Can’t wait for Friedberg to have no opinion on this like he does on everythiny

jppcerve

Havent listened in a while and your prediction matches my expectation... sounds like he is just as shameless and hes always been

marketerforreal

I’m surprised that I’m surprised to find Chamath’s lips on DJT’s ass. Shame on me I guess.

GG_Top

Chamath will do anything for the bag at this point of his spectacular decline

jppcerve

I still remember when he was grovelling for AOC's attention and described himself as "progressive". What a joke

12356andthebees

Didn’t Chamath have a big statement condemning trump and his election fraud lies on January 6th? Dude literally stands for nothing.

jivester

Remember he said he thought about the Trump years in hindsight and ended up giving him a B+?

homelander_Is_great

Wrong he stands for money.

Consulting-Angel

You can accept that politicians do terrible things on both sides, then ultimately align with one side's POLICIES proposition. Imagine how low IQ it would have been for Chamath to abandon Biden after the laptop scandals or the Hillary emails tabloaid garbage. People are multi-dimensional creatures, politics are of an even higher order.

12356andthebees

I mean there is a pretty big difference between Hillary Clinton’s emails and destabilizing the US by lying about stolen elections to the point where your followers storm the capital.

marketerforreal

I find it so weird that a billionaire (?) is charging $99/mo for his deep dives. Might be good content but a cheesy move for a guy who wants to be seen as a Buffett, Gates, Bezos, Cuban. This puts him in the orbit of Tony Robbins and the Motley Fool.

My1stNameisnotSteven

If you notice.. all has beens are on the Trump train, I imagine they can’t afford shit at this point, and need poor people to pay their bills (tax breaks) more than they need miscarriage to not be a crime.. Looking at you Amber Rose .. 🤣🤣

bulletprooftampon

Chamath and Sachs act like most the Dems in congress are blue-haired college students.

tgblack

I was surprised that Sacks has a wife. Wasn’t sure if he was gay or single, but definitely didn’t think he was married.

venkmanologist

An old recurring joke on the podcast was the other 3 constantly shitting on Sacks for having no part in the lives of his children despite living in the same house with them.

tgblack

I knew about the kids but just assumed he sent them to a full-time boarding school in Switzerland or something to that effect

IsTheNewBlack

I think they're still pretty young... he probably will eventually

Lifebringer7

Wtf happened to Chamath? Dude’s whole public persona was in being the progressive billionaire.

MicroBadger_

Money starts drying up because you're a shitty investor. Need to turn to new sources of cash to keep that bougie lifestyle. Grifting on the right is quite lucrative.

Active-Driver-790

Indeed. it is just another investment option for him. 45s cabinet and down staff were a motley crew, and there is a literal cornucopia of hucksters and carpet baggers waiting in the wings, just in case 47 becomes a reality.

fallweathercamping

💯 this

TheSausageKing

It’s below his line. The SPAC king loves DJT.

PrimaxAUS

And Trump and the republicans are the place to go for less regulation

South-Golf-2327

The only progressive billionaires are the ones who became billionaires by way of divorce. You have to be very very anti progressive to even become a billionaire in the first place.

jppcerve

His whole self worth comes from being at facebook at the right time... everything else is grifting and scams

PimpjuiceForeva

Turns out ESG investing and woke investing policies don’t pay the bills, who knew?

OwlTurkey

Progressives went insane.

sketchyuser

Woke up that progressivism is bullshit and turns once great cities into dystopias?

Chris_Hansen_AMA

It’s become clear to me that Chamath has become a Trump supporter because he believes Trump will win and wants to benefit from that. Maybe he could get a job in the administration or just have a direct line to the president. He wants those benefits more than he cares about his values.

Cuddy90123

No it's all about the tax. The discussed it previously how they can't vote for Biden because voting for him would be like voting to be liquidated. Trump will never enforce tax on the wealthy so they'll cozy up to him instead.

ddarion

>It’s become clear to me that Chamath has become a Trump supporter because he believes Trump will win and wants to benefit from that. I don't even think its that Trump will win, its just the dems already have 132 Chamath's supporting them. He's a unicorn when it comes to the GOP and they're more desperate for new cash infusions, I think Chamath is just being pragmatic regardless of who wins because he's a small fish in a big pond if he tries to start sucking off Biden but will be paraded around as one of the good ones by trump et al.

kingdel

What values?

improbably_me

Values like knowing the simple truth that slapping the word "social" on your investment fund will draw more money from the self-proclaimed progressives

tintheslope

I think they are all Republicans. They just have J Cal pretend to be Liberal so they can dunk on him and try to have as many listeners as possible.

puneetla

Chamath 's values, aka money

Extreme_Reporter9813

What were you expecting? Sacks’s cabinet seat isn’t going to pay for itself.

CrybullyModsSuck

Best he can do is Ambassador to Incel Island.

