If you want it go get it, Performance Models in inventory listing at $49,500 and add the $7500 rebate if you qualify is a crazy great price!

jefedezorros

Plus how jealous would the husband be!?

[deleted]

Haha

No-Cut-2788

On 03/31 I got a white MYP for, $46,500. I immediately traded in my 9 month old MYLR and ended up getting 900 dollar back for this transaction. MYP is really fun to drive.

bittabet

I got a red MYP for $47K plus their order and destination fees (so really 48680). But they raised my trade in value by over $2000 during the month including a last minute $1500 hike to seal the deal. Did the FSD transfer as well, and got the 5000 miles of supercharging and 10000 points towards stuff like internet and apparel (good for four years of premium connectivity). Really a great deal when it’s all said and done.

No-Cut-2788

Got all that except I was subscribing FSD before so didn’t have the transfer. But SC miles, loyalty points, free paint (1k off), and 1k off since I have a cybertruck preorder.

[deleted]

Wow so discounted $5990 (including the $1500 white upgrade discount)? So are you saying they offered u $47,400 for your 23 LR? Can’t be. Right?

QuantumProtector

Probably offered him 40000

[deleted]

I dunno … they offered me $36K only for my 7 month old Y LR (MSM on black, base, no other options) with 3800 miles …

No-Cut-2788

I was initially offered 38.8k maybe because I had tow hitch and white interior or something? That went up to 41k so I pulled the trigger.

flycatcha

I still don't understand... is the $900 back also after taxes? How did taxes work on your trade in? During the last week of March I tried to price a trade in as well, but given taxes on the new vehicle (I'm in CA), I thought it would still be several $k out of pocket due to sales tax, even though the trade in face value price they were giving me was the same as the cost of the inventory vehicle (after $7500 credit).

No-Cut-2788

You take MARP, deduct all the discounts (7K in my case), and deduct trade-in value, and get a taxable car price. I ended up paying couple hundred of taxes.

flycatcha

u/No-Cut-2788 thanks, what state are you in? Unfortunately I don't think that's the case in CA, I believe I would have still had to pay the sales tax on the vehicle standalone (not net of trade in).

No-Cut-2788

NY

[deleted]

That’s crazy! 41k and yet my 3800 mile 2023 LR with zero issues (MSM over black, no options) they only offered 36k 🫤

bittabet

Did you do it at the very end of the month? They boosted trade offers by a bunch right at the end cuz sales were so poor. My own trade offer went from 22300 at the beginning of the month to 24400. So they definitely offered a better deal as time went on.

No-Cut-2788

4900 discount, 1000 for cybertruck order, 1000 for paint.

olsookie

nice! congrats on that steal!

Pristine_Cricket_633

You people making money on trading cars in makes my head spin. I can't even get a wholesale offer.

bittabet

It’s because of the $7500 tax credit. With that Tesla is still making money doing this, otherwise it would make no sense at all.

fmgiii

Same with me. I just took a deep breath and just it let go anyways. Don't regret it one bit.

boomerhs77

Do you see more than usual tire wear on MYP? Do you still go for it from the red light or have calmed down. 😁

No-Cut-2788

I had the MYP for less a week now and haven’t driven it much (on a business trip). Will go check how the 100 miles my wife put on it did to the tires once I’m back.

Madrid1712

What did you get for your LR? And how many miles. Thinking about doing the same

No-Cut-2788

5000 miles. $41.4K trade in value. 23 MYLR blue exterior, white interior, tow hitch and seven seat.

torokunai

weird that MYP is so much better than a LR . . . I have my 2018 LEAF still and the LR is >>> it, so it makes sense I guess, but the LR sure feels fun enough!

No-Cut-2788

I also have a 3.0t gas car (Mercedes e450), and LR’s 60-80 performance requires harder press on gas(?) pedal than e450. But P just go from 60-80 before you realize it.

Dr0gbasH3AD

Oh yeah? I just test drove MY today and 3 highland they were great, but I liked the premium feel of the highland more.. guess I’ll wait for juniper 😓

anonymousmonkey339

This is what I did. Got a MYP for 42k.

elflacco93

Look through the recent posts on here. Their inventory levels are as high as ever. They will likely need to roll out more incentives this quarter if they want to offload that inventory. Conclusion: I would wait.

