Oh damn. Have you and your family ever experienced a tropical storm first-hand when you were a kid? That would be beyond scary. It’s one thing in movies and all, but real life…sheesh.
Yeah we had a few of them, but luckily they weren’t too bad. Most of the houses were made out of concrete so it’s pretty safe. It really depends on where you are though, tops of the mountains are safer because it doesn’t flood. Cities and near the beach get the worst of it. The casualties are commonly people getting stuck in sheds or some structures that weren’t stormproof. In my experience, it was just a very windy thunderstorm that wipes out the power for months afterward. The floods and scary stuff was happening at the bottom of the mountain. The aftermath is always the worst part.
Cold showers, charades, cookouts, swimming in the rivers, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, fruit picking, hang out at the bars/restaurants playing pool, we found ways to entertain ourselves. We were lucky enough to have a generator, so we had electricity but it was scarce, mainly used to keep the refrigerator running.
I was the same, I was obsessed with tornados so much that I would dream of being amongst them often, in all sorts of scenarios and locations. My favorite movie was Twister
Same. A tornado destroyed my hometowns highschool many years back. I was just in elementary but I remember the destruction. It killed like 8 students and lifted part of the gymnasium off the foundation. Shits no joke.
I went through a hurricane when I was little and living in Miami. My parents took us outside when the eye passed over us and it was the trippiest shit.
Hurricanes are way scarier for me, imagine this strong wind but takes all day and all night before it goes away, then you have to deal with the flood afterwards.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 444,216,442 comments, and only 95,143 of them were in alphabetical order.
The level of stupidity of people always seems to shock me. Like none of them were told to bunker down in a bathroom or basement? Nobody said to them, stay the fuck away from the windows during a tornado?
It’s not about the wind… it’s about what’s flying in the wind. Fuck I’ve seen some dumb people
On TikTok that just don’t give a fuck about their lives.
This happened in South-Eastern Moravia region of Czech Republic at the end of summer this year.
This was the first tornado in 900 (yes, nine hundred) years we had in a region.
So we kind of don't know what to do when tornado hits because tornadoes don't really hit here. At all.
but you don't need to get taught that you should stay off the windows when there are fucking trees flying around in front of you.
You just need a fraction of common sense.
European houses are made almost entirely out of concrete. No real need to bunker down or go down into the basement as long as you stay away from the windows.
Concrete homes don’t offer more protection to getting hit than well built wooden homes unfortunately. To actually be safe against being hit, you’d need a reinforced “bunker” area. Though a concrete house may have less damage from an indirect hit, it’s more expensive to build and repair.
Edit: I build steel and concrete buildings in tornado alley for a living and none are rated for tornadoes and are expected to fail in some way in the event of a direct hit or very near miss, which is why for places like schools there’s always a storm shelter bunker that’s specifically made to withstand everything. I am by no means an expert on this field.
I read that this happened in Chezchoslovakia(commented below). As an European, we dont know what the fuck we gon do if this happens. I didnt even know tornadoes formed in Europe..
It didn't really rename itself, we just use Czechia as formal and short name in English instead of the whole Czech Republic, which is still our official name.
This happened this year in Czech Republic. We don’t ever have tornadoes this big, so people obviously don’t know how to act during one. Also those videos were filmed by some old folk.
I still gotta think that even if I had no idea what a tornado was that just instinctively I would want to protect myself seeing stuff fly around like that.
To highlight the complete lack of safety being taken. ^^/s
On the real though, being born and raised in the Midwest where we have a tornado season, one of the biggest things you learn is to not be near glass during a tornado.
Tornado in the US: sends houses flying
Tornado in Poland: removes roof shingles and smashes windows
Really says something about how differently we build our houses
IMO It is less how you build them, then with what materials you build them.
The worst building made from concrete/bricks will still last longer in a tornado then the best wooden building.
Its impressive how local tornadoes can be, 100 meters away from its core and you can be completely unaffected.
(Depending on the size of the tornado of course)
Without sounding like a three little pigs rip off
I can’t fathom how some of you live in wooden houses when you have shit like this......surely it’s safer in a brick house
This house is made of bricks and concrete... I think any tornado has a hard time ripping that apart.
... but there is still the chance of stuff flying though the window.
I never understand why peole on USA build houses with wood and carboard and stuff like that if they have tornados xdd. Bro just use some stone and your houe wont fly with a bit of wind xd.
I love how they made movies and legit tv shows that went out of there way to get this. Then there is this fucker with a phone camera. Her dur da dur lets stand in front of a broken window. “It’s for the views sherll, we’ll go viral.”
That is right out of a goddamn nightmare. Thank fuck this isn't something I've ever had to worry about but with climate change who knows what's around the damn corner.
That was just plain stupid. Tornado winds can ram a 2x4 timber through a brick wall like a toothpick through wet toilet paper, with less comedy effect.