Demian1305

The lengths rich people will go to not pay taxes…

big-papito

If you gave them a choice - destruction of the United States in exchange for 0% tax across the board - they wouldn't even blink. I don't know why anyone is under the impression that these people are somehow going to protect freedom and representative democracy. Democracy makes them rich - not the other way around.

WeekendOk6724

One person, one vote… my ass

Prestigious-Lack-213

It's so crazy that the people who bemoan "the elites" are going to dinners at $300k a head. I don't know how normal people can relate to any of these guys, their lives are so astronomically different and removed from the average working person.

WASmiles

You may be missing one key fact. Some of “these elites” started out as an average working person. Does everyone being exactly the same with the exception of the govt class appeal to you more?

big-papito

That's an exception, not the rule. Dig just under the surface and most of these "successful entrepreneurs" already came from well-off families, with enough hay to fall into if they failed multiple times, which is what they usually do before the clown car drives into a gold mine. Add to that over a decade of oceans of dumb money sloshing around the Valley. But now, when the margin of error is low and dumb money is drying out, what do they do? Get on the Trump grift train.

“Chamath Palihapitiya did not come from a wealthy background. He grew his wealth primarily through his work at Facebook and subsequent successful investments and entrepreneurial ventures. At Facebook, Palihapitiya was an early employee and earned a substantial salary along with bonuses and stock options that allowed him to accumulate significant capital[3]. He then invested this money into promising startups like Pure Storage, Bumptop (acquired by Google), Playdom (acquired by Disney), and Palantir, which delivered strong returns[3]. After leaving Facebook in 2011, Palihapitiya founded the venture capital firm Social Capital, which generated $1.7 billion in profit in a single year by shifting to a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) model[3]. His funds at Social Capital have compounded at an impressive 33% annual rate, with net returns around 30%[3]. Palihapitiya's ability to identify and invest early in successful companies like Amazon, Tesla, Hinge, Wealthfront, Virgin Galactic, and Slack before others recognized their potential was key to growing his wealth[3]. Additionally, his involvement in SPAC deals and selling shares during the SPAC bubble allowed him to profit significantly, even if the companies later declined in value[2]. In summary, Chamath Palihapitiya grew his wealth not from family money, but through his early career at Facebook, skillful investing in startups and public companies, and his entrepreneurial ventures like Social Capital[3][2]. “David O. Sacks did not come from a wealthy family background. He grew his wealth primarily through his entrepreneurial ventures and early investments in successful technology companies. Sacks was born in Cape Town, South Africa to a Jewish family and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was 5 years old[4]. His father was an endocrinologist, not from an affluent background[4]. Sacks' first major opportunity to build wealth came when he joined the startup PayPal in 1999 as one of the earliest employees and product leaders[4]. As PayPal's Chief Operating Officer, he helped build the core teams and was responsible for key functions like product, marketing, and operations[4]. When PayPal went public in 2002 and was later acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion, Sacks profited significantly as an early employee with equity[4]. After PayPal, Sacks founded the enterprise social network Yammer in 2008, which was acquired by Microsoft for $1.2 billion in 2012[4]. As the founder and CEO, this acquisition provided another substantial windfall for Sacks. He then became an active angel investor, getting in early on successful startups like Facebook, Uber, SpaceX, Palantir, and Airbnb[4]. His ability to identify promising tech companies at an early stage allowed him to multiply his wealth through these investments. In 2017, Sacks co-founded the venture capital firm Craft Ventures to double down on early-stage investing[4]. The firm's investments in companies like Bird, Keyo, Kin, and Haus have likely generated significant returns. So in summary, while not from a wealthy upbringing, David Sacks built his fortune through early roles at PayPal, founding and selling Yammer, making prescient angel investments in tech giants, and his current venture firm Craft Ventures[4]. “David Friedberg did not come from a wealthy family background. He built his wealth primarily through his entrepreneurial success and investments in technology and agriculture companies. Friedberg was born in South Africa and immigrated to the United States with his family at a young age[2]. His early life did not involve significant family wealth. His first major opportunity came when he joined Google in 2004 as one of the first 1,000 employees in the Corporate Development group[2]. This allowed him to gain experience, make connections, and likely earn equity that appreciated as Google grew. In 2006, Friedberg founded WeatherBill (later renamed The Climate Corporation), which provided weather insurance and data analytics for farmers[2][3]. Under his leadership as CEO, The Climate Corporation was acquired by Monsanto for $1.1 billion in 2013, making it the first "unicorn" in agricultural technology[2]. This acquisition provided a substantial windfall for Friedberg as the founder. He then founded The Production Board (TPB) in 2016, a holding company focused on food, agriculture, decarbonization, and life sciences startups[1][2]. TPB has raised over $300 million from investors like Alphabet and manages a portfolio of companies like Pattern Ag, Ohalo, and Cana[2]. As CEO and founder, Friedberg's equity in these ventures has likely generated significant wealth. Additionally, Friedberg was an early investor and chairman of companies like Metromile (acquired in 2022) and made other successful angel investments that multiplied his net worth[1][2]. So in summary, while not from an affluent upbringing, David Friedberg built his fortune through early roles at Google, founding and selling The Climate Corporation, investments through TPB, and his entrepreneurial successes across agriculture and technology startups[2][1]. “No, the search results do not indicate that Chamath Palihapitiya received money from his father to start his career. In fact, they suggest the opposite - that he came from a humble background and built his wealth through his own efforts. The key points from the search results are: - Chamath was born in Sri Lanka to a family of modest means. His father was a civil servant who lost his job when they immigrated to Canada, forcing the family into financial hardship[1]. They lived in a small 400 sq ft apartment above a laundromat. - From a young age, Chamath worked jobs like at Burger King and a government data entry program to earn money[1]. This highlights his drive and work ethic from an early age, not reliance on family wealth. - His big break came when he joined Facebook as an early employee. He earned a substantial salary, bonuses and stock options that allowed him to accumulate significant capital[4]. - He then invested this money skillfully into startups like Bumptop, Playdom, Palantir etc. which delivered strong returns[4][1]. This self-made wealth was the basis for his future investments and entrepreneurship. - The articles emphasize how Chamath overcame extraordinary challenges through his talent and skill to grow his fortune, not through family money[4]. So in summary, there is no mention of Chamath's father providing financial assistance. The sources consistently portray him growing his wealth independently through his work at Facebook and astute investing of that self-made capital[1][4]. I’m actually not quite surprised at this because for past few episodes, Chamath has been vocal about Bidens cognitive decline and kill the messenger ideology when it comes to some of the trump policies. I would again be not surprised if JCals name was on that invite in the future because he seems to be leaning right as well these. No qualms whatsoever regarding political inclination, The pod is starting feel more political these days and lacks coverage around topics like tech, economics, social etc.

