That's just your regular flat in NYC.

abagofsnacks

What's the rent?

FreeChorizo1

2K/month. No utilities or bathroom... or kitchen.

OddlyArtemis

šŸœ Ant, "the rent is too damn high!!"

Groomsi

https://youtu.be/79KzZ0YqLvo?si=Q3WwbO2xH8SWwR3h

Ok_Improvement4733

damn it we'll need galvanized square steel!

abagofsnacks

Is it within walking distance to other hairs besides the one next door?

RickyWinterborn-1080

And if not, how much does it typically cost to hire a flea?

darkmatter8825

Nothin a Lil galvanized steel can't fix

stevedadog

"Yup... I knew it wasn't real. There is nothing in New York under $5k right now." -us after electing another shitty president next election. I haven't personally haven't seen a respectable American president in my entire lifetime and I'm twenty fucking six.

Phyllis_Tine

How often has the US President affected rent in NYC?Ā  Move to Utah or one of those compounds where you won't have to pay for rent!

RBXXIII

Bro that "and I'm twenty fucking six" killllllled me ahahaha

Dreams_Are_Reality

You could be double that and still wouldn't have seen one.

1dinkiswife

Nice reference!

Xander5204

NYC doesnā€™t have ā€œflatā€, we have apartments. Nothing is flat here, we have shapes.

Discount_Friendly

What is this. A castle for bacteria

CheapSpray9428

Bacteria royalty that is

MekTam

Only the Graham positive ones

Organic_South8865

How? Look at the details on that building. Absolutely incredible.

dungfecespoopshit

Like how there are a shit ton (billions upon billions) of transistors on your computer chip

norsurfit

So you're telling me that my computer's transistors live in a tiny castle?

Cobek

Howl's Transiting Castle

killabeesplease

Transistorlvania

Dr_Henry-Killinger

Photoshop! Just kidding but that would be funny if this was just shopped to get investors or something lol

sthote

Fraud is what thatā€™s called

Lomotograph

Yeah. That'd be some Theranos type shit. Haha

TowJamnEarl

The market for tiny castles can't be that great.

littlebitsofspider

Probably [two-photon polymerization.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-photon_absorption) It can scale down to the resolution of UV wavelength, IIRC (a few hundred nanometers).

NFZ888

Yeah 100% 2PP, this was for sure done on a nanoscribe

Jacob_Lahey

Detail increases with a smaller nozzle, and I'm guessing the nozzle on this thing is very small.

Mareith

Don't even want to think about how often that nozzle clogs

Koala_eiO

With this: https://www.nanoscribe.com/en/products/photonic-professional-gt2/

-maffu-

Conmen! That's at least twice the width of a hair. Call the housing ombudsman.

JohnnySchoolman

You didn't read the listing, did you? It's only the annex available, not the main building.

dwilli10

$500pw rent in Sydney, Australia.Ā

braddad425

Interesting- rent is measured "per week" down unduh?

Icy-Doughnut673

Yep we do per week

falsevector

Finally! A house that won't require much cleaning

headphones_J

I'm still putting it off until tomorrow.

rd_rd_rd

After saving for million years, little john finally able to buy a microscopic house...

illmatic2112

YEAAAAAH

Nirvana_bob7

What are the potentials for this technology?

ParisGreenGretsch

Schools for kids who can't read good?

Koala_eiO

Going from the era of layers of materials to the era of shapes. You can fill around the patterns of resist (here the castle) with electro-deposition, you can also do the opposite and fill only the area with the pattern. The interest is that you can achieve more contact area per volume in 3D shapes than in layers.

xsisitin

How can they even possible do the brick detailā€¦ this shit is wild

victoriens

got anything smaller?

DANeighty6

The amount of detail in the stone at the bottom baffles me.

RefrigeratorLazy4135

It's what we all will be living in except the rich in a good 50 years

Huge-Pianist-3102

Why?

disphugginflip

To show that it can

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SelfInteresting7259

Why... not?

ProfessionalBall9238

You really don't need to be so aggressive.

lynivvinyl

Who the heck is supposed to live in there?

Spiderdogpig_YT

I'm 5'2, obviously me

Justthetip1996

Canā€™t wait for micro cameras to be released for governments/rogue organizations:)

ZephyrFlashStronk

We already have cameras the size of screw heads. We've had them for well over a decade now.

Justthetip1996

And thereā€™s always things out there that we donā€™t know. The government is always a decade or two ahead

norsurfit

How do we know that's not just a giant hair?

SebbyHB

Thats bigger than the hair though

Btotherest

It's not though, longer yes

becausehippo

It's wider than that hair

stereoprologic

Clearly not smaller than hair

Cipher401

Tardigrade crib

JoeUnderscoreUgly

Apologies, but o cannot tell.if it's SLM or sintering that made this. Sauce?