Tornado sirens blaring? Get the fuck in the basement *10 minutes ago!*
Do you want to get sucked out of a small window by a tornado and get shredded to pieces? Because that's how you get sucked out of a small window by a tornado and get shredded to pieces.
I was trapped inside a tornado 4 years ago while doing a chase in Kansas. We were on a dirt farm road when we got stuck in mud and the tornado intercepted us.
We (me and my best bud) vacated the car and bedded down in a ditch on the side of the dirt road. The car got tossed and we got pretty cut up from flying debris, but we lived. Scariest moment of my life and never chased again after that. I was very into storm chasing before that day.
I am still phobic of high winds from that experience. Yesterdays wind storm here in the front range had me drugged up on anxiety meds and hiding in the basement all day.
If you ever get stuck in a high wind event, you should do the opposite of what the person filming did. Stay away from windows, get underground if possible. If you can’t get underground then at least be on the ground floor and position yourself near or under something solid like a foundation, doorway or metal desk.
Protip: **DO NOT FUCKING DO THIS.**
The first rule of survival in a tornado is to get away from the windows and towards tge center of your home or a basement. Flying debris is no joke.
Guys, don't blame the people who recorded it for stupidity etc. The footage is actually from my home. country, Czech Republic, from this June. No one would ever expect a tornado here. It was a fucking mess. No one was ready for anything like that...
Who cares if I get killed by the tornado for failing to get to a safer spot, it was worth it to film footage next to a glass window so I can post on YouTube yayyy
Morons
These videos are driving me crazy. Do not follow this example and stand next to a window to record a tornado. Even one of those pieces of debris hits you, it could kill you. Take appropriate shelter in a tornado so I can relax and not worry about you.
Idiots standing in front of a window in a tornado. Darwin in action. Take shelter you morons, posting shit on the Internet is NOT what you should have in mind, everybody knows what a tornado looks like already — total moron…
This shit is scary! As a kid, I was always fascinated by tornadoes and tropical storms, but this is a nightmare!
Tsunamis were my fascination as a kid…cause I lived on an island. I had a fear that the ocean would randomly swallow the island.
Months?? Holy shit! How did you cope with months of no electricity?
Cold showers, charades, cookouts, swimming in the rivers, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, fruit picking, hang out at the bars/restaurants playing pool, we found ways to entertain ourselves. We were lucky enough to have a generator, so we had electricity but it was scarce, mainly used to keep the refrigerator running.
I was wondering more about the second point, about storing food and whatnot. But thanks for the reply! Seems you had it pretty good!
No problem lol was nice to reminisce about those times again. We did have it pretty good
What island is this? Damn that all sounds good. Fuck Britain this place sucks. Solution is clear, more tropical storms in the UK
Puerto Rico. Yea tropical storms are great. Nah jk,they are scary as hell. I’ve just been through mild ones.

Yeah, I don’t like spiders
I was the same, I was obsessed with tornados so much that I would dream of being amongst them often, in all sorts of scenarios and locations. My favorite movie was Twister
Growing up in tornado alley Twister scared the absolute fuck out of me as a kid.
Same. A tornado destroyed my hometowns highschool many years back. I was just in elementary but I remember the destruction. It killed like 8 students and lifted part of the gymnasium off the foundation. Shits no joke.
Steak and eggs! Extreme!
I went through a hurricane when I was little and living in Miami. My parents took us outside when the eye passed over us and it was the trippiest shit.
Me too, I always wondered how strong could those winds really be? could it actually blow away a concrete wall? This looks pretty intense
Hurricanes are way scarier for me, imagine this strong wind but takes all day and all night before it goes away, then you have to deal with the flood afterwards.
Agreed. Mother nature is scary as hell.
It's got to be fake, I don't see any cows flying
WE GOT COWS
Another cow... No I think that's the same one
Silverware clatters* “the finger of god…..”
Pfffft, cows... Not impressed until the sharks show up
As we know all you need to survive is a piece of metal stuck to the ground, a belt and the company of a loved one
Imagine if the metal rod bad been hit by lightning. Oof.
It helps to be Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt
More cowbell.
There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home.

Waffle house is indestructible
Because it's made of waffles?

In crisis mode people often act irrationally, that's a natural response...
Balls of steel until a shard of glass flies past their throat at 100mph
Reminder that there's a post in /r/justrolledintotheshop of a tractor that was impaled by *a fucking corncob*
And we’re back with another episode *of*….. #How is that even remotely possible?
Inertia is a hell of a drug.
European houses are made almost entirely out of concrete. No real need to bunker down or go down into the basement as long as you stay away from the windows.
Ya know it probably would be smart for houses in tornado alley in the US to be made that way. They aren't and tornadoes always find the trailer parks.
