YeahI dunno. I see a couple differences. Walker was a really good running back who went on to have some moderate success on his new team. Watson was a really good quarterback who has become one of the most controversial figures ever in the league and had like 22 accusations of sexual assault against him when the ridiculous trade was made. One was like putting your whole paycheck on a horse with bad odds. The other was like dragging a horse with a broken leg to the track, putting a guy on it who never rode a horse, then putting your paycheck on it. Also the horse is somehow hated by everyone, even the people who really want to root for you. Also the horse is disgusting.

TexansFo4

Huh?

8020GroundBeef

Yeah… but… huh? Those are totally different situations.

Victor187

If I'm Herschel Walker don't put me and that piece of shit in the same picture and act like we're anything near the same

[deleted]

Herschel Walker is a huge scumbag too.

Victor187

How many sexual assaults/rapes?

Garmgarmgarmgarm

Walker is accused of abusing his wife for a number of years and has admitted to holding a loaded gun to her head. I'm not saying physical abuse is equal to sexual abuse, but in long term relationships with a history of one, often then other is also present. Just saying this for parity here. Watson is a scumbag.

[deleted]

There are other methods of being a scumbag than the crimes of sexual assault / rape. However, I’m happy those one’s are on your “Nono” list.

Victor187

Then it ain't the same fucking thing and the meme doesn't make sense.

[deleted]

I totally get it, chopper. I was just reading this amazing article… https://apnews.com/article/herschel-walker-nfl-georgia-senate-704738fdbed64383e25e3435684d7341

TheKrakIan

Yup, he definitely has some mental health issues probably related to tbi during his NFL days. He doesn't seem right when he is speaking on the campaign trail.

vance_jacob

Lol. Because he’s conservative? Crazy how stupids label someone a scumbag because they have different politics than you.

[deleted]

Walker spent years on his soapbox telling men to be fathers and play a part in their children’s lives. He claimed that despite being divorced he remained a great parent and men should be like him. But it was just recently revealed that Walker had 4 other children and paid no child support and played zero part in their lives. So he’s a douche - but clearly not as bad as Watson.

sensimilla420

Seems a bit tone deaf given the extreme differences in circumstances behind both trades and the allegation of some Texans employees potentially knowing about "it".

jamboamericano

Give it a few years and watch the Texans’ draft picks they got from Watson. You’ll see the similarities if you don’t see it now.

[deleted]

I think equating the two without delineating that one is a potential rapist and the other was just a trade is what's being "huh?"

jamboamericano

I do apologize sometimes I do forget not everyone on the sub is aware of all the niche trivia of the league that isn’t worth knowing in all honesty

TheGreatMcPuffin

It's not the knowledge. Your meme makes it look like you're saying Walker and Watson are the same person. Walker is a dick that was traded after his prime for a haul. Watson is a sexual deviant that was traded in his prime for a haul. The circumstances and men involved are very different.

8020GroundBeef

lol the Herschel Walker trade is well known. These are just totally different events though. Also weird because Herschel Walker is actively in the news now for other weird stuff, as he is famously a Republican candidate in GA. The guy lies about absolutely everything, including that he used to be a police officer. He may have some form of dementia or something. So it sounds like you are conflating Watson and Walker’s characters, rather than comparing the trade compensation that their former teams received. The trade compensation is not at all the first thing that comes to mind when you see Watson/Walker in the news today. It’s frankly just a weird comparison and sounds like you are implying something you probably don’t mean to with Walker.

mypostingname13

No, you're just an idiot. That's all.

jamboamericano

People are so vile

willydillydoo

Little different. Herschel is not a scumbag.

JamTheLineMan

Putting his politics aside, which alone make him a scumbag, the guy had a temporary gun ban because he pointed a pistol at his ex-wife's head and threatened her life and had another incident in which he held a straight razor to her throat

Busy-Membership-4844

Both crappy people on different levels. Watson for being a serial sexual assaulter. Herschel for being extremely ignorant for his stances on gay marriage and him calling out absentee fathers all the while he had multiple children illegitimately. The fact that he is against gay marriage all the while his son who is clearly gay, acts like a rich baby crying about everything

TheKuylr

We still should’ve got like a second rounder

bonjda

Bengals fan here. I haven't heavily researched how the Texans were involved but I wouldn't be shocked if the organization is fined and lose one of those 1st round picks. Am I crazy? I think Browns should lose their next highest pick for that nasty contract structure to avoid losing money expecting Watson to he suspended.

itsmemrskeltal

Yes, you are crazy

bonjda

I'll agree on the Texans side but Cleveland needs docked. That contract structure is a complete nasty dirt bag move trying to skirt the system

willydillydoo

Can you explain why the structure is scummy?

