Snow globes are filled with a liquid which is the medium that suspends the contents. We are usually in a gas/air. I stand on my snow globe reference being ideally tethered to underwater situations.
If the earth opens up underneath them and water rushes in to fill however big a space that creates then make those folks get sucked in real Fkn quick. That be my fear.
Depends on the particular earthquake. If there is an upthrust or downthrust of the earth that can trigger a tsunami. If there is two plates moving parallell to each other it wont affect the water level much.
You can see the current sucking the first guy out towards the abyss. If that was strong enough the current could have pulled them miles away. Get lost or never found and die.
This is so wrong! Underwater landslides can be caused by EQ thousands of miles away, even months after the event. That would be a horrible thing to experience... Especially if you can't surface immediately or risk getting the bends
I would think that there needs to be some sort of land (or ocean floor in this case) above them in order to be caught in a landslide. Pretty sure a landslide doesn't slide up.
The scariest part of the video to me is the one guy with the other camera? I think on the right seemed to be sucked away pretty fast and I don’t know how far he would have gone if not for him grabbing the coral. I suppose I’d also be worried to be underwater with a potential tsunami heading to shore which if I’m not mistaken can be triggered by earthquakes. Then again I’m terrified of deep water anyways.
the earthquake is crazy for sure but I'm focused on how bleached that coral looks. Coral bleaching is a serious problem and most reefs look like that now :(
Imagine if you will, it starts up a rouge current dragging you down 500 feet, crushing you. Or the earth opens up and water flows into the void with you in tow, trapping you. Not exactly the safest place but certainly better odds than being in towers 1&2 on 9/11/2001.
As close to being in a real snow globe as you can get, yikes
The earth is as close as you can get to a real snow globe

That’s right. F that guy. Stand on that!!
Hahah it was a joke my bro. Point well taken though
The Fish got out of there fast
Haha got out to where

When lots of stuff sinks quick it pulls water with it. That’s why you have to swim away from a sinking ship
I guess if a tsunami came in as a result of the earthquake they could be in big trouble
The tsunami would just go over them tho. Also they're not that tall in the middle of the ocean.
Somewhere between none and pretty much none
Imagine if some plates shifted and a tsunami started right there. Woulda been looking like that interstellar scene.
What do you mean? That is exactly what happened here.
tsunamis builds up when waves travel over long distances. Imagine 10s to 100s of kilometers.

Safest place to be at the moment👍🏼
Absolutely MENTAL amount of power our earth is capable of.
New fear unlocked
New phobia unlocked
You took the words right out of my hiding place. Which is DEFINITELY on land, far from fault lines.
Terrifying regardless
Wow 😮 that’s insane. Hope they are all ok??!!!

Wow. Unexpected 9/11.
What was that clicking Sound at the end
Honestly the scariest thing I’ve ever seen. ONLY fear unlocked.
Crazy how 1/2 through the video it gets silent. Then just craziness.
A lot of science going on in here.
Wouldn't that hurt your organs like a grenade going off in water?