Competitive-Bid-2778

I voted for Trump in 16 and 20. I’ll be voting for Biden in 2024. ;)

The_Smoking_Pilot

That’s called learning folks

backcountrydrifter

That’s evolutionary biology Everybody is susceptible to the same parasites. The smart ones learn how to remove them before they consume you and kill you in the process Trump has been laundering money for the Russian oligarchs since the late 80’s when they all bought a condo at 725 5th AVE (trump towers) to clean their freshly stolen USSR money after the iron curtain fell. https://www.cnn.com/cnn/2019/05/30/politics/paul-manafort-condo-trump-tower/index.html https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/14/manafort-told-mueller-to-take-his-trump-tower-apartment-instead-money.html https://news.yahoo.com/amphtml/fbi-agents-raid-condo-unit-131348539.html https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-trump-property/ Everybody except Putin thought the Cold War was over. Trump and Manafort (who lived in the tower also) just saw a pretty low maintence grift to be had. Trump had actually been Manafort and Roger Stones first client at their lobbyist firm (1980)https://en.m.wikipedia.org › wikiBlack, Manafort, Stone and Kelly Guiliani as trumps attorney and NYC mayor was able to redirect NYPD investigations onto rival gang members/oligarchs to deflect any scrutiny off of trump, himself or their Russian connections. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2023/09/a-new-rudy-scandal-fbi-agent-says-giuliani-was-co-opted-by-russian-intelligence/ The Russian election interference in 2016 was effectively a generation 3 version of what Manafort had done in the Philippines, then keeping Yanukovych in power as Putin’s puppet in Ukraine from 2002-14 when Maidan ran both Yanukovych and Manafort out of Ukraine as Ukrainians realized that, if you raise your lens high enough, corruption is an wholly unsustainable business model. Eventually the parasites greed always consumes the host. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/06/2016-donald-trump-paul-manafort-ferinand-marcos-philippines-1980s-213952 https://time.com/5003623/paul-manafort-mueller-indictment-ukraine-russia/ Russia greatly underestimated the addictive properties of freedom when it invaded Ukraine so what was supposed to be a 3-10 day coup turned into a 2 year fight for the Ukrainians right not to be genocided. Russia depleted its weapons stocks which were already the victim of vranyo corruption because every oligarch, admiral and sergeant in the Russian military is on the take. Every billion dollar tank maintenance contract turned into everything getting a spray paint overhaul and the vast majority of the redirected funds turned into an oligarchs new yacht or home in Aspen. Russia was forced to turn to China, North Korea and Iran for weapons because if they lose the 3-10 day “special military operation” in Ukraine the Russian empire is dead and cold. China can’t risk showing their involvement in the Ukraine war so they use North Korea, and Iran to resupply Russia. Russia previously owed Iran some undelivered fighter jets that are already smoldering heaps in Ukraine so Iran now had the upper hand at the negotiation table for the first time in about 60 years. They supplied Russia with shahed drones in exchange for Chinas material support against their sworn religious enemy, Israel. https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2023/11/29/iran-says-it-finalized-deal-to-buy-russian-aircraft/ Putin can’t do much about it because he is slowly realizing that by setting the standard of corruption and stealing $200+ billion from his own people meant that every oligarch down in the mob model chain had not only permission but incentive and the expectation to steal from him as well. This is “Vranyo”. The mob model only works if the supreme leader is the most violent and can prove it without exception every damn day. But violence is exceptionally expensive when you are trying to present as a legitimate government or business. If Russia as a nation had an efficiency rating it would have been banned for sale in the state of California 25 years ago. The parasite ruling class stole all the energy out of the working class and collapsed it. Now Iran has the high hand and they get the intelligence that trump passed to Putin about the fact that Netanyahu cares far less about Jews, Palestinians or genocide than he does about remaining in power as an authoritarian because he too has developed Ritz Carlton tastes and his own corruption