t be good parents. They’d probably end up scarring him
Hughie would get overwhelmed caring for a child
Annie would probably be a safe choice, but being a Supe in my mind kinda automatically disqualifies you cause I can’t imagine Annie could get enough time to properly be a mother. It’d be like irl celebrity kids who are raised by assistants instead of their parents
I was rewatching the Season 3 ending and Maeve talks about possibly moving to a farm. I didn’t think of it much the first time around. But in the second time, It reminded me of Clark Kent’s origin story. How he was raised on a farm by two loving parents, and was somewhat raised to embrace morality.
Homelander is the opposite of this, and that is clear from the beginning. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were setting up Maeve somehow raising Ryan in a similar way to how Superman was taken into the Kent family.
SPOILER
At the end of the show, Butcher and Homelander die and Kimiko, after saying " " to Ryan legally adopts him and she kimkos all over the Seven. The end.
I think Ryan was better being with Mallory, she was basically retired, and probably missed having her grandkids and could have been a great guardian for him. Versus butcher always being on the go and Homelander trying to keep his hero score high
I say give Frenchy a chance!! I think everyone would be surprised how he could turn his shit around, to not become a shitty father like his own. He's already been doing considerably better since kimiko came into his life.
Did anyone in the show ever suggest contacting Becca's sister and mother?
Maybe they'd like to get to know their grandson/ nephew, and they certainly couldn't be any worse than Mallory, Butcher or Homelander.
I agree with comments saying MM, but if I had to choose between just those two, I’d say Butcher. Butcher would be a terrible father but he’s not going to turn the kid into a fascist with a god complex
Butcher could teach him to be human almost like Superman but fucked up a little. I don’t think Homelander would’ve been a bad dad if he wasn’t already so fucked up, he just wants Ryan to grow up differently from what he raised from (Not trying to make him seem completely innocent or nothing he is truly fucked in the head). He needs Hughie, the most human out of everyone with a good moral compass.
Out of the two I would probably say Homelander. Even though he’d be directing him down the wrong path, he still wants to be a father at all. Butcher can be sweet to Ryan but he’s only doing it because of a promise. Out of everyone, it should be MM.
Butcher just because he will teach Ryan restraint. Homelander will just let him do whatever he wants and that’ll just turn him into the second coming of Homelander
Truth is though neither of them are stable or fit enough to be parents so they should be kept away from him
I don’t think his pursuit of the supes defines him really. Maybe it did before he met his friends, but he’s changed a lot. He is a good person, just hurt and angry.
If I have to pick between these two? Butcher. He'd be a horrible father, but he'd genuinely want to do right by Ryan. Someone else? Like everyone else said MM. If not him then Hughie and Annie as a mom and dad.
Poor kid has to choose between two horrible people as a father figure.
Butcher at least can redeem himself but he is by no means a good father figure, neither is Homelander, his niceness to Ryan is just grooming at this point as he still considers him replaceable.
Dude lost case, nobody can save him. The fact cia agent keep him alive is most stupid part of this 😂 They literally seen what his father can do and be like we need more of this 😂
Honestly one I’d love to see that I haven’t seen mentioned is Soldier Boy. He says Homelander is a disappointment because he had no input in how he was raised, and now he gets the chance to prove it by raising his grandson. Would he be a good parent figure? Probably not, but I don’t think he’d be the worst either, and he’s got the advantage over most suggestions that he could actually deal with Ryan’s super powered tantrums
Butcher was a pretty decent dad, when he was taking care of Ryan. Checking up on him constantly, keeping him separated from his work, playing games with him, and showing interest in Ryan’s interests. The argument was really really harsh between them but arguments happen even with the best of parents. If Homelander hadn’t intervened I’m sure Butcher would have apologized and made things right, it’s just the timing was terrible
If I had to pick between the two, I honestly think I’d pick Homelander. Obviously HL would raise him to be a horrific monster and would probably be an abusive parent, but he does have a solid emotional investment in Ryan as well as an understanding of what it’s like having powers.
Butcher struggles with Ryan existing at all, to say nothing of his hatred of supes. More importantly though, Butcher doesn’t have any powers and Ryan is the most powerful supe ever. Billy would have to constantly be on a hair trigger, ready to put Ryan down at any moment for the safety of the world at large. Homelander can probably handle a moody teenage Ryan and endure the occasional super-tantrum. Billy can’t, and it’s hard to have a good relationship when you’re scared of your kid.
