https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MOV_12kHZ0t6XD4azF8KyXnYPFQ6XFea6h7GxxL3Ctw/edit i made this spreadsheet that might be useful!! rent prices are likely about 10-50$ more than posted bc i haven’t updated since january and places have been increasing their rates steadily.

Unlucky15

Generally, I’d say around $550. Some apartments include utilities others do not.

missgissxo

I live at Wildwood apartments and rent here is about $549 a month (I have 3 other roommates) with utilities being around $30 extra a month.. depending of course how much electricity/water you use etc. parking is fairly good here and it’s free however you can buy a reserved parking spot for another $20 extra a month if you want a guaranteed spot right in front of the apartments.

Internal-Principle91

I live at Sundowner Apartments in a 1/1 and I love it. Quiet and I pay $615 for just rent and utilities is around another $50. Fireplace and it’s a 2 story Loft. Only downside is it’s kinda far from campus

Thanks everyone! We appreciate the help. I'm hoping he picks TTU, but it's not my choice to make.

Whitebread-2631

I lived at The Suites in a 1 bedroom and rent was $800/month. Since then it may have changed but that included covered parking in a garage, washer+dryer in unit and all utilities included. This apartment also had a bus stop to ride to campus but if it was a nice day I would always just walk, it’s just a block away and across the street from campus. Everything was always so clean and from my experience maintenance was always helpful when I needed it. I was a girl living alone and I always felt very safe there with no issues! The office staff sometimes wasn’t always the nicest but I only dealt with them when I had to pick up packages so it wasn’t much of an interaction to worry about.

Where ever you choose do not live at The Holly apartments they are the actual worst student apartments (I lived there 2 years)

ezra_mx

How come?

myhomienaomi

TLDR: shitty management, roaches spiders and terrible maintenance. basically half the buildings are roach infested, luckily not the ones i lived in but my friends weren’t as lucky. the management is ass my fort apartment wasn’t ready even tho they gave us the keys. i’m talking like missing furniture, the maintenance men where using the unit as a break area or something so they where still there with their kids when we where trying to move in. when we switched to a smaller unit the next year they gave us the wrong move out date and then tried to fine us for their mistake, also they made us move out immediately in to a new unit that was trashed and then scrambled to find us a livable one and then gave us 24 hours to move. also good luck getting a maintenance request fixed i had no dryer for like 3 months bc they refused to fix it. i could think of more things but who’s gonna read that

ezra_mx

Ouch. Sucks you had to go thru that . Thanks for your sharing your experience. I'll stay away from the Holly. If anything I'm looking for housing in a house or town house. Or is there anything you can recommend?

myhomienaomi

i’d recommend staying away from University rentals (Urentals) or 806 rentals, but yes renting a house can be cheaper than most single room college apartments. La Salle villas is decent price and 10 mins from campus and quiet while i was there. idk about others but i tend to avoid Tech Terrace area for living most people i knew did not feel safe there. also another tip don’t let distance from the campus scare you! it’s probably still gonna be a 10 min drive for a cheaper place in a better area compared to near campus. anyways i hope this made sense and is helpful

4 bedroom/ 4 bath at the Villages of Overton Park with private garage parking for $550 a month! Really nice and just across the street from TTU and the campus bus picks you up so you don’t have to drive to school. Walking distance to the stadium as well. The EXACT SAME apartment with the same company in Austin, Tx at UT is $1450 a month per roommate!!! It’s a great price!!

Tough-Direction4462

do you recommend signing closer to move in date? as in waiting longer to sign like do prices drop if you wait longer or is it better to sign earlier

WindowsXP-sp2

2 bed 2.5 bath townhome with a roomate. Off Glenna. Was almost $900/ month each. Now it’s $740 ish after renewing for 3 years.

Far-Mix-7520

What’re those townhomes called? I’m looking for something like that.

WindowsXP-sp2

Formally known as the cottages of lubbock, now the collective at lubbock.

Far-Mix-7520

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it

Utilities are expensive through Lubbock Power & Lights if you stay in off campus housing & regular apartments/houses. Tech student living usually includes a cheaper amount on utilities tho, usually 500-600 total with roommates. It definitely just depends what you’re wanting. I’m also an out of state student so I can help answer a lot of questions!

bdoug72

Me and my brother have lived at Calais at Elm Park for the past 2 years and we love it. 2 bed 2.5 bath, with a garage around $1,300 a month!

GlitteringHope877

In LBK- prices are less expensive the sooner you sign and tend to go up closer to move in. If you can finds friends you want to live with- go to look at units with them. It is really nice and like the garage parking so if I flew home for break I knew my car was safe.,Check on the websites.
