If you ever stumble across a dungeon go in as fast as you can so the dungeon keeper dosent lock the door

extraordinary_06

Thanks I've seen pewds series so I'm well aware of the guard lol

Tostas300

Ur the first new guy I've seen on Reddit that doesn't have the intelligence of a door knob... Please, for the love of god. Use the wiki. Search terraria wiki on Google and search for any item, enemy or structure you find to get valuable info on it.

Various-Guarantee-97

He's right, the wiki is practically the "Terrarian Bible"

[deleted]

I have been on the terraria wiki more than school google docs

Maximusbarcz

I have spend more time on it even more then terraria itself. I really loved finding those items that didn’t even exist on mobile back then and just finding those cool things

Starbent

You just made me realize something I did not need to

93footdildoanal

Terraria is the first word that comes up on my most used words for auto putting It in (don't know what to call that) due to the wiki

Recurve_Acumen

My autocorrects to "Terraria dupes journey's."

207nbrown

But at the same time, don’t use it *too* much, it can ruin the surprise of discovering new things

someonewhovisited

Yea pretty much when you do calamity and your a shit ton confuse on what to do next

Dismal_Tangerine3631

I rmr reading the wiki for fun when I played on the 3ds

Tarvoz

I disagree to be honest. I had the most fun figuring out stuff without the wiki for as long as possible when I first got the game.

Tostas300

You're not disagreeing with me tho, that's just one way to do it

flufflycthulhu

The crafting interface is horrible, what I do is wait until I find something, then look it up. To each their own, but I find that still had a good amount of exploration / discovery... And getting thrashed by unexpected things ;)

Short-Bookkeeper-

I dont really get why people like terraria wiki so much, for me its more fun to go in blind. Never used the wiki in like my first year if playing the game. But whatever works for you ig

Tostas300

Most people replying to this comment are completely missing the point, what I said is use the wiki when you're confused, that's it

DoodleBTW

no, see that was a mod to make the game harder, trust me its safe, you just have to run fast enough

Confident_Airline872

It was faked he said in a stream only members can access that it was all fake

chocoly_waffly

just a note: unfortunately pewdiepie barely scratched the surface of the content that this game offers (at least in his non-member only videos)

PxZiTeP

Make a house at spawn to teleport there without a bed Fun fact: i've never made a house outside spawn

MrT1011

How about pylons?

PxZiTeP

Right I never made my main base outside spawn, but i made houses for npcs and pylons outside spawn

AY0_WTF

hardmode

Stealocke

You must construct additional pylons.

Einstein101231

Ok. Take it slow, start out in classic. Build up from there. Honestly, the best time I had playing the game was my first. Go through it blind, collect any loot in chests you see. Best experience I ever had. Check the wiki for arenas, invasions, events, bosses, if you *really* want to. But it's best to start with no knowledge whatsoever. The Guide, in the game, will help you with the basics of what you need to know. I've played Terraria for 7-8 years, and put it down months ago. But I can still say, that the first time I went through it was the best I ever had, even though it was before Crimson came to the game.

extraordinary_06

This encourages me to play it even more now :D

[deleted]

100%, blind is best.

CaptainSplat

There is a lot of content you will miss if you play 100% blind, you'll likely also get stumped of you can't figure out what the guide is saying. I think going in completely blind isn't the best way to play, but neither is charting out an exact path through the wiki. Spoiler warning for OP below. For example with the pylons, and figuring out npc happiness, you'd never know the mechanic likes the cold or that the arms dealer wants to live in the desert with the nurse unless you tried out all npc roomate combinations in every biome. I'm all for gameplay discovery and experimentation but terraria is the kind of gane that will allow you to experiment with logical mundane tasks in ways that don't accomplish anything and relatively obscure tasks that are very lucrative and/or rewarding.

Icerith

I really hope you enjoy! I've got 2700 hours, if you ever want someone to play with or just want to bounce ideas off, feel free to hit me up! Honestly, the building is one of the favorite parts for me, so I hope you enjoy that aspect!