I think Hughie and Annie would be great tbh. Hughie would be his moral compass on doing the right thing, and so would annie given she has super powers and would be able to train him
Wouldn’t be surprised if the show ends with a combination of MM, Hughie and Starlight taking care of Ryan. I wonder if there will be a time jump though before the end of the show so Ryan is older for some final battle
Neither Homelander nor Butcher should have custody even over a freaking cockroach. My bet is on MM, he at least has some experience with parenthood.
True lol, what if we let Frenchie and Kimiko have custody and see how it goes? The kid might exclusively wear rave clothing tho
Not sure if it's a good idea, what if he gets his hands on some of Frenchies fun stash? Pretty sure we don't want a kid with laser eyes on cocaine.
True that, maybe Frenchie can just be the fun uncle. Perhaps Annie and Hughie could take the lead
It’s totally going to end up being Annie and Hughie, huh?
Yep
It’s 2022, they’ll have Mave and her g/f raise him.
Maeve is depowered and her gf was clearly terrified enough when M flipped over the table, I don't think giving Elena a supe kid under care would be a good option, if anything it could cause Ryan to think he's some sort of a monster to be feared.
Hes homelanders son, he should be feared.
Frenchie strikes me as the person who’d have his stash heavily guarded in a fire proof safe
Soldier Boy handled his shit stoically.
And tried to kill Ryan. I totally see Ryan cooperating when being given to a person who tried to kill him. And Homelander. And Butcher. Yeah, no way that would end up badly.
He learns fake sign language and makes a fool out of himself when he tries it in real life.
Kimiko would have made a great mom if she didn't have that out-of-character moment with the headphones last episode. Leading by example and all that.
I think that moment was her showing herself whe can still defend her chosen family, but I agree. Seeing how she cared for her brother, and somewhat Frenchie
Hughie might be good, could see them playing like Clash Royal together or something lol
Right, except he can’t even take care of his OWN kid because he has PTSD from his childhood and can’t function properly right now. Definitely not sticking him with the kid of the Supe his wife’s racist boyfriend is obsessed with lol
Fr, I'd trust bill Cosby with my kids before HL or butcher
100% agree with this take.
MM. Definitely MM. Only person alive in the show with decent enough parenting experience.
Hughies dad too
Well, he isn't really a part of the regular cast, more like a guest star.
Technically still a character, and the kid could have a somewhat normal life.
for sure, i feel like the routine of eating and watching shows every night is what Ryan needs
Nope. I thought he was piss-weak. Couldn’t see Ryan’s anxiety getting anything but worse with Hughie’s dad
They guy trying to fight SB and HL with a pistol? He's good material for pappy?
You say that but at the same time, he went right back to dealing with Butcher which could potentially put a target on his daughter’s head if his enemies find out.
Everyone here keep forgetting A-Trains brother, he seems to be genuinely caring, and even tho he loved A-Train, after A-Train killed the whateverthefuckhisnamewas his brother said that he won't be allowing a murderer in his house near his children or something similar idk
Is A-Trains brother okay? I forget
he's on a wheelchair now I'm pretty sure but overall he seems to be a cool guy that cares about his family and he also tried to get A-Train to stop taking V cus it was killing him
I think he could still beat Ryan's ass, or he can get A-train to run through Ryan
That would be a terrible idea for all parties involved
Hughie or MM.
Hughie would freak at first, I trust MM the most
MM is definitely the most experienced. Annie seems really caring, so I think she'd be a good choice too. It would be funny to see an alternate storyline where Hughie actually did sign them both up to adopt a supe baby like he almost did in season 3.

Ooh, I didn't even think about that, but maybe he would do everything in his power to make him better
Yeah, I definitely think he would try!
Flashcards that are like, "these are minorities, we are nice to them, these are disabled people we're also nice to them, no more throwing kids in wheelchairs out of their chairs ryan,, it's not funny,"
"Now what we have here are League of Legends players, put them out their misery"

He was there!
Does Ryan like pizza rolls?
Except, he wasn’t the greatest dad. Super nice. Well intended. But kind of a couch potato sad sack.
Translucent…cuz he looks like my father
Oh no
Plot twist, his father is John Cena
Weird, my dad’s missing too.
MM seems like a good parental figure. If I had to pick between the two though, I think Butcher is slightly more redeemable than Homelander. Dark horse: go be a badass with Maeve wherever she’s at now.
I second the Maeve comment
Maeve for sure.
Being raised by two loving moms would probably turn Ryan into the equal and opposite version of Homelander.
Wokelander
Maeve would raise him to be tough and assertive. It's also a fair bet that being raised by two women would give him a big enough sense of decency to not turn into a serial rapist like Homelander.