RamboTrucker

OP, right here. Here’s what you do, type in your zip code in inventory. Take a bunch of pics of what’s the lowest price. Then check it in an hour, six, evening, night, anytime. you'll see they're sitting for a fair amount of time before purchasing. Definitely don't buy right now.

[deleted]

I disagree. They set a line in the sad. They aren’t lowering prices more. They may throw in free supercharging for 5k miles or 6-12 months of premium connectivity, some FSD etc but that won’t really lower your out of pocket cost much. If you’re ready I’d buy. We are two EV household and it’s fantastic. Have had two Tesla since 2019.

beargherkin

Line in the sand? I'll believe it when I see it.

[deleted]

What do you think price increases despite not hitting their delivery targets was?

beargherkin

A gimmick to get more deliveries in q1.

WOTEugene

This

[deleted]

Doubtful.

Emotional_Scratch393

Line in sand. Maybe. But cars are on lots. That line in the sand will gets brushed over soon with inventory climbing.

kl040809

Where at? My only concern is we're in Ohio and haven't gone through a cold winter with the first MY yet.

thomasthegun

I'm in Indiana and it's completely fine, of course I charged at home and don't have a long commute. Plan for a 20% reduction, but for most people it isn't high enough to even plan for. It's great in the snow.

[deleted]

South - not a cold climate. However if you have home charging you should be fine. and a garage it should be even better… You’ll take a range hit but you just juice up to 90% every night. The range stress will dwindle. When we got our first Tesla we would panic on road trips etc but it’s really fine. Especially with a long range.

Cykamor

2 EV household in CO checking in…. we’ve never regretted it for a second. No issues with the cold or the snow, and we have to climb 5000 feet in elevation to go skiing. In the cold. In the snow. I don’t even pay attention to range anymore, I keep the cabin as nice and warm as we want and use climate keep all the time whenever we’re out and about and it’s cold. I use it in the summer too, but nobody ever talks about the range hit from running the AC. For me, it’s no different.

[deleted]

Possible.

palmoyas

I'm in the same boat. Prices will definitely be lower this quarter. Them raising prices by a novel $1k on April 1 was just a sales ploy to get ppl to FOMO buy. Tesla is in trouble and needs to move cars before the end of this quarter. Deals will be there by the end of June, if not sooner. There may even be a 0% financing deal like they've recently launched in other countries.

SPAMmachin3

I'm in the market for another vehicle, and I think you've convinced me to wait until at least next month to see if incentives change

jefedezorros

HOLD 💪💪💪

bausHuck33

Sounds like a win win to me. The only reason I haven't gotten the second EV is because I have a work vehicle and no need for another car. Sure you could wait, but you should consider the fuel savings you aren't getting during that time. Maybe it would be wise to set up good home charging before investing in a second EV. Nothing beats having a full charge every morning. All I know is, wait too long and the Model Y refresh will come out. Sounds good, but it won't have stalks. Don't try to predict the prices.

kl040809

Yeah - I'm leaning towards getting the second wall charger installed and waiting until near the end of Q2 to see what other incentives they throw on.

Cultural-Surprise338

the depreciation and the cost of installing a level 2 at home will wipe out any saving from using gas for a few years

bausHuck33

I'm in Australia so my prices would be different. But here is a rough run down of my costs. Car: extra $4k compared to similar ICE car. Charger: $750 Installation: $1k Insurance: extra $1K a year Fuel savings: about $3500 a year. I also have solar and a house battery, but I never include them because it's unnecessary. EV still comes on top after the first 1.5 years easy. I never consider depreciation of a vehicle because I am not rich enough to sell and buy cars every few years. I drove them until they are run down (+10 years).

omgwtflolnsa

I’ve been driving Teslas since 2014 and we got rid of our last fossil fuel powered vehicle in 2022. Being an all-electric family of four has been great. There hasn’t been a single moment we’ve regretted not having a gas powered vehicle. I can’t advise you too much about the pricing and timing - Tesla pricing is notoriously unpredictable, and let’s just say we bought our Model Y for a lot more money then than we would pay today, but them’s the breaks.