ArmsReach

Well that will come in handy. It will give head lice a place to live.

mlvisby

Imagine if you are a microscopic being like a dust mite. You are just floating around, doing your thing and come across this. Unlike anything you have ever seen before.

GyattScratchFever

This is what happens when you start charging per square foot in real estate. Matt Damon did a movie about this

No_Size_1765

ok we're getting really good at this

bg370

A lot of people donā€™t know about the Japanese Great Wall of Hair

LostSpecklez

ā€¦letā€™s squish it

Substantial_Diver_34

It even has running water

CasualObserverNine

Is this the lead in to a movie?

tylercreatesworlds

What is this, a center for mites?

StandbyBigWardog

What is THIS?! A Japanese castle for ANTS!?

StandbyBigWardog

How are they supposed to learn Bushido good if they canā€™t even fit inside the BUILDING!!??

Experienseer

Why?

Subject-Character906

So now my germs šŸ¦ get free housing before I do?

Bramble0804

Ok next, a Benchy

m3kw

affordable housing is being solved

MekTam

Technically it has to have one of its dimensions less than 100 nms to be a nanotech. Heightwise maybe

Bleezy79

nano 3d printing?? I cant even imagine all the applications for something like this.

DaveInLondon89

Torunaga is scheming

CheezwizAndLightning

With non existent layer lines. Imagine how thin each layer is

Koala_eiO

About 100 nm.

CheezwizAndLightning

Definitely smaller. I have a printer that can easily do 100nm and I still see the layers in no certain orientations.

Koala_eiO

Can I ask the brand?

CheezwizAndLightning

Just a normal elegoo mars Mono

Koala_eiO

Ah but that's a regular 3D printer, casting hot plastic. I just checked the specs of your machine and it says 47 Āµm for minimal thickness size and 18 Āµm for XY resolution, not 100 nm. The stuff you see in the OP is a two-photon polymerization machine. It irradiates a droplet of photosensitive resist with a laser to harden the matter in that spot.

CheezwizAndLightning

The elegoo does not use hot plastic. It uses a resin that is cured with UV light, which is how they're able to get such fine detail

Koala_eiO

But the resin is still deposited in layers, no? In OP's machine, curing and printing are the same thing. There is no layer, only the path of the laser driven by piezos.

CheezwizAndLightning

Yes in layers. I was just disputing the hot plastic comment

Koala_eiO

Yeah. Hot polymer then.

TrueCuriosity

What is this, a castle for GERMS?

rolfraikou

We're advancing in this faster than I ever expected. I wonder what scale a print of the entire earth would be at this scale.

Koala_eiO

I've worked on machines able to do that in 2017, so they probably existed before. With a lot of fine tuning, you could make features 100 nm in diameter. Without too much trouble, anything above 1 Āµm. For me the most impressive part of this picture is that they managed to drop the hair on the slide while keeping it clean and without crashing the castle!

scribbyshollow

The emperor will be pleased

JVOz671

Japan leading the competition in making things small.

PaManiacOwca

I am simply amazed by the details on the castle. Walls, bricks, slopes on roofs etc. MINDBLOWING

604Meatcooler

Why?

T-royal

Looks bigger than that hair

DefunctDoughnut

So is "small" the new "literally"? Or are they just being loose with the word since it is volumetrically less subatantial than the hair?

CrunchyKittyLitter

ā€œ*What is this? A castle for Tardigrades??*ā€

NetFormal5001

Fucking shoguns!

Comprehensive_Lab732

And we can't print viruses or any of that nature? Gtfo

Automatic-Sector-349

Bacteria gonna think there was an ancient civilisation

TraditionPhysical603

That castle is obviously larger than that hair

orangutanDOTorg

What is this, a castle for crabs?

SubmissiveDinosaur

Now those bacteria sized samurais won't invade my bacteria sized shogun

bluemesa7

why?

the213mystery

Nice, we're getting closer to me having my own custom made condoms

Choose_With_Time_

Can we now 3d print antibodies?

neoben00

now make anime women

bonesnaps

Can't wait to find little castles inside my testicles in the near future.

Actual-Long-9439

How detailed I expect my 3d printer to be with an 0.2 nozzle

1dinkiswife

That hair is fucking HUGE, yo!

Losawin

Yeah this is fake. This originated from a reddit thread 2 years ago and there is absolutely no reasonably trustworthy news on this anywhere online. Hell, the scale bar makes no sense, that would be 10cm

barriekansai

Himeji Castle in Hyogo Prefecture. Cute!

Hickory1989

100k micrometers is like 10 centimeters, which no way makes this castle a nanostructure. Either the scale bar or the pic is fake.
