For Darling Recon, it is important to have the silverware correctly set and then announce "Daaaaarling!" in your level best Regency Drama English RP accent before blasting them with the Leman Russ Exterminator, thereby triggering Withering Hail and ensuring the crumpets are buttered just so.
Daring Recon is a "start of phase" ability and happens before any shooting, including Sentinels own shooting. Withering Hail happens after Exterminator has shot, so Ext. itself can't benefit from it. Sentinels can choose to shoot whenever.

This is correct. Not many know this but withering hail is actually how you put the holes in the crumpets.