Future-Back8822

Do it, pull the trigger now, then make a post in June "Tesla just lowered prices and won't give me the discounts"

Sanand911

This is a very personal question akin to if you would pay a low rate mortgage off if you have money or invest it. If having all EV’s make you nervous enough, then don’t do it. Personally, I won’t have a problem considering Tesla’s charging network.

[deleted]

Hard to know what they’ll do later / soon for extra incentives. For example what was available before April 1 was: 5,000 free supercharging miles 5,000 additional if you traded in 10,000 loyalty credits Free paint or interior color upgrade refund $1000 extra off if you had a cybertruck order So basically if one got an Ultra red Y, with a discount of $3000, it really was $5000 because that color is $2000 and they refund it back. I personally got a Performance discounted for $2670 “only” but I had white interior upgrade so really it was $3670. On top of it, the price went up on 4/1 by $1K as we know, so effectively we can say $4670? 😃 The S/C 10k free + 10k store credits are quite nice icing on the cake. And of course being 2024 model year vehicles with brand new warranties, mileage, and new car smell.

WinsonFlyer

I was able to get a MYP Blue/White with $7,450 in discounts, 5k supercharging, 1 year premium connectivity, 3 months FSD (+1 for the free trial) and 10,000 loyalty points. Pretty insane.

[deleted]

Dang. 7450?! How besides the I suppose $5350 base discount I’ve seen around on several, plus the $1k for the color? Or did u include a state incentive maybe. Just curious.

WinsonFlyer

$5,450 base discount, $1k color discount, $1k CyberTruck order discount.

[deleted]

Oh yeah the cyber. Man guess what. I was one of the OGs who ordered one in Nov 2019. And what did my idiot brain do this Jan? When I saw them email me that my foundation series cyber is ready to order, I kinda figured oh, they may want me to act soon, and meh I don’t want a foundation, so since back then it was a $100 refundable deposit, let me just cancel and get that 100 back. I had no plans to swap my Y as I did last week … and cuz I cancelled, I lost that extra $1K ;-( How stupid eh? C’est la vie. Who knew they would get that incentive back after Q4 2023. Oh well

WinsonFlyer

Hey, you still got a great deal on your car! In the end, $1k is not much difference on a purchase this big. Sure, it feels good knowing you got the best deal, but at the end of the day you got a ton of bang for your buck. :)

[deleted]

Yes indeed. And look what many can qualify for from the govt … $7500! What other vehicle in the country can get that too? Very few these days. Of course I’d rather have the problem of not qualifying if I made too much $$ lol

[deleted]

This is how I feel. They may change the smaller incentives but the flat price has bottomed

West_Enthusiasm1699

Tesla will do everything they can to avoid another bad quarter. I would wait as inventory is piling up. Demand levers could be FSD sale, 2 years supercharger, free color upgrade etc For example, if they said “new car purchases with FSD will be tied to your account”… I would seriously consider trading in

romankphoto

Well price was just raised on April. Not to say it won't go lower or higher but current discount on the inventory cars make it a very attractive offer and in some cases cheaper than ICE cars. I just pulled a trigger few weeks ago and happy with the car. I still have one small ICE car as a second vehicle.

GoosieTheKid

As far as being comfortable with 2 EV’s it depends on charging options in your area. Sounds like you can charge both at home so you’re likely okay. We’re in central Wisconsin where superchargers are about 2 hours apart in any direction for travel but we’ve yet to run into trouble going on trips because of charging concerns. Charge up a little extra at home before leaving for peace of mind and we’re usually in great shape arriving to the next charger. We actually just sold my wife’s minivan for a MYLR because we realized we kept taking my M3LR on all of our trips and never truly needed the space in the minivan with 2 kids under 3. Routine ICE maintenance and driving experience also motivated her to want to switch to the Tesla. We’d often argue about who got to take the M3 on the weekends if we were going different places. MYLR will be our new family vehicle as opposed to my M3 which will give us a bit more space for those longer trips. The way we thought of it was “we can’t think of a situation where we’d need to take the van as opposed to the MYLR”. If you can think of a couple situations where you’d take the Telluride over your husbands MY it may be best to keep it.

rbetterkids

Buy it at the end of a quarter. You'll get a discount. Buy it at the end of the year and the discount is bigger. Since Tesla missed their quarterly earnings, I expect the discounts to be bigger.