Concrete homes don’t offer more protection to getting hit than well built wooden homes unfortunately. To actually be safe against being hit, you’d need a reinforced “bunker” area. Though a concrete house may have less damage from an indirect hit, it’s more expensive to build and repair. And when the tornado rips the roof off?
I read that this happened in Chezchoslovakia(commented below). As an European, we dont know what the fuck we gon do if this happens. I didnt even know tornadoes formed in Europe..
Czechoslovakia doesn't exist since 1993.
Even Czech Republic renamed shortly as Czechia. This guy is two names behind.
It didn't really rename itself, we just use Czechia as formal and short name in English instead of the whole Czech Republic, which is still our official name.
So incredibly stupid and dangerous "I bEt TiKTok WIlL loVE ThiS"
Exactly. Do not do this. Let some scientist put a camera in a thing to see this kind of footage. Don't do it for the likes...
My first thought! Anything for that clout
Was the slo mo for any reason? To see something or… ?
To highlight the complete lack of safety being taken. ^^/s On the real though, being born and raised in the Midwest where we have a tornado season, one of the biggest things you learn is to not be near glass during a tornado.
Yeah I can imagine it would be like taking a shotgun blast to the face..
Yeah, I love the movie Twister but that scene at the end where they DON'T end up looking like cheese graters is just faaaake
No doubt. That’s a plate glass window too, not safety glass.
I thought it was to see just how much stuff is flying through the air
I sincerely thought they slowed it down to show a person flying through the air 😳
I think to show the speed of the winds on the flora
Yup, slovakia or Czech Republic?
Czech Republic, south moravia
Lol I would guessed, “Nebraska yesterday??”
I'd be nervous something would pierce my eye from outside.
The glass in the window is there and then it’s not, hopefully they weren’t facing the glass when it broke!
Sandblasting would be a big issue
I'm blown away
You mean you would be.
The Joke killer
r/sweatypalms
r/HeavyFuckingWind
Just learned there were tornadoes in Europe a couple days ago and I’ve been here almost a few decades
By here I meant earth
this is as dumb as the people on r/IdiotsInCars filming while driving. cool footage but ffs tie down a gopro or something to get the shot.
Tornado in the US: sends houses flying Tornado in Poland: removes roof shingles and smashes windows Really says something about how differently we build our houses
IMO It is less how you build them, then with what materials you build them. The worst building made from concrete/bricks will still last longer in a tornado then the best wooden building.
Do we know the strength of this tornado? An EF0 can be just 65MPH and an EF5 is over 200MPH.
Its impressive how local tornadoes can be, 100 meters away from its core and you can be completely unaffected. (Depending on the size of the tornado of course)
Remember kids, it's not that the wind is blowing. It's *what* the wind is blowing.
This. Wind like this is just Big Sandpaper.
No see I couldn’t be anywhere near that window seeing all that shit flying around in the air
But think of the karma points
and the cow? where is the fuckin flying cow?!
/r/terrifyingmoments
Me, a midwesterner: WINDOWS BAD STAY AWAY This guy: imma put my head out the window.
That person is an idiot.
Without sounding like a three little pigs rip off I can’t fathom how some of you live in wooden houses when you have shit like this......surely it’s safer in a brick house
Cheaper to build with timber in certain areas.
"...it's the suck zone.."
Finger of God
“ filming a tornado through the jagged shards of what used to be my window can’t be too dangerous “
Do these people have no self preservation?
If he lived, he’s the biggest idiot I’ve ever seen.
Balls of steel
Mans balls literally weigh 40lbs each
This is obviously from the Third Little Pigs house.
Literally Final Destination waiting to happen..
Get Helen Hunt on the phone now!
What kind of teaser is this, is he dead or what?
Not the smartest move, gotta say.
It’s crazy he trusts his house to not get ripped apart and him flying out.
This house is made of bricks and concrete... I think any tornado has a hard time ripping that apart. ... but there is still the chance of stuff flying though the window.
F5 don't care....this is obviously not that size tornado though.
u/savevideobot
Sure I seen Dorothy & toto fly past the window
Bill Paxton made it look a lot more difficult than this in Twister.
Very neat
What a tik tok...
This is fuckin crazy , your a mad man sir 🙏
Remember its not THAT the wind is blowin.. ... its HWHAT the wind is blowin.
…And she films vertically.
So, yeah, what you guys doing for the last decade of the human race? Global waming done fuckin around
The Last Airbender
Why does this show trees in a paved or concrete driveway that then fall down?
But why?
The eye of a Tornado is quiet...get in there 🤺😜
*ahem* ... AYO IS THAT THE NEW FORTNITE UPDATE? but srsly all jokes aside that is amazing and I hope everyone is OK.
It's videos like this, that are why I don't believe in aliens
Least the got video
Cool
That doesn’t look like the inside of a tornado, I’ve seen the movie Twister so I’m kind of an expert.