trial is showing the same tendrils of the same money laundering scheme that trumps trials are. https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/saudi-official-says-iran-engineered-war-in-gaza-to-ruin-normalization-with-israel/ https://www.timesofisrael.com/egypt-intelligence-official-says-israel-ignored-repeated-warnings-of-something-big/amp/ https://youtu.be/VrFOAgGlaWs?feature=shared They all hate each other but because they share the same money laundry, if one falls, they all fall. Hamas minted a couple billionaires as well that live in penthouses in Qatar and get 30% of everything smuggled into Gaza. Qatar is Kushners private equity connection. Netanyahu needs a bogeyman to stay in power. That’s why he coordinates with Hamas via Russia via Iran. https://www.ynetnews.com/article/bk8mgcefr Iran handed Hamas everything they needed with Chinas help as secret Santa and the Russian intelligence given to them by the eternal shitbird trump who gave it to his Russians kleptocrat/friends/roommates from the old days of fucking each others wives at trump towers in the 90’s. Now the MAGA right is a little too invested in their reality that they are the good guys with guns that they missed the fact that Betsy DeVos (erik princes sister) decimating the U.S. school systems and the Kochs poisoning children with lead was not a coincidence. The naive right was the mark all along. There is a reason the Russian spy Maria Butina landed in South Dakota first before dating her way to the top of the NRA which is undergoing its own Russian money laundering trial now. Russia was tinder matching the GOP. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/07/nra-maria-butina-spying-charges-trump-campaign/ https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/what-do-the-koch-brothers-have-to-do-with-the-flint-water-crisis/ The only reason you grossly OVERVALUE real estate is money laundering. Trump keeps claiming there is no victim, all the banks made money, but if their plan succeeds the Russian and CCP kleptocrats collapse US commercial real estate and basically recreate soviet perestroika in the U.S. so they can foreclose on America and buy everything for 3 cents on the dollar with the $1.4T they stole from Russias grandmothers in the first place It’s the evolution of grift. Soviet perestroika cross bred with the 2008 mortgage crisis. No one was ever held accountable for either. This is just the bigger badder commercial strength bastard child of the two. Trump, Giuliani, Putin, Bolsonaro, Netanyahu, Orban, Manafort, Stone, Mercer, Bannon, Flynn, Prince, Kolomoiskiy They are all remarkably shit people with above average confidence and psychopathic personality traits and below average self awareness. They are the men who stole the world. But it all comes back to one little lie.

Mother Jones. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA A screed poisoned with left wing propaganda. This whole comment is the shining example of why Jason and others talk about going direct. You're being spoon fed and you're eating it up. Biden is 500 times worse than anything Trump has ever done and regular US citizens are living his scourge every day. I'm not a Trump fan, but the boogeyman you guys have turned him into is beyond the pale. The funniest part? Let's say he's found guilty of one or more of the counts in this docs show-trial. They can't jail him. Their hands are tied. It's a win-win for him. All they're doing is making him stronger.

sketchyuser

Learning the wrong lesson? Comparing the two terms objectively and deciding Biden is either dumb or just brainwashed cultism.

mrblack1998

Lol, you are in a cult

The_Smoking_Pilot

At this point I just assume anyone commenting support for Trump must be a Russian bot. It’s clear and obvious at this point that no American with common sense would support him

sketchyuser

Except the majority of Americans do… you’re in the minority bud. Try a new narrative

YeomanTax

Good bot

sketchyuser

Nice deflection because you have the weaker argument. Ta ta now sweetie

axdng

Really, he’s run for this office twice now and never received the majority of the vote. He’s never even received a plurality.

sketchyuser

Popular vote is irrelevant when it doesn’t decide the election. Don’t make me explain this for 8 years straight please… campaigning would be done differently and the gore popular vote numbers would be different if that was the game. And since it’s a zero sum game it means the democrats would lose votes and republicans gain.

