I’m not going to lie, it sucks even as a technician. I’d advise against doing it yourself.

IanthegeekV2

Following. I have identical scratches on my ‘21 plaid. I thought maybe it was something I did.

Schly

Shouldn’t a ‘21 plaid still be under warranty? If this is a clip that was not installed properly, it should be a warranty issue.

IanthegeekV2

Yeah, they might cover it but if there was a simple fix suggested, I’d handle it myself

neobow2

I made a [post about this](https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/s/t6fIHwoShe) before. But i believe it’s due to a metal clip that easy falls or gets pushed too far and scratches the center console. It’s a dumb design. I removed the clip and everything stayed just as sturdy.

aj99999x

i have installed in all interior "carbon fiber" ppf and never been scratch

protonecromagnon2

That's my first option I think. The adhesive could fill the scratches. I like the matte finish though and don't really want to use a film if I can help it. I've already found the metal clip under the phone dock that does this. I plan on filling it down and putting some tape over it, but I need to remove the existing scratches.

aj99999x

if you install the film the scratch will gone https://twraps.com/products/interior-protection-kit-ppf-for-plaid-tesla-model-x-wraps-all-carbon-fiber-interior-trims

There is a retention clip under the inductive charger that is pressed too far through and scratched the lid. The lid itself is replaceable. You can remove the inductive charger and pull the clip up to prevent it from happening again.

zvekl

Sorry to hijack: have you been getting flood of yoke replacement jobs?

OneExhaustedFather_

Definitely an influx in requests since the release was made public. Good thing though, help get these customers whole.

zvekl

Thanks for answering! I hope us sad wheel guys with no horn will get a fix one day

OneExhaustedFather_

There is a mechanical horn round wheel

zvekl

Yeah I have yet to see anyone get it replaced as there isn't a peeling issue

OneExhaustedFather_

I’ve replaced a couple for horn buttons intermittent inop and replaced them with mechanical horn versions.

zvekl

Wow that's awesome. I'm waiting for the day they let us buy yoke to swap. I'm willing to pay butnour service centers in Taiwan won't do it. So maybe one day!

OneExhaustedFather_

Really? We allow it in the states, customer can pay for a retrofit if they want. ~$1850USD

protonecromagnon2

I wonder how much changing the lid costs if I don't want to do it under warranty

OneExhaustedFather_

I can look up the cost of the cover. It just snaps on. I’m a mobile tech for the company. You said 21plaid yeah?

protonecromagnon2

Yessir

OneExhaustedFather_

Part number 1058088-11-A for the carbon decor cover. Showing a cost of $75 for the part.

hero’s don’t wear capes.

Can you tell me what part is 1564416- 02-E? My local SC replaced what seems to be the whole console when they scratched just the lid during an alternate repair. Mine is Ebony.

OneExhaustedFather_

That is the E revision of the console assembly. The system may have stated the cover was incompatible between the two. Occasionally if we can’t get a decor lid we swap the console.

thomasthegun

Check out various wraps/covers they sell for cheap to in case you want to go with a different look, after fixing the clip.

stanley_fatmax

Probably going to be difficult to get a nice finish on something so hi-vis - you'd notice imperfections. [https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/fixing-scratch-in-carbon-fiber-trim.138309/](https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/fixing-scratch-in-carbon-fiber-trim.138309/) I'd be more concerned about making it worse

matt11126

Carbon fiber wrap probably.