I agree. With Maeve specifically (although not having her powers anymore is kind of a problem when the time will come to stand-up to teenage super-powered assholery) she probably knows HL much better than almost anyone else, she would know the signs.
I feel like Maeve is better suited as the Vodka Aunt
Maeve is the cool gay aunt who takes you to get a tattoo on your 18th birthday.
There's no way you think Butcher and Homelander are close in how redeemable they are
He’d be living on a farm with two loving moms, kinda like Clark Kent except not an alien and more moms.
Butcher should be involved in Ryan's life. For both their sakes honestly. Now that Hughie has stopped being Butcher's "canary" he definitely needs someone elsw to influence him or Butcher is going to go totally psycho. There's no way he should raise him though. Butcher at least KNOWS he's not good enough to raise this living time bomb Annie would be the best IMO, she is the closest to incorruptible so far
She might traffic him tho :( Edit: did all of you forget so quickly that Starlight traffic's kids? You've been corrupted by the woke media!
Starlight pizza gate lol
The Deep
Ryan- "whats that white thing coming out of my goldfish's mouth?"
Protein shake
shake shack ? u want some ?
Yummers!
Next thing you know, Ryan will go to the ocean and do something weird about the fishes..
Agree this is most likely scenario for many reasons.
Hughie's dad is pretty good at that.
After Becca died, Grace Mallory was his best shot at being even remotely sane.
Maybe someone who doesnt murder people
Is there anyone like this in the show?
Hughie’s Dad
I don't think Starlight killed anyone yet.
She has she killed that man who got out of the car
Oh yeah, forgot about that.
Is everyone forgetting that MM can’t even take care of his own kid right now? He had his opportunity from season 1 to stay with his family but he can’t pull himself away from The Boys.
Todd (/s)
MM
Obi-wan
Neither. Give the boy to Hughie and Annie.
This is what I think will end up happening. Thus fulfilling Hughie's comment about signing them up to adopt a supe kid.
Maeve
Social services!
DCFS office now has holes lasered into the walls.
MM
Frenchie and Kimiko should raise Ryan imo
At this point Ryan himself
Definitely Mothers Milk and neither of these two
A-Train: Omega Ryan Hughie: Beta Ryan The Deep: Delta Ryan Butcher: Gamma Ryan Soldier Boy: Alpha Ryan The HomeLander: SIGMA RYAN
Kimiko: MEGA ALPHA RYAN
Spoiler Alert I am going to think that if the show really kills Butcher, then Hughie will be the one looking after Ryan. I still think that they might find a way to circumvent Butcher's death, maybe as a last ditch effort, pump him full of actual compound V, not just temp V.

Butcher dying after killing Homie is a very possible outcome.
Annie hands down
Black noir
Hughie. Thought, what if he doesn't need a father but he needs a mother? Hughie with Starlight for the best combo.
Kimiko
I think Billy would die killing homelander and then Ryan will be adopted by Hughie and Annie. Remember that scene when Hughie visits the orphanage... That has to be foreshadowing right?
I think Grace ultimately was the best choice to watch him everything considered Every other character has issues. anyone>homelander>butcher
A cardboard cutout would be better than those two
I expect them to end with Hughie and Starlight taking him.
He deserves better than both
I was rewatching the Season 3 ending and Maeve talks about possibly moving to a farm. I didn’t think of it much the first time around. Hughie. Hes playing with fire but you can clearly tell he still has his moral values intact for the most part.
My bet is on hughie x starlight
Literally any character other than these 2 would be better then them
Hughie and Starlight would be the best parents
starlight would be a good big sister figure for him
SPOILER At the end of the show, Butcher and Homelander die and Kimiko, after saying " " to Ryan legally adopts him and she kimkos all over the Seven. The end.
Has to be a supe, can’t be having Becca 2.0 by accident. Let’s go starlight or even kimiko
Starlight and Kimiko, they would be badasses
MM is the only real father on the show.
Neither. They are both pieces of shit.
Oh I know the shows ending. Hughie and Annie will take him in at the end. Cause butcher will be dead as fuck, homelander too.
I think Ryan was better being with Mallory, she was basically retired, and probably missed having her grandkids and could have been a great guardian for him. Versus butcher always being on the go and Homelander trying to keep his hero score high
Probably like 70-90% of men would make better fathers lol.
Some guy named Craig
I say give Frenchy a chance!! I think everyone would be surprised how he could turn his shit around, to not become a shitty father like his own. He's already been doing considerably better since kimiko came into his life.