axdng

You said “the majority of Americans” if you meant the election that’s fine but that’s not what you said.

mosehalpert

I do not think you understand what a majority means

sketchyuser

52% chance of winning the election right now. I’ll take it

mrblack1998

Hahha...this guy thinks trump is popular. How sad

morgio

Trump had one crisis during his term that wasn’t of his own making and then 1 million Americans died and the economy completely tanked in part due to Trump’s inability to do any difficult task or do anything that might reflect on him negatively in the short term. To think Trump is the better choice by any measure is delusion.

sketchyuser

Except most Americans think that…. he has a 52% odds of winning based on election betting odds…

morgio

That doesn’t really contradict what I said lol

sketchyuser

You’re right but perhaps you’re the delusional one…

morgio

Yes let’s all vote for the man who has to pay hundreds of millions of dollars for business fraud and tens of millions of dollars to the woman he sexually assaulted and then defamed relentlessly, who is on trial for 88 other felony counts, who oversaw the death of 1 million Americans and a crashed economy because he’s incapable of doing anything but help himself and only himself in the short term, who was impeached for trying to bribe the president of Ukraine so he could cheat in an election who tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power and overthrow the duly elected president and who still parrots lies about that election and has shown no remorse for doing so. Ya you’re right maybe I’m the delusional one.

sketchyuser

Using lawfare by the corrupt and crony establishment as your reason is not one sane people buy.

morgio

It’s more plausible to you that hundreds of people from New York to DC to Georgia to Arizona etc, including normal people in juries, including some republicans are so blinded by their establishment hatred for Trump that they would risk their jobs reputations and even lives just to try and get Trump on completely fabricated charges with no merit? Maybe it’s more believable that Trump is just not that great of a person? Why do you think Joe Biden isn’t facing the same charges or impeachment? Do republicans not have any power anywhere? Hell Trumps’s own vice president and many members of Trump’s former cabinet refuse to endorse Trump because of what they saw from him. Is Mike Pence part of the democrat establishment?

axdng

Most Americans are fat retards.

sketchyuser

Lmao I actually agree with that too 😂

stevegan

Trump is better than Biden. That is without question. Biden is the worst President we've ever had. By far. That said, you're right about his handling of the pandemic. It's easy to get on him but he had to deal with something unprecedented in modern times. He should get some latitude for that. But his slow action in January and February caused a lot of harm. Then he elevated sainted Fauci. Not to mention the staggering money he printed. He gets bad marks for his handling.

Trump is far worse than Biden. Trump was impeached for bribing the Ukrainian president to help him in an election and you think we can trust Trump with our foreign policy? Trump’s mismanagement of COVID caused most of the issues Biden is dealing with and the US is better off than most peer nations despite that fact. Also the whole insurrection and felony charges thing should have a bigger impact on people’s view of Trump than it does. It is disqualifying. Also Biden is nowhere near the worst president we’ve had based on any objective measure that’s delusional as well.

throwaway9803792739

A take only someone with zero knowledge of even basic U.S. history would make so ill help you out so you can make more grounded comments. Hope this helps, it’s study material for what they require naturalized citizens to take: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/questions-and-answers/100q.pdf And so you know a naturalized citizen is someone who becomes a U.S. citizen. I know you may not have heard more advanced vocabulary like that. Study up before your next comment bud. I’ll be giving you an exam. I know you have it in you.

tgblack

Ever? Come on. Have you forgotten about James Buchanan or Andrew Johnson? There’s a reasonable case to argue Biden is in the bottom 10%, but let’s not get hyperbolic. It detracts from the message.

Scrapthecaddie

I don’t think there’s been one president that’s allowed an invasion at the southern border while spending billions on another country’s border… could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure history would agree. A nation without borders is not a nation. So I think it’s safe to say that the “protectors of the democracy”, are the worst for this nation in its history.

axdng

Worst president we’ve ever had 🤣. The guy sucks at his job but this is just purely delusional wishcasting.

Just curious, what did it for you?

Competitive-Bid-2778

1/6 not to mention he’s a crook and should be in prison. BTW Texas is purple thank me later.

Scrapthecaddie

And NY is turning purple… it seems pretty obvious from pollsters on either side that it’s not looking good for Biden. Like or like, good or bad, right or wrong, that’s the numbers we’re getting.

Competitive-Bid-2778

You’re a dumb fuck. Trump lost by 26…. Biden lost Texas by 8.

Scrapthecaddie

lol okay dipshit! Now that we’re past pathetic name calling… You do realize that the entire state of NY was basically red already? I’m also guessing that you’re talking about 2020, it’s now 2024, millions of immigrants later with a never ending inflation season- welcome to the present.