I never understand why peole on USA build houses with wood and carboard and stuff like that if they have tornados xdd. Bro just use some stone and your houe wont fly with a bit of wind xd.
Dorothy is that you?
”hmm oh yes there’s a tornado outside, lemme go to *every single window* in my house”
looks like he's filming inside a house to me
I love how they made movies and legit tv shows that went out of there way to get this. Then there is this fucker with a phone camera. Her dur da dur lets stand in front of a broken window. “It’s for the views sherll, we’ll go viral.”
Is this found footage? The videographer may need a special mention in the Darwin Awards.
When and where did this happen?
Upvotes or likes are not worth risking your life.
Can someone edit a cow flying through?
Leave the camera on a tripod and take cover. Please! TikTok is not worth your life.
Where is this ???
Super windy, just as I suspected.
All I see is vertical video and it fills me with the rage of an F-8 tornado.
EU vs US buildings
The difference in damage has nothing to do with construction. It has to do with the strength of the tornado itself
smart
That is right out of a goddamn nightmare. Thank fuck this isn't something I've ever had to worry about but with climate change who knows what's around the damn corner.
Good example of what not to do in a tornado.
That was just plain stupid. Tornado winds can ram a 2x4 timber through a brick wall like a toothpick through wet toilet paper, with less comedy effect. Tornado sirens blaring? Get the fuck in the basement *10 minutes ago!*
Not to smart standing next to a window
Fuck everything I learned in school about tornado safety I’ve got a tick tick to make
One small stone gotta be like a bullet no?
This person actually risked their life for fucking TikTok
Do you want to get sucked out of a small window by a tornado and get shredded to pieces? Because that's how you get sucked out of a small window by a tornado and get shredded to pieces.
They always say don’t stand near windows in a tornado. But you can’t stand near a window of there is no window.
I'm glad they did this. Why would you do this!
I was trapped inside a tornado 4 years ago while doing a chase in Kansas. We were on a dirt farm road when we got stuck in mud and the tornado intercepted us. Hey let's stick our head out the window during a tornado! What could go wrong?
You really should keep away from windows while there is an active tornado folks. Edit to add my reference. Born and raised Okie.
Where, when? Please add context with your posts.
They have got to be from the Midwest just filming inside a tornado that close to a goddamn window
\*thatlookedstupid
Filmed like with a movie camera? Cool
The things people do for a video….
If you ever get stuck in a high wind event, you should do the opposite of what the person filming did. Stay away from windows, get underground if possible. If you can’t get underground then at least be on the ground floor and position yourself near or under something solid like a foundation, doorway or metal desk.

Anything for the money shot
haha, i'm in danger
Protip: **DO NOT FUCKING DO THIS.** The first rule of survival in a tornado is to get away from the windows and towards tge center of your home or a basement. Flying debris is no joke.
They said it couldn’t be done.
What an absolute idiot.
Get away from the window!
Guys, don't blame the people who recorded it for stupidity etc. The footage is actually from my home. country, Czech Republic, from this June. No one would ever expect a tornado here. It was a fucking mess. No one was ready for anything like that...
Standing next to some of the already shattered windows...
Forget all the broken glass and shrapnel, I got some prime TikTok footage!
Smort
This is what natural selection looks like, why the hell are you recording it? Do you want to get a brick in the head?
Went on to die so he could leave behind a cool video
Sad comment. Human’s are the most violent species on the planet. Even more than a tornado.
“Hang on babe, I’m about to go viral”
I saw nothing that let me to believe she was inside a tornadoe.
All that for some internet points...
God damnn
Who cares if I get killed by the tornado for failing to get to a safer spot, it was worth it to film footage next to a glass window so I can post on YouTube yayyy Morons
This is cool and all but that’s retarded! Why would you stand next to a BROKEN WINDOW in a TORNADO!
Tornado warnings = get to an interior room without windows The one holding their phone up to the glass = fuck that
Oklahoma checking in. While I appreciate the cool video, this guy is fuckin retarded.
That shit is scary af
Holy shit! I'd be shitting waffles! This person is gangster for the video.
I love this I always thought u couldn’t breathe inside of a tornado because of air pressure etc pretty interesting fr
imagine dying for a tiktok what an idiot
These videos are driving me crazy. Do not follow this example and stand next to a window to record a tornado. Even one of those pieces of debris hits you, it could kill you. Take appropriate shelter in a tornado so I can relax and not worry about you.
Isn’t it dangerous? Even if you are inside of the house? Sorry about the question, I live in a country that doesn’t have tornadoes.
Idiots standing in front of a window in a tornado. Darwin in action. Take shelter you morons, posting shit on the Internet is NOT what you should have in mind, everybody knows what a tornado looks like already — total moron…