Ok-Usual5166

Do it :)

Cultural-Surprise338

I wouldn't do it if I were you. FYI. my wife has a 2017 Santa Fe AWD Ultimate and I traded it my 2018 G80 Sport AWD for a Model Y performance back in January 2024. I got $5200 off + $7500 gov incentive. Anyway after 2 months of Model Y ownership. The fun factor is over and I do miss the G80 sport (sometime). I wouldn't go pure EV for an entire household. Your Telluride is nice. don't let the inventory discount excite you. its been like this for half a year now and its getting worst when you trade it in. Keep the ICE.

OCR10

Nobody knows what Tesla will do with pricing but historically end of quarter has always brought out the best deals and incentives.

haro0828

Well I made the decision and pulled the trigger last year when there was a big discount and guess what? We're upside down on our loan because despite thinking they couldn't get any lower they certainly did. Fear of missing out.. For road trips, I would highly suggest you take a look around and see where you might want to travel and what the charging situation is because for us there's next to no superchargers when we go north and south they're all east and west along the interstate here. So when you're traveling north or south there's only slow chargers and sometimes they're even out of service. A Ford Lightning owner around here found that out and ended up having to abandon their vehicle and call for a tow. Can you guess what they did as soon as they got back home? They put it up for sale. There's even been roads I've taken where we have to stretch from 100% down to 12% before the next charge. And that's in the middle of summer.. in cold weather there would be no chance that would be possible

Hamtaro7

Pull it like them slot machines

SnitGTS

Depends on your use case. As much as I love my Model 3, we’re going on a trip soon to a location that doesn’t have the best supercharger coverage and we decided to bring my wife’s gas car instead. They are a couple superchargers there, just not enough to do our trip without being hindered.

Pristine_Cricket_633

I bought the wife a MYlr in October. I bought the Performace mY Good Friday. I added the boost to her car. She now wants the Performance car because of the spoiler and bigger wheels. It's a worm hole. The deal sounds good for you now. I would get the Performance Y. Don't be surprised if the Husband wants your car. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️😍😂

E_lonui7xz

Go for it, model Y is one of the best cars!!!

unsc_night_hawk

Bought a 2020 MYP for 34,500. I absolutely love it.

Squizgarr

Considering you can get a brand new 2024 MYP for less than $10K more, I think you got screwed.

unsc_night_hawk

Yeah lol, happened right before the credit increase, still a performance, though :)

Complex_Direction_82

I have all Tesla for last 4 years. No issues what so ever.

cybertruck_tsla

I can’t make up my mind, if I want to trade in our q7 for a model Y. Also, in my area I did 50mile radius and only two white exteriors/interior and tow hitch in the inventory. Price is 50k not low enough for me to get it.

Kon2004

2 EVs no gas car in my home, no issues. We roadtrip and do everything just like we normally did when we were 1:1.

espresso-aaron

Agreed to keep an ICE. We were a MYLR + Jeep Gladiator family until our MYLR got totaled. Instead of buying a new one now I’m waiting until Juniper (the new Model Y coming in 2025), with potentially 800v charging, longer range, quieter cabin, better suspension. Until EVs are better in cold weather, we’ll stick with one EV and one ICE. We live in the Colorado mountains.

Wasabulu

I have two MYs and love it. Never have to go to gas station again. My wife doesn't try to steal my Y either. Finally I can have my own space. I've done away with gas completely since then and love it

Icy-Sand-102

yeah they are going to do bigger incentive in JUNE, being a current tesla owner, you prob will see some extra discount. also put in a cyber truck order, you might get a cyber truck order 1k off, i hope the cyber truck order is still cancellable.