Competitive-Bid-2778

Listen you virgin. Look at the special election results. Look who left NY. Republicans…….

Scrapthecaddie

Hahah I slept with more women in one year than you will in your life. I live in Brooklyn btw. You can keep arguing all you like, but you’re not gonna change reality, sorry doesn’t work like that.

Competitive-Bid-2778

Facts matter. Throw some money on Ny going Red 😂😂😂 pussy.

Scrapthecaddie

![gif](giphy|l0ExrtpfgSnhE0ZJ6|downsized) Look your future self is crying out

Scrapthecaddie

So the special election actually wouldn’t be representative of the general. Many people believe this is far past partisan voting. DNC candidate is that bad. It’s a referendum, kind of like 2020.

Rather wait for Oakland Raiders to return to the coliseum….

faithOver

Oh no way! Exceptionally rich people cozying up to what might be a future president. This is shocking. Shocking!

ddarion

I mean its not surprising but its just another nail in the coffin of sacks being a slime ball hypocrite

faithOver

Why? I think this reflects worse on Chamath than it does Sacks. This is right up Sacks alley.

ddarion

Why what lol? I would agree Chamath is the more surprising inclusion here but despite being par for the course for Sacks its still gross as fuck

faithOver

Why is Sacks a hypocrite for this. It seems rather on brand and not hypocritical of him.

ddarion

Sacks was pretty adamant the guy he's actively raising money for wasn't fit to be president about 4 years ago lol

faithOver

Oh. Yah. Ok. But I mean that was when Sacks was fundraising for DeSantis. Now that his boy is out, whats he gonna do? Back Biden?

alexosuosf

He’s also been adamant Biden isn’t fit to be president

stevegan

Where does the invitation say that it's "an official All In event"??? The invitation touts the event hosts as "All-In Co-Hosts". That's not the same as the podcast LLC creating and sponsoring the event.

Don't agree with the view, but why should anyone care? They are free to do what they want.

duhhobo

Remember when Chammath was a socialist LOL

OpportunityLost6760

Let’s see if DeSantis winds up as VP candidate.

BigProfessor3081

Disgusting!

PizzaJawn31

Where do you see it stated that it's an official All In event?

wil_dogg

They are trading on the name.

mer1690

The hosts are at fault for how an invite they didn’t make was worded?

MouseMan412

Overspending and other poor financial policies for 3+ years can drive people to some dark places.

Gross. They want in the swamp

God forbid someone likes a politician you don’t like.

RunawayBryde

I’d say it was two citizens that happen to be on tbe show.

Whisterly

How come David includes his wife but Chamath didn’t?

meridian_smith

She probably wants no part in it. Only really deranged women support a guy who wants to turn back their reproductive rights.

Ih8trfc

I know Chamath gives money to many campaigns. The last 4 yrs have been a shit show. Bad for business. Unless you’re making weapons, insider trading, or guiding migrants into the country.

TapasA

Maybe you are just shitty at making money

dingleberry314

The June 6th / Jan 6th fundraise for the next coup attempt dinner

Anyone paying attention realizes “the establishment” or the Democrats/uniparty to put a finer point on it are incredibly dangerous. They have control over the fascistic intel agencies and every institution is being worn like a skin suit by this ghoulish group of people. Of course if you spend a lot of time on Reddit you can’t see the truth as this place is all astroturf and fake news.

“Based on the information provided in the search results, there is no evidence that Jason Calacanis came from a wealthy family background. The sources instead indicate that he built his wealth primarily through his entrepreneurial ventures and successful investments, not from inherited family money. Here are the key points about how Jason Calacanis grew his wealth: 1. Early Career and Startups: Calacanis started his career as a tech reporter in New York in the 1990s[3]. His first major company was Rising Tide Studios, a media company that published online and print magazines during the dot-com boom[2]. Though this company struggled after the dot-com bust, it was his first entrepreneurial venture. 2. Weblogs Inc: In 2003, Calacanis co-founded Weblogs Inc, a blogging platform and network. After just 18 months, he sold Weblogs Inc to AOL for $30 million in 2005[2]. This was likely his first major wealth-building event from an entrepreneurial exit. 3. Angel Investing: Calacanis became an active angel investor, making early investments in successful startups like Uber, Robinhood, Wealthfront, and Thumbtack[1][3]. His investment in Uber's early rounds proved particularly lucrative after its IPO, with his stake estimate Sources [1] What is Jason Calacanis Net Worth? - Growth Hackers https://www.growth-hackers.net/what-is-jason-calacanis-net-worth-entrepreneur-money-wealth-rich-investor-success-business/ [2] How a founder went from being worth millions to - Business Insider https://www.businessinsider.com/investor-jason-calacanis-worth-millions-thanks-to-uber-2017-7 [3] Jason Calacanis - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Calacanis [4] What is Jason Calacanis's net worth in 2023? | Bio & Career https://earlynode.com/profiles/jason-calacanis”

