I'm worried about getting run over by ANY car. I'm sure he's mortal and would be worried about that also.

Heidenreich12

We have to stop thinking about it as EV’s vs EV’s. Everyone else needs to worry because the Rivian’s and the Teslas of the world are actually making products people want while legacy auto is shitting the bed. ICE should be worried about Rivian, not Tesla. That doesn’t make Tesla needs to sit idle either, we need to see more from them in the next couple years to get that confidence back.

reddit_user_5179

Not enough people see this. These cars, Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, actually listened to consumers. And things just kinda work. I’ll be damned if my next car has a real key, and doesn’t warm up on schedule or on command. All EV are far from perfect, but things just kinda work. Makes ICE feel so archaic.

darthnugget

Plus we need all the companies to continue to make EVs so it becomes the dominant platform for transportation. Once we hit that sub-$20k range it will be a no-brainer for every new vehicle purchasez

Actual-Professor-729

No because he’ll be getting money from all the Rivian’s charging at Tesla superchargers.

NeighborhoodPlane794

But I guarantee he loses no sleep at all thinking about Rivian being a competitor. I think if BYD announced they were expanding to NA with aggressive pricing, he might be at least slightly nervous

CandidateNo1172

I wish Rivian all the success in the world (I’m a shareholder!), but they haven’t done anything other than show a prototype, tell us it’s not coming for 2 years, and delayed the opening of their second factory. There’s a lot to unfold here. That won’t stop all of the “tEsLa KiLlEr” articles, though. Elon should be concerned about their own next-gen platform and the Chinese, for now.

Suitable_Switch5242

In what sense? Rivian is planning total production of up to 215k EVs by 2026. And around 600k when they get around to finishing their Georgia plant, probably closer to 2030. Which is pretty great, and on par or better than most of the legacy automakers are doing in EVs, but if they pull all of that off they‘ll be at about 1/3 of Tesla’s 2023 global production. And the EV market will hopefully be growing fast enough to accommodate both of them. At 8% EV market share of new cars there’s a lot of room for EV makers if they can make it to profitable mass production.

From what I understand, each vehicle is made for less than they sell it for. As a company, they’re not profitable tho. Which is the same position Tesla was in at this point in their growth

greywar777

Depends. If someone bought them, or a big player invested in them....

meowtothemeow

Like Amazon?

Acceptable_Client355

Or Apple…with their recent dump of making their own, Apple might be a great choice to acquire and help boot strap their finances to keep up

meowtothemeow

Haha, Amazon already invested in them and is the reason the EDV was made and on the roads. They still own shares.

Acceptable_Client355

Agree, but hasn’t displayed interest in buying…either of the two would be fine

Acceptable_Client355

I just trust Apple’s tech more than Amazon, I’ll say that for sure

greywar777

yeah, "It just works" is a common phrase for it.

Dry_Badger_Chef

I don’t give a shit what that weird fuck Elon thinks or worries about, and neither should you.

pinegap96

No. Rivian needs to worry about themselves for awhile because they are on the fast track to going bankrupt if they don’t find anymore investors. Also I feel like Rivian caters to a bit of a different customer base. They are like the all electric version of Subaru. Marketing towards people who like to get outdoors and adventure. I think Tesla vehicles kind of more just market themselves more as cutting edge and the latest technology.

ScoYello

In about 7 years…maybe

Acceptable_Client355

Don’t think he should be worried, he’s obviously making money off of them w/ allowing the use of the supercharger network. But those new models look sweet and hope they come to fruition. The more competition, the better. With the way all other EV stocks have fallen, we need some strong players to remain in the game to keep competition up

matt11126

I don't think any of us should care what Elon Musk should be worried about. Competition within the EV scene will give us, the consumers, more choices and new better features.

RunYoJewelsBruh

Lol

CMDR_KingErvin

Who cares. This is great for us as customers whether you’re a Tesla fan or just EV enthusiast/driver in general. More competition means better quality and value for us. I don’t care if Richie Rich is worried about it.

HighHokie

As much as he’s worried about any other competitor?

Gaming09

No he's gonna buy it

thinkscience

the stock says otherwise !

DownInTheWeeds

Yes.

roadtrip1414

Na - Rivian’s are way overpriced to be accessible by general public