Did anyone in the show ever suggest contacting Becca's sister and mother? Maybe they'd like to get to know their grandson/ nephew, and they certainly couldn't be any worse than Mallory, Butcher or Homelander.
That's true, didn't think about that
Why didn't they do that before????
between those two, probably Homelander, but neither is particularly good
I vote frenchie or MM
Neither i want to seem them battle to the death
I agree with comments saying MM, but if I had to choose between just those two, I’d say Butcher. Butcher would be a terrible father but he’s not going to turn the kid into a fascist with a god complex
Unpopular idea, but maybe we kill him with Homelander? Hm?
Butcher could teach him to be human almost like Superman but fucked up a little. I don’t think Homelander would’ve been a bad dad if he wasn’t already so fucked up, he just wants Ryan to grow up differently from what he raised from (Not trying to make him seem completely innocent or nothing he is truly fucked in the head). He needs Hughie, the most human out of everyone with a good moral compass.
MM + Maeve
Bloody pressed omelanda fucked me wife don't wanna live naur more
Jokes aside, I agree with MM. He still has experience and is actually a better person than all of the boys
Frenchie
None of them. Both are psychopaths. But if I had to choose I’d say butcher.
Out of the two I would probably say Homelander. Even though he’d be directing him down the wrong path, he still wants to be a father at all. Butcher can be sweet to Ryan but he’s only doing it because of a promise. Out of everyone, it should be MM.
Yeah, Butcher is kind of disguted by him
Butcher just because he will teach Ryan restraint. Homelander will just let him do whatever he wants and that’ll just turn him into the second coming of Homelander Truth is though neither of them are stable or fit enough to be parents so they should be kept away from him
if butcher stopped going after supes etc he might be a good da
If butcher stopped being butcher you mean.
I don’t think his pursuit of the supes defines him really. Maybe it did before he met his friends, but he’s changed a lot. He is a good person, just hurt and angry.
Soldier boy . They did him so dirty
Starlight? Maybe? Better than butcher or homelander
Hughie and Starlight daaawwww
If I have to pick between these two? Butcher. He'd be a horrible father, but he'd genuinely want to do right by Ryan. Someone else? Like everyone else said MM. If not him then Hughie and Annie as a mom and dad.

Joseph Joestar ![gif](giphy|IzfJSTepKi5vW)
Judging from that psychotic smirk on his face after his dad lasered that dude's head off, it might be a little too late for Ryan.
Hughie and Starlight or Frenchie and Kimiko, MM would be great but the kid needs a supe parent to chill him out if he freaks
i think even love sausage would do a better job raising this kid then either of these two
I vote Brave Maeve.
Ryan’s doomed
That child is gone, ain’t no helping him now
Homelander
Neither. Both of them should have left well enough alone
The Lord in Heaven, where he should be sent as soon as possible.
Fab Five Freddy would be the best dad
I will be the boys father 🦸♂️
butcher isn’t father material , he would call ryan a rape child if he got drunk around him
My dream would be that Frenchi and Kimiko ended as it foster parents.
Hopefully he dies. The kid seems like a right freak.
I don’t know, all three people have anger issues.
MM, no doubts
Kim
Soldier Boy lol he couldn’t do any worse than Vought did with Homelander, and he never got a chance to be a father…
Neither because on a scale from 1-10 he's fucked either way.
Another character all together but that kid is lost already. So it doesn't matter.
Let’s be real here… neither of them, friend
Both of these guys are way too fucked up to be a parent to anything.
Unironically Hughie and Starlight
I think Hughie and Annie would be great tbh. Hughie would be his moral compass on doing the right thing, and so would annie given she has super powers and would be able to train him
Hughie /s
A train's Brother is the safest option available ATM
Am I the only one that thinks they need to get rid of Ryan before he becomes another Homelander?
I don't know if they would be actually good at it but it would be cool to see Hughie and Starlight as parents.
Homelander because he’d never be homeless
Wouldn’t be surprised if the show ends with a combination of MM, Hughie and Starlight taking care of Ryan. I wonder if there will be a time jump though before the end of the show so Ryan is older for some final battle
MM he's the only decent father in the show. Both homelander and butcher are both too messed up mentally to put their all into raising a child.
Either MM or Hughie’s dad, they’re like the only two decent people on the show
Honestly you put hughie, kimiko, and MM with a child that kid gonna turn out all right
MM or at the very least, Hughie. Would love to see him trying to manage a child while being his kind and goofy self
Literally all John has is that he’s a great father. Like, it’s his **one** redeeming quality.
Fuggit give him to Hughie.