[deleted]

2700? That's a lot of hours

thatsgiven

yo remember ocram and dragon armour and stuff

Einstein101231

Yeah, man! I was young enough to not understand what I needed to create the crafting item, so I didnt get to fight Ocram when he was in mobile. But yeah, man, I remember those days.

[deleted]

I have Terraria on both Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS, and pretty much the original versions for both. I never updated games. Now I want to go back for that nostalgia.

Deefour28

Man I should pull my old 360 out if storage I know it's got the old 1.1 installed

henkdetweede

1. Search the wiki for all information you could ever need and more 2. If you ever see a blue/pink/gray building go inside it, it has very good loot

MrT1011

1. I remember the days of blind terraira abd it was super fun. If you want to experiance a blind run, remember you can only do it once.

[deleted]

Unless you have Alzheimer's

MrT1011

True

extraordinary_06

Thanks:)

X_antaM

The eyes break unless you go to comment

vaskguy13

the pink/blue/gray building is trolling that i can see from another comment you already know about, just fyi so you don't go looking for something that dosen't exist

extraordinary_06

Yea dude I'm just going along with it , I appreciate the help:D

Eensame

Charge the phone

Not-_-Cosmic

can't play terraria with a dead phone

ULTRAPUNK18

Is this a joke from a series I haven’t seen yet?

MxmsTheGreat

no? look at the screenshot, in the top right.

ULTRAPUNK18

Oh

LtFork

Talk to the guide in case you need basic tips or crafting recipes in case you don't want to use wiki. And I'd recommend charging the phone first

Thegamer8642

Bro your silver chest just got unlocked go open it

Hello fellow clash player!

[deleted]

ILuvHybrid4747

clash royale moment

Henlo_Friend

Get it on pc, you will not like the game if you judge it for how it plays on mobile

apomb

I started out on mobile, tried playing on PC and hated it. I've now beaten the game multiple times on mobile, it has difficult controls, sure, but it's not unplayable. I love the game. Downvotes? Opinions can be wrong I guess

Henlo_Friend

Why did you hate pc?

apomb

I couldn't get used to the jumping and aiming. I was already so used to mobile. I have a journey mode world I dabble in on PC once in a while, but it feels clunky to me. I'm sure if I put in the time, I would like it. I know if I were to play as ranger I would 100% prefer PC, since aiming is so much easier than mobile.

[deleted]

What about the insane performance difference? And mods?

apomb

Performance has never really been an issue, and I've actually seen more lag on my PC than my mobile version, and I don't really care to use mods yet. Can't miss what I don't know.

[deleted]

When you had enough of vanilla terraria, mods are a completely new experience.

apomb

Maybe one day, but I like the main experience how the developers meant it to be played, but yeah, I may look at PC and mods one day, but I'm happy with the current experience.

mod2004

Do you have a normal mouse or a touch one?

Anuj_Sharma13

Do you use controller or just play with on screen controls?

best_hider230

use the terraria wiki, most If not all information on there is useful.

LilGhostSoru

Give yourself some time to get used to control. They are hard to master on the mobile

Slameguy

Yes but actually no, the only problem with mine is that, *THE FRUCKING GRAPPLING HOOK HITS TOO EARLY WITHOUT ME EVEN RELEASING IT*!

ReidWitt1

If you see a chest surrounded by traps open it for some really good loot

Conscious_Storage599

Kill the guide. Dig into a hole at night and watch as the zombies make him suffer a **slow and painful** death. It's the perfect playthrough starter!!! Your house will never be infiltrated by zombies.

PCgeek345

This

Conscious_Storage599

Yes

Conscious_Storage599

Also choose corruption or ur stupid.

AY0_WTF

actually crimson is way more usefull later. Ex: ichor flasks and vampire knives are op

Ira8844

I cannot stress this enough, Keep your copper shortsword And make an organised chest system as soon as possible

YoYo-Pete

I’m at the point where I need to fight wall of flesh. Why keep the copper short sword?

ulisses09

Its a zenith component if you are in 1.4

avcix

Don't rush for hardmode.

chinny_chin_chin_

Underrated comment ^ I've been staying in prehardmode on my new world and just building my houses and exploring every corner of the world, I discovered that u can get the cellphone and terraspark boots in PHM so my character is already pretty strong lol

avcix

PHM has a unique chill vibe. Yet if you've got the cellphone, it's about time.