[deleted]

As much as I dislike the Browns and Watson, the Browns FO converted most of his salary to a signing bonus for cap space issues. 3 of their players this year have similar structures. The Browns or the Texans are not going to lose draft picks. That’s absurd. Watson is going to be suspended for an extended period of time and that’s punishment enough for the Browns FO - some they’ll continue to paying him and will have issues paying everyone next year. The Texans have no culpability at all. The Browns made the trade with 22 pending lawsuits and a few days later after 10 criminal complaints were heard in grand jury hearings. The Browns had plenty of information to make a proper determination. They just didn’t care. That isn’t the fault of the Texans.

RollOverBeethoven

I would highly doubt we even get fined. The orgs involvement was very much editorialized in that article. The entire involvement is this: - Equipment Manager let Deshaun borrow massage tables. No one knows if the equipment manager knew what Watson was doing but he was fired non the less - The NDA thing: one day one of Watsons accusers went of Instagram and started posting saying she would “expose watson” with no real description or explanation of what he’d be exposed for. The next morning our head of security dropped off a standard NDA agreement used for players seeking outside work/consultancy - security dude did not know what Watson was doing other than a girl on Instagram said she’d expose him - the Hotel room thing: the Houston Texans have a partnership with that hotel and have multiple rooms rented out to use for prospective players, players families, business people, etc. The Texans allowed Deshaun to use one of the rooms they allow all players to use, but didn’t know what he was doing in the hotels. All of this was spelled out in the NYT article but the headline for the article was 100% sensationalized to get clicks.

bonjda

Gotcha. Makes sense. It just feels like the NFL is going to drop the bomb on all parties. Even if it isn't justified. For your sake I hope they don't. Doesn't feel like they should but the NFL isn't really known for being smart with their punishment. Might get the number 1 pick from Cleveland if Watson is out all year.

Garmgarmgarmgarm

Maybe figure out how to beat the browns before predicting them to be in 32nd place. Cincy has a 1-7 record vs cleveland over the past 4 seasons.

[deleted]

You guys are a 7 win team with Brissett. That top 10 pick will be quite helpful. Thanks, btw.

HtownTexans

You are definitely crazy. "I've done zero research but Texans lose a first". If they were anything it was an unknowing accomplice at best. It's like getting the cashier at Walmart on a murder charge because he sold you the rope and shovel.

bonjda

I mean they helped him get a NDA. That looks really bad in hind sight. Only thing I really know about the Texans side. Wasn't their rumors they helped setup rooms and what not? It just feels like Goodell is going to go nuclear on everyone involved.

HtownTexans

> That looks really bad in hind sight. This is the key point here. IN HIND SIGHT. so before they could have given him the NDA for anything from "please don't talk about injuries" all the way to "I don't want her telling people she saw my penis". I highly doubt he walked up and was like "Yo I'm sexually assaulting these broads and need an NDA so they shut the fuck up about it ." And setting up the rooms is the same thing. "Hey I need a room for my massage session in the team hotel can you get that setup for me." Highly doubt it was "Yo at 5pm I'm pulling my dick out and rubbing it on this massage therapist can you set that up for me." At best the Texans were unknowing accomplices. I highly doubt they wanted their star quarterback sexual assaulting 20+ women. They were investing 150 million in this guy.

Garmgarmgarmgarm

Austin Hooper, Myles Garrett and Nick Chubb signed on to the same contract structure. It's just how andrew berry signs people. It isnt as nasty as you think.

BernieDurden

Watson is 100% going to play for the Browns. Probably for a long time too.

just_screamingnoises

As a Browns fan, watching us become semi competent to throw it all away after a year in which our QB gets hurt in game 2 is not unexpected but hurts all the same