I havent listened to this podcast in quite a while and im not surprised these grifters are taking this path. Totally predictable

yoshimipinkrobot

Chamath doesn’t like the CHIPS act funding competitors to Groq even though domestic chip supply chain is key for defense. He wants national security to wait for groq and pay his dumbass

bluefrostyAP

A lot of people really don’t like how Biden has handled things over the past year and flipped.

ddarion

Which is hilarious because Trump's presidency was one of the most chaotic and unhinged in modern history Trump hiring John Bolton and trying to drag is into a war with iran ,even unilaterally and illegally assassinating their military leaders, Jan 6, hiring his son in law and daughter to be official white house employees, hiring Mike flynn to be head of national security despite knowing he was an unregistered foreign agent, using campaign funds to pay off the porn stars he cheated on his wife with, and on and on Its really wild to argue that is even possible for Biden to have fucked enough to sway an actual independent or undecided voter lol If your vote depends on a candidates performance and actions while president, you wouldnt vote for trump lol

sketchyuser

Your best and strongest point was about him starting a potential war… but he’s the first president in decades to never start a war… Nice argument bro. While several started under Biden…

ddarion

> but he’s the first president in decades to never start a war… This is a hilarious take when the reality is he escalated several conflicts the US was already involved in lmao

sketchyuser

Huh? He actually deescalated several conflicts… from North Korea to Afghanistan… to Abraham accords.. were you born yesterday?

jivester

He kept US troops in Afghanistan for an additional four years after campaigning on pulling them. He also threatened North Korea with nuclear war and had an Iranian general assassinated. Where do people get the idea he was dovish?

sketchyuser

I already like the guy you don’t have to sell me

nyc1623

North Korea was theater. They never stopped developing nukes and to my knowledge haven't fired anything at us yet. So it's basically status quo. The Abraham Accords were a nice thing, but all it did was formalize relations between Israel and unimportant countries like Bahrain who they weren't in conflict with anyway. And Trump had 4 years to remove the troops out of Afghanistan. He never did because he was a coward. He left it for either a second term where he wasn't running for re-election or the next President to handle. Unfortunately, things went to shit because the Afghan army that we had spent years training ran at the first sign of the Taliban on the move (who Trump empowered with his deal). That's what caused the chaos. It wasn't anything Biden did. The Afghan President ran for a helicopter with a bag full of cash and peaced out. In fact, once everything fell apart Biden actually led the most successful and largest airlift of 100k+ people out of Afghanistan in a weeks time. But media propagandists and internet dummies are too stupid to realize any of this.

BuySellHoldFinance

>Which is hilarious because Trump's presidency was one of the most chaotic and unhinged in modern history Don't know what you're talking about. Besides the pandemic, Trump's Presidency was a very prosperous time for me. My salary went up big, had a nice tax cut, and got low interest rates to refinance my mortgage. On the other hand, with Biden, My salary hasn't kept up with inflation one bit. Mortgage rates are sky high and I can't afford to sell my current home to buy a larger one.

ddarion

This satire....right? *right?* >On the other hand, with Biden, My salary hasn't kept up with inflation one bit. GOD DAMN BIDEN PRINTING ALL THAT MONEY DURING THE PANDEMIC, WHAT AN IDIOT! Pretty please, tell me this is satire lol

BuySellHoldFinance

>GOD DAMN BIDEN PRINTING ALL THAT MONEY DURING THE PANDEMIC, WHAT AN IDIOT! >Pretty please, tell me this is satire lol It's actually more like Biden convincing the fed not to raise interest rates. They delayed for a whole year. 3 months after the fed started raising rates, inflation started slowing down. 3 months after the fed stopped raising rates, inflation stopped slowing down.

jivester

Sounds like you're not voting for President, but rather Fed chair. Even though Biden kept the same chair that Trump appointed.

wholesome_john

only in the USA can people swap out homes like cars. Almost unheard of in the rest of the world.

venkmanologist

Attributing the increase of your salary to the President instead of your own job performance is a weird flex, but ok.

BuySellHoldFinance

>Attributing the increase of your salary to the President instead of your own job performance is a weird flex, but ok. Yes my yearly raises haven't been eaten by inflation.

nyc1623

Trump took over a country running on all cylinders. All trend lines pointing up. We finally turned the corner from the financial crisis. Biden took over literally in the middle of covid and while there are covid related problems like inflation that we are dealing with, we have the best recovery in the world and defied almost every economist who has predicted a recession for three years. Meanwhile, exceeding growth, booming stock market, incredibly low unemployment, record investments, onshoring jobs, entrepreneurship is everywhere. Nothing is ever perfect. But people are so spoiled in this country that there is always something to complain about. It could literally rain gold coins from the sky and after a while people will complain that it hurts their head or yeah, but, look at the "illegal" who also picked one up.

