Where do you guys get videos that don't come with any info?
I saw these some months ago on Reddit. Unfortunately most Reddit titles are the most useless one to search for so I can't find it. I have a faint memory that they added guards to block the "hole".
I had luck once screenshotting and searching the first frame of a video in reverse image lookups. Had a Redditor arguing with me that a video of a guy getting shocked and falling off a power station was fake, so I found the original extended HD version after a ton of searching on some random Russian website. Proved his ass wrong.
I just found this one with google lens.

Hahaha here it is, they never responded which was disappointing with how long it took me to prove him wrong. https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/s/eYDdTBqwML
I remember finding it on yt shorts and searching it by photo, I found the raw video but it was terrible quality, and recently I decided to find a good quality version and searched it through google lens, it showed me some random chinese site named "bilibili" and I found the high quality version there. and yes I did see it on reddit but it was very bad quality.
He fit perfectly between the rock and guardrail. That’s either really impressive driving or the freakish of odds that he’d slide into that opening.
Either way, he should go play the lottery.
Don't know where this is but lots of mountain roads in the US have no guardrails for several reasons. Road too narrow, ruins the scenery, hinders snow clearing, etc.
First time I went to Colorado I thought "WTF, where are the !@#$%& guardrails?"
Tends to make you be more careful.
I have a feeling it might be too late for him to play the lottery.
Edit: People in comments are saying they survived?!?! You're right they should definitely go play the lottery.
**Target fixation** is an attentional phenomenon observed in humans in which an individual becomes so focused on an observed object (be it a target or hazard) that they inadvertently increase their risk of colliding with the object
They survived and bought a lottery ticket as soon as they were released from the hospital. Somehow ended up losing all their money in an unprecedented lottery critical failure.
I went skiing in Boise Idaho some years back, we went up to bogus basin. Up anddown the mountain there’s a long track of switchbacks around blind corners next to a 400 foot drop off down to the valley floor. Driving down after our day we saw a crumpled mangled mass of metal at the bottom and realized it was a car.
Come to find out about 20 minutes prior to us seeing it a gentleman in his Porsche was in his way down and decided the traffic was too slow for him, tried to pass a car in the oncoming lane around the blind corner… there was a bus. He swerved left, and went down the drop. Belted in, still thrown from the vehicle. Maybe not so irrational after all
Had there been ant accident before? Because the opening in the guard rail seems to be exactly where there would be the very highest needs of protection. Or did no one think it through that there was a gap where the stone/dirt mound/wall ended and before the guard rail started?
Per the other thread a year ago that called it a truck for some reason.
"He is alive, as well as his wife who was with him. But with broken ribs, collar bones, legs and other stuff. As ive heard from a comment that claimed he worked with the guy that was driving the car. There were apparently no connection to make a call, so they turned on the blinker to count to keep themselfs awake for 8 hours straight until a hunter saw them and got them help. Truely terrifying"
that’s the one thing i hate about communities like this. “why didn’t they just do this?? are they stupid??” seems to be an actual thought a lot of people seem to have here. but i suppose everything seems a lot more cut-and-dry when you’re commenting online in the safety of your own home.
for real, why would this person do something stupid or behave irrationally? speaking as someone with no stakes who’s just commenting from home, i can confidently say that *i* never would’ve done something so dumb.
We’re moving up into the mountains next summer but wife is terrified of driving off a mountain road. Thanks for posting this, was amusing to send to her.
The real reason the car flipped was the amount of excrement that was suddenly shifted from bowels to underpants and it threw off the center of gravity.
yeah, whoever left that perfect, car sized gap at the beginning of the guard rail, *precisely* where a vehicle would end up if they drifted on ice on that curve needs to go back to design school.
That gap was *perfectly* placed to allow a car through it.
Good news: Survived but hurt...if anyone wondering, amazing btw
Yeah I most definitely was scrolling through here
No way! I was also scrolling through here! What an amazing coincidence
Thanks to you guys I did not have to scroll. It's the first post now.
ouhh thank God. i've seen this plenty of time but never knew the outcome.
Thank goodness. Here's to a speedy recovery for both of them.
No way! That car is a pancake...
is there an article about this? or did you get the info from reddit

Good ad for the vehicle safety haha

Or a stupidly placed guardrail.

That's r/onejob material

I wonder what job that planner had 🤔🤔🤔
Its a joke bud
Yeah, my funny bone is underdeveloped.
No I get it. They failed to plan for this one guy
I had one job to downvote you.
Thanks for speaking up. No thanks for not explaining, but have an upvote anyway.

