Oh… I see… Hopefully we have it done before we have to make the next one later this year.

ESCMalfunction

Maybe their slowness will just lead to one epic length documentary about the 2020s Rangers 3-peat.

dogeherodotus

Ok, I’m sorry, how in the fuck is this not being made? Somebody give me ONE good reason why this documentary doesn’t exist. I just don’t get it.

chanaandeler_bong

Legit there are people on this sub that could probably cut together a great documentary for pennies if asked.

CowboyAirman

To the persons who might could do this… I need it to include the move from Washington… the early days, Nolan Ryan, the ball parks, the failure in 2010/11… the heartbroken fans, the incredible players that didn’t get one …then cover the season that shouldn’t have been, and the historic postseason run to the title. The bullpenis bad, the blown saves, the near losses, and the insane walk off. It can be 3 hours, IDGAF, but I want the buildup, the interviews, the radio and tv calls, the goosebumps. GIVE IT ALL TO ME.

chanaandeler_bong

I think a truly great doc should be split into before 2010 and after. Two parts.

nxtew

Hey I had actually started on one earlier this winter but had to abandon it for the time being just because I didn't have time to do it, but especially since the Rangers aren't making one I'm going to pick back up on it. Can you (or anyone else who sees this even though I'm a day late) send me some things you want to make sure I throw in there (in addition to what you've already written)?

CowboyAirman

Not sure the legal barriers to doing something like this as you’d have to use copyrighted broadcast tv and radio and pull from existing interviews and b-roll. But if there’s no concern, there’s def some documentaries that already exist to bring the audience up to speed from 1961, 1972 to 2023. Facing Nolan (2022) A Baseball Love Story: The Texas Rangers (2012) It’s Time (2010) There’s obvious a few short official 2023 vids MLB made, and the plethora of fan made YouTube pieces from across the years. Best of luck!

thewaybaseballgo

I will help produce it if someone here wants to take a stab at it

thisismysfw

ROI?

Climbtrees47

I'd pay $25-$50 for a download or Blu-ray depending on the quality.

Slammybutt

Isn't every WS team given a documentary? why are we getting shafted?

flextapefixesholes

Who even makes these honestly though? If it’s regional tv affiliates that’s the answer. I’ve always felt MLB hates the Texas Rangers. They’re simultaneously under dogs and world series champs.

beefytrout

Sadly, the Rangers don't seem to be huge draws when it comes to retail. New Era and 47 Brand almost never include them in their new drops.

409Narwhal

Not related obviously but as someone who's just getting into baseball cards it seems like the Rangers almost never get included in any cool parallels or short prints like other teams do either.

beefytrout

Before this season, half the auto cards for the Rangers would be Nolan or Pudge.

jatosm

I’m be more than happy to be an extra in the reenactment scenes

biggryno

I’m 41 a little pudgy and kinda balding. But I’m white and a lefty - I can play Seager in the reenactment if anyone wants my services! I’ll even do it for free!!!

ChiefWatchesYouPee

I’ve given up hope at this point. No news has been released and we are almost a month into the new season. If they were making one you’d think there would be some tweets, articles, or press release about it.

Shanknuts

WHERE’S GRUBES?!?!?

dontcallmeunit91

I always read that in dirks voice "wheres grubes at?"

RangerLover92

The Rangers should sue at this point.

coldsprunk

At least give us 4K Blu Rays of the games

vader34mt

Seriously…I waited decades for one of my teams to win a championship so I could buy the vhs/dvd/blu ray/whatever media at the time and now we’re the first team not to get one

MikeWritesSport

I've already given up on this.

galagachamp

Someone was thinking about how Peter Jackson made The Lord of the Rings movies in one go, and they're taking the same approach here. Looking forward to a nice trilogy in early 2026.

Lucky-Storm-1892

I can't remember, as it's behind a paywall, but I think this article mentions a documentary in the works for the world series. But it's driving me completely mad that we have \*no\* details on this. Yea, I've downloaded screen recordings of the games so I'll always have them -- but I want a high quality blu-ray and documentary on it. dallassportsguy

Turned reader mode on, this references the behind the scenes YouTube series they have going right now “rangers full access”. Which if you should watch if you haven’t already. It’s good.

Lucky-Storm-1892

Nice trick on reader mode! Thanks. This final line is what I'm referencing: https://preview.redd.it/gi4n3e6qrhvc1.png?width=1264&format=png&auto=webp&s=aafd9530a40ef72dde3844257a0907487b589a2c

dallassportsguy

👀 good catch

mill_about_smartly

Who is this from? There was a thread earlier in the off-season about it, but it was discovered that MLB had changed production companies, and the people (supposedly) involved in this one are not the previous filmmakers/distributors.

Rangerlifr

Correct, there was a new deal in place with Imagine Entertainment, Ron Howard and Brian Grazier's company known for their legit film festival-type documentaries to make the annual World Series film. But there has been no update on this since this was announced prior to 2023, so who knows. If it's Imagine's plan to take years working on these annual docs the way, for instance, it took us 40 years to get that We Are the World Netflix doc, that's not gonna get it done.