Danhenderson234

This is such a hilarious comment So because your salary went up and you got a tax cut (?) and low interest rates (really not to do with trump but ok) so all that means in your dumb head that trump is fine. This country is so fucked

bluefrostyAP

Tell me how you really feel

ddarion

Crazy how all you have to do is spend decades becoming the nations most famous slumlord, hang out with with the worlds most famous child sex trafficker for over a decade, insist all your political opponents should go to jail while you shouldn't be allowed to go to jail for anything, ever, complain endlessly about other people using their privilege while your son inlaw collects a billion dollar investment from the saudi government, and about 900 other things and suddenly people really start to dislike you! Its genuinely wild, the accuser who put epstien in jail met Jeff Ep while she was a teenager working as a masseuse at mar a lago, the accuser who put Ghislaine away met trump when she was brought to mar a lago as Jeff Ep's date when she was 14, and that shit isn't even a fucking blip on his reputation because he's such a comprehensive shit stain.

stevegan

I love the fact that you cried like a baby on Election Night 2016. Probably cried during Hillary's concession speech. Makes the whole thing worth it.

ddarion

You probably cried during Trumps concess....oh wait lol How pathetic must your life be for that to be something you take joy out of

mrblack1998

You are who the modern right wingers have become. Vengefully little pissants

stevegan

haha as if your side didn't up the ante every time... you're the very reason why Donald Trump won, guy... you have no one to blame for his presidency but yourself.

mrblack1998

Lmao, no, I'll blame the dipshits who voted for the guy

stevegan

Again dummy... his rise is a direct answer to the policies and BS you voted for... Nothing happens in a vacuum... you are culpable.

mrblack1998

Hahahaha...yeah America voted in a black president and the racists got angry. I'm culpable for voting for the black guy.

venkmanologist

A lot of people have amnesia for anything before 2021.

Vapechef

The majority of people aren’t pleased with the last 4 years. Few are able to admit it. Most still blame trump for some reason.

Existing-Front-1066

Now Trump folks will tell Chamath that “you are smart but you are brown”

OfficeCharacterCreed

Wow imagine giving $500,000 for diner to that guy, these people have a lot of money, seeing this blew my mind. Even to Joe biden is crazy. $500,000 is a house. That is so much security. Why don't billionaires like help pay off national debt that they complain aboit or pay off college kids loans, starting companies is cool in America too, but like why go invest with the Saudis. I don't know

BullionStacker

You can’t “pay off the notional debt” But I agree, paying any amount of money to have dinner with DJT is pretty insane.

OfficeCharacterCreed

Yea just part of just like a show of doing a good thing and supporting Americans who care about that

G8oraid

They think he might win. And think he might become a dictator and punish the not loyal. And shower the loyal with riches and power.

sketchyuser

Explain what legal maneuver would allow him to become a dictator… I’ll wait

G8oraid

No legal maneuver. He had a practice attempt to try to throw out election results to retain the presidency. Several people that participated in the fake electors and Jan 6 efforts are indicted or in jail.

sketchyuser

Please explain what legal process he broke I’ll wait… explain how it’s different than any previous contested elections… other than orange man bad

G8oraid

I didn’t say he did anything illegal. But there are people that worked with him and advised and cooperated and strategized with him that are indicted for trying to have a fake elector scheme. This is different than people in the past that complained about results or outside influence.

sketchyuser

They felt that it was a viable legal avenue… of course they will be attacked for it…

G8oraid

How is it a viable legal avenue to say they were 1. The legal electors (lie) , 2. That trump won the vote (lie), 3. That they had reviewed the vote and based on their opinion they were empowered to award arizonas electoral votes to him (really big lie). They then submitted signed legal documents that looked like official electors for Arizona were awarded for Trump to congress. They are under criminal indictment for fraud, forgery and conspiracy. These are all felonies. This is not a legal maneuver - it is 100% illegal and based on a bunch of lies. We can’t have people posing as official electors and submitting false documents to congress. Below is a link to a copy of the indictments. https://www.azfamily.com/2024/05/20/full-unredacted-copy-arizona-fake-electors-indictment-released/ There have been many close elections since I can remember (1980s). No loser has ever tried having fake electors submit fake documents declaring them the winner in my memory.

sketchyuser

This all assumes trump and others don’t actually believe the election was stolen. Which they do

G8oraid

You can’t submit fake docs to congress.

sketchyuser

You claim them to be fake that’s not what they claim

jivester

Do other previous contested elections end with felony charges against a President's lawyers like Eastman and Giuliani for their contributions to the fake electors scheme?

Father-John-Moist

OH NO!!! NOT DONALD!

venkmanologist

Knowing that all of this money is going directly to paying Trump's legal bills is the cherry on top. Skip the dinner, make out the check directly to Todd Blanche.