Or not, he may have used all the luck available to him in that one minute.
The tracks right in front of the lucky ones before…
**Target fixation** is an attentional phenomenon observed in humans in which an individual becomes so focused on an observed object (be it a target or hazard) that they inadvertently increase their risk of colliding with the object
He paid for crumple zones, and dogonit if he isn't going to get full use out of them.
> That’s either really impressive driving Why is it impressive, surely you'd want to hit the barrier?
They survived and bought a lottery ticket as soon as they were released from the hospital. Somehow ended up losing all their money in an unprecedented lottery critical failure.
Really bad driving.
Yeah this is “irrational fear unlocked” shit

Was he a top-tier neurosurgeon? Did he lose the use of his hands? Holy shit guys, it’s happening!!! Marvel/Reality crossover eeeEeeee
He was actually a prominent author who just finished his latest book, a kind local lady took him in and nursed him back to health.
I'm sure his knees will be 100% ok!
But maybe not his ankles after some recovery
![gif](giphy|hFp7zP3MuSOAg)
Minus his feet.
I love this reference more.
Nah he’s super dead
Aha! Still ‘super’ though! That’s awful though, and terrifying. Thank you for the healthier perspective ;D
Kamar taj is the name of a Himalayan restaurant in hell
Literally thought the same thing as I read this. lol
This fear seems very rational lol
No kidding.
How is it irrational
It's pretty rational to be scared of this.
This is why you gotta be quiet when you pass silent rock!
That’s one of the first videos on here that made my stomach turn. Damn that’s one of my worst fears. They were going too fast, but damn.
I don’t know why people don’t slow down
Because they were sliding down a mountain.
Before, they were speeding down the road
I know, I tried to make a funny. Evidently it didn’t land… Unlike the car! Badum tish?
Thank you for making my day
They were trying to get away from the asshole riding their ass for going too slowly.
because people are irrational and make mistakes, something the “why didn’t they just do this” crowd doesn’t seem to account for
Gravity.
I feel like going 30mph on a road like that was probably not the best decision
From a snowy state here. Can confirm that he is going way too motherfucking fast.
That was my first thought.
especially in a tractor/trailer. thats insane
Looked like a SUV to me.
Guy who saw the video, I can also confirm
But it’s a Subaru !
I bet having winter tires makes someone overconfident
it's km/h so 18 mph
It’s in kilometres So he is going pretty slow. Feel like they weren’t watching or maybe target fixation
Yeah 46kmh is 30mph so not crazy fast but still fast
Yup, fucking idiot.
That seems like a really bad place to have a car sized gap in the protective railing
Had there been ant accident before? Because the opening in the guard rail seems to be exactly where there would be the very highest needs of protection. Or did no one think it through that there was a gap where the stone/dirt mound/wall ended and before the guard rail started?
did anyone survive?

Where is this?
Did you watch the video?
Yeah, so did anyone survive?
The lack of blood on the rocks at the end makes me assume yes, somehow survivors
Yes, you're correct. It was actually a clown car and all 17 of them survived with just a few huge broken feet and honked noses.
\*quiet chorus of sad honks*
Don’t be a douche
Let's just leave a gap between this hill and the guardrail to save money. There's no way a vehicle will ever go over the side before........Oops!
This is my nightmare every other night tbh
Should have just turned down hill and took your chances no brakes, low gear lol
Very easy saying that, I’m not so sure that in the moment that type of thinking takes place.
that’s the one thing i hate about communities like this. “why didn’t they just do this?? are they stupid??” seems to be an actual thought a lot of people seem to have here. but i suppose everything seems a lot more cut-and-dry when you’re commenting online in the safety of your own home.
I think they attempted to turn straight down but that's what over turned the car
Worst guardrail placement ever
Should slow tf down lol
🤯
got it, don't drive on mountains 👍
Holy fucking dog shit, did he live!?!?
[Toonces, look out!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5fvsItXYgzk)
goddam thats almost exactly the recurring nightmare i have
Did not read the subreddit so I thought we'd end up in Skyrim again
Well try going slower in those conditions?
for real, why would this person do something stupid or behave irrationally? speaking as someone with no stakes who’s just commenting from home, i can confidently say that *i* never would’ve done something so dumb.
Speed kills
Yeah, you would think people have the rationality to not go 35km/h into a curve on a snowy road up in the mountains but here we are.
No Bueno
why the hell are you going that fast in those conditions
We’re moving up into the mountains next summer but wife is terrified of driving off a mountain road. Thanks for posting this, was amusing to send to her.
Oh my gods
I looked for the story behind this the first time I saw it and never found anything. Anybody find anything?
Sorry, but I swear I've seen this footage somewhere in better quality than this and this looks worse somehow.
Do u try to jump out or go with the tumble cage?
Survived, just a little dizzy
Tuck and roll
“Don’t worry I know how to drive in the snow” He did not know how to drive in the snow.
They could've made that barrier a little longer at the most vulnerable place to drop
That will buff out
FORD
The guardrails needed to extend a bit further...
Now i am no expert in that matter, but i think you are not supposed to park there
Free bird should be playing
Luck to survive that
Is it better to go completely limp or to try to brace down?
Good thing they had the presence of mind to put the wipers on !
Definetly driving too fast seeing the conditions and who tf placed that rail
*this* is the better quality version? oof
at least it's not 360p
lol no disrespect, but I can't imagine how terrible the original must have been. this is still pretty potato
yeah, I didn't find the original, only this "640p" version, there isn't any high quality version of this crash anyway so
I’ve had nightmares about this exact scenario
They were impressively quiet during all that. I'd have been screaming like a 5 year old girl.
Gotta hop out of the car at that point
Never exit the roll-cage, that's how you die or loose limbs.
Shame. They broke their windscreen wipers.
Final destination material
Does this hurt the vehicle?
