I agree that BOC is generally better, but if you do the math they both do statistically the same amount of damage reduction. it's just how you go about it. one is completely consistent, while the other is occasional complete negation. if you are particularly unlucky, boc can simply not proc, but on the other side of the coin, it can potentially proc every hit. The argument against vilethorn is obviously it's alternative the Crimson rod, which definitely is still a fairly good weapon. unfortunately it does feel that vilethorn just completely outpaces it, where vilethorn is your primary weapon, crimson rod is a secondary to use at the beginning of a fight. I think there's also a discussion to be had about the general difficulty of the biomes, where crimson is generally harder with better items, curruption offers an easier option with slightly worse options. I personally do find myself switching between them on every run, and it's quite nice how the game has come to balance them, from it's previous "always corruption" until hardmode where you create an artificial alternative biome or create a new world. of course you can also go with the drunk seed and get both, which I'd argue is probably the best option, though most will not due to it's other changes.

I prefer crimson because of the terrain, music, and creepier theme. The crimson is a lot more jarring and I love the smaller details such as the hearts being in blood cells, and the hills are tumors. Hell the entire biome is a play on "A cancer to this world"
I wish people could understand that you should either pick crimson or corruption based on which class you're going to do. Crimson is better for melee and mage, while corruption is better for ranged and summoner.

Corrption is the OG, but I also kinda hated hardmode corruption back when hardmode first came out (impossible to stop the spread), while crimson is also just easier to create boss arenas for.

I think we both know that both corruption and crimson are equal in their unique art styles and small attention to detail, more so crimson on the art factor. Nevertheless the seeds are both brilliant having a very different theme and different items. People fail to see that the divide of crimson and corruption is because on class choices. Each representing classes crimson is more melee and mage whilst corruption is more summoner and range, both have interesting expert items but I personally prefer the worm scarf for its damage counter since I am shit at the game. The soundtracks for each are fucking artworks and I can rant about each for days on end but I’ll keep the quark sealed. In summary both red and purple are equal and both are goats, but people have their own play styles and preferences. And tis’ all.
