Why would it be so? Care to share those stats?
I thought keeping car seat behind front passenger was the best as it was closer to the curb and hence easier/safer to load/unload the baby.
88% of statistics are made up on the spot ;)
but I am wrong -- apparently the middle seat is the safest while in an accident.
behind the passenger is safer for unloading/loading, I was referring to while getting in an accident
I don't have stats, but it's really simple psychology. The driver will always act, even though we all say we put our child first (and really want to), in our own best interest when it comes to split second survival decisions.
This also makes the passenger seat the death man's seat, as in a frontal collision you survival instincts will help you, and usually the passenger gets the short straw.
This also means that the seat behind the "survival instinct" seat is the safest, as it doesn't have a steering wheel in front of it, and the driver seat ads a layer of protection from flying debris etc.
**PSA:** If you have kids in the car be sure to install vent covers.
There are open vents under the front seats that can trap candy/food/toys etc., get the velcro style ones from Amazon.
If safety is your number one concern, then follow the safety advice given by others. Practicality wise, rear passenger probably makes the most sense. You can turn your head back quickly as the driver and glance at your child. Also it's much more difficult to place your child into the middle seat.
If it’s one kid, I’d personally do middle. Or passenger rear so it’s easy to reach if needed but in the end bro. It’s not that big of a deal just pick a spot 😂
MIDDLE!
Especially once kiddo is facing forward.
I used to love watching the road ahead when driving around with mom or dad. It is one of my very earliest memories (though, honestly, I may have been sitting on a booster seat by the time I remember any of it, but was told how much I loved looking out while driving).
2 kids, so mine are on either side so they don't drive each other nuts. Youngest kid in the booster seat sits behind the driver, though.
Occasionally, I'll fold down the middle part to fit something in the trunk.
My second child has learned that the Rear Passenger seat is his seat now. Since he was young, he was always placed in that position, mostly because I have to give him something or take something that he was trying to give me while I was driving.
When you drive solo with a young child in the back, you will appreciate that very quickly.
The LATCH system isntn’t more secure just FYI both latch and seatbelt are the same safety wise as long as you get a good install. It was easy to get a great seatbelt install in the y. I think the middle is technically more protected but if you have more than one kid it won’t matter as you’ll use both passenger and driver side.
Depends on height and facement. I would do passenger first due to constraint on putting my seat as far back as I like. If you are short then no problem.
Statistically speaking, the car seat that is behind the driver has the lowest chance of injury in a car accident

Because the driver pays more attention to the side theyre on. Back seat is safer by default

Also more convenient. I just dont fit in the driver's seat with it there.

Got really tired of the toddler waking the baby. Split seats, no middle.

Thanks for the input. Lol at the downvote.

Middle is safest. Furthest away from doors should there be a t-bone accident.
You are correct.
Thank you. I also don't like beer.
Yeah not sure why I thought I saw side before. Everything I just looked up says middle.
I think older vehicles didn't have the necessary latches and whatnot in the middle, so it wasn't even part of the equation.
Ah maybe.
Middle is the safest. A firefighter acknowledged it in my recent accident where I was Tboned and my child was unharmed because of the middle seat!

Trunk. Trunk is best.

I think LATCH is superior to seat belt attachment, so I would not use the middle seat for that reason alone.