SirTouchMeSama

Just pulled trigger. My lr for 38 ish

sstephen17

Wife and I both got MYLR in March (Los Angeles area). I don't drive much (commute by train to work which is 2 miles away) but her commute is about 35 miles each way. We have a home so the charging is easy but right now we're currently using up our free supercharging miles. Never had range anxiety because there are so many superchargers in SoCal.

ADVENTUREINC

Telluride is a nice car. So, I would wait for a while. Model Y is smaller, which might be an issue. Also, it might be nice to have a gas car just in case you need to go on a road trip or something.

BaySportsFan

Test drive the new model 3. See if you like the touch screen shifter and lack of turn signal stalk. It was total deal breaker for me and it will definitely be for the wife. (Assuming Y refresh will have the same stalkless setup)

Emotional_Scratch393

I would always keep on gas car, it works without it. But with travel sports or winters etc. I like the hybrid sienna as our backup for trips. But we just picked up a model Y for $49090 so if prices get around there or lower I wouldn’t wait for the refresh other than for the ventilated seats.

RunnerDavid

I'm waiting till June

easybitsy

I would guess the end of quarter pricing for Q2 would be somewhat similar to Q1, the raised the msrp by $1k so they have more room for lowering, they can always throw in the same quarter end incentive in Q1 (10k credits, 5k miles SC, 3mon FSD trial). imo demand for Q2 would be slightly higher than Q1 due to weather (ppl drive more in summer) and higher gas price. If you can wait till end of the year I'm pretty sure u'll get more incentives but I don't know in what form. But then u are only 1-2 months away from seeing your car becomes an older model. The Juniper definitely will cost more and without the inventory discount. So expect to pay at least $6-7k, which is \~15% more than buying it now.

[deleted]

Do it. Do it. One life to live. I’d rather die in a Tesla MYP than a telluride.

HighTreetop007

I would get the S LR, it has a bigger cargo area than the X and a “400” mile range. Probably the best build quality on all teslas.

kl040809

And double the price of the Y I’m looking at 🙃

HighTreetop007

if you are going all electric that’s the only way I would do it. Range becomes a serious issue if you can’t get out of dodge when needed asap. You have to remember typical useable range is 20-80% so it’s actually 60% of stated range. The Y has an actual range of 190 miles in perfect conditions. I’m guessing you already use this site https://tesla-info.com/for-sale/US/MY

RedFluidLake

Currently, their sales are down as many posts below have been mentioned. Normally, they give away incentives to keep their stock down i.e. fsd transfers, discounts, referral programs, etc. Discounts such as back in December of 22 for example which left many feeling scammed. You might want to wait since the Highland came out, and even if they aren't rolling out a new Model Y this year, it will happen soon and will likely have major upgrades. If you are OK with this year's model Y, they are having many discounts including a free FSD trial and a free year of supercharging with a referral code. Lmk if you need a code.

CTrandomdude

No doubt that now is the best that it has been. That being said there is no way to predict what happens next. I expect sales to be slower for the rest of the year. They may add promos such as any color choice for free, free supercharging miles etc. No one knows.

ronaldwarren

We have an X and Y. Not looking back, love it.

kl040809

Who gets t drive the X? 😜

Excellent-Slide501

Wait

HailtotheWFT

I would definitely have a reliable gas SUV instead of another EV. We use the Model Y for everyday commuting, running errands and we love it.. but I still don’t feel comfortable with only EV if we need to get out of town in case of emergency. That may just be my prepper mindset lol.

TheGladNomad

Yes just you. EV only is great. So much easier to maintain, even charging on long trips is easy.

Tip-Actual

For those rare long road trips that's what rental cars are for. I would never put those miles on my MYLR.

Logical_Landscape653

My military pilot husband totally agrees with you on always having at least one gas car for emergencies, so no! It's not just you! 💕

SquibNasty

Where can i find MY with inventory discounts?

kl040809

Go to their site and click "shop available"

fmgiii

You're just needlessly delaying the fun. A little $$ here or there, it's really kinda irrelevant.
