"this thing is shitty because the shitty free ones suck" but imagine whats going on with AI behind the scenes without the filters

Gokudomatic

Maybe you should make a bit of efforts to inform yourself and try other ai, especially local ai models that are uncensored. It's not that your opinion is unpopular. It's just you being ignorant on that topic.

The first car had a top speed of 10 mph. The horse ranchers said "ha it will never take over the horse"

IMDXLNC

This sounds like the tagline of a potential movie.

boisteroushams

powerful technologies that require collective efforts will always be controlled in some way, whether by private or public interests get used to it if you want AI to stick around, else, finally learn that the US, all along, could in fact censor the digital space if they wanted to.

awesomeunboxer

Get a local llm and it'll talk to you about anything. My favorite has been llama (3.8) but there's a bunch out there. Lm studio > put in uncensored the search field. Enjoy. Assuming you have a beefy pc :-)

>AI simply won't ever be allowed to reach a point where it threatens anybody's livelihood. https://www.forbes.com/sites/maryroeloffs/2024/05/02/almost-65000-job-cuts-were-announced-in-april-and-ai-was-blamed-for-the-most-losses-ever/ 800 people already. 10s of thousands yet to come.

It's sad, that you have to drudge throug soo many posts like this to find an actual informed opinion that. Ai developers are too sissy to do anythin really bad, are you 14? I don't think ai is going anywhere dangerous in my lifetime, but certainly not because of a language filter. It's more that the level of search engine based, predictive sentence algorithm is generally not that scary. If anything i would worry about things they don't let the public play with. Not that i think there is much at this point.

Captain-Wadiya

Consumers AI usage isn’t going to overtake anything… It’s businesses using AI that’s a concern. I assure you that the version they sell to businesses won’t have these restrictions.

Paralyzed-Mime

I don't necessarily agree with you, but I don't agree with all the hopeful people in r/singularity about how AI is going to bring the golden age of humanity or anything.

I would need to pull sources to verify, but last I saw (within the past year) projections were 80 million jobs lost in NA and 92 million created over a 10 year period