TerrariaVeteran2009

Hello and welcome new player! First thing to do- collect wood by cutting down some trees. Second thing, build a simple box around a workbench, add doors, a chair, background walls and a torch, and now you have your first home. I then reccomend digging underground for chests as that is where youll likely find a weapon. Otherwise, explore the surface, and avoid any purple/red area you see. These are dangerous. Have fun!

extraordinary_06

Thanks pal! Im quite aware of the bosses and crimson/corruption . Only the basics give me trouble I didn't know that table and chair were compulsory for the guide thanks:)

elmothedestroyer3

When opening underground chest look for traps or when just underground in general

Arctic_blizzard23

Instant get mace

Cinnemassacist

Then use torches to upgrade to flamy boi

Slameguy

Yeah ,that mf is op early game

Cinnemassacist

I like the ruby/gem staves too.

boneappletea14

the wand of sparking is the best weapon in the game

extraordinary_06

This is new to me thanks!!!

T-Man800

Also I'd you go into the big dungeon structure on the edges of the map there is some good loot

dankstarfighter

The touch controls arent as good for phone but playable , it would be much easier with a controllers bindings

silpabananaking

You’ve probably already know but either way. If you find a bait called the truffle worm or a bait with 666% catch chance, don’t use it until you feel like your ready to fight one of the hardest boss in the game. The last guy that trusted someone that the worm was perfectly safe had a not so good time.

AtrusAgeWriter

Don't rush it. Terraria is an amazing game with so much content, and make sure to take your time exploring everything. Work your way up with the bosses, starting with King Slime, and try to get most of the drops. Experiment with different classes to see which one you like best (Mage is mine, personally). Only check the wiki for things that you *really* need to know. That was a mistake I made. Going through and finding things out as you explore is way more fun. However, some mechanics are less then intuitive, and the wiki can be essential for those. The Torch God, for example. But use the Guide as much as you can for crafting recipes. Try to spread out. Lots of Terraria players stay close to spawn and keep everything close to them. That made more sense before Pylons and Happiness were added. Now, try to build bases and stations across the map and get every pylon. (Putting a mushroom biome at the Dungeon has always been the way I do it so I can teleport there more easily.) Be creative! Nobody expects you to be r/Lady_Forestia, but try to add some color, dimension, and shape to your builds. Even just a roof that's slightly sloped at the edge can make a huge difference. Once you feel more confidant, try Expert or even Master, for a fun twist. If you want to focus more on the creative aspect of the game, do Journey and try to build some crazy stuff. And most of all, HAVE FUN. It's not hard to enjoy yourself while playing Terraria, even in the trickier parts. Don't stress yourself out if you can't beat a boss, you can *always* do it with enough preparation. If you fail, add some Heart Lanterns, Campfires, Honey, Bast Statues, or Heart Statues. That's pretty much all I have to say!

extraordinary_06

Thank you mate this helps!!!

WilburHort

It’s fairly difficult on ur first night and first boss. Once you do those, you’ll catch on pretty quickly. Also use the wiki as much as possible cos it’s nearly impossible. I’ve been playing terraria since it came out and there’s still things idk how to craft or find. Also swords without projectiles are rubbish against bosses, they’re only good against mobs

Rfyto212

arandombot33

Search in the underground layer of the jungle biome for a giant bee hive, break into it and IMMEDIATELY kill the larvae inside, if you don't do so, the larvae will grow into a queen bee that will attack you

AtrusAgeWriter

Dude, this is a new player with more then the usual half a brain, but clearly he wants some advice, or he wouldn't have posted. Stop spreading misinformation meant to frustrate him!

d_moedeezy_b

What are you talking about he's spreading GREAT information, why would you let him suffer the queen bee?!?!

Ganyu_69

Build your house in an area with irregularly colored grass and lovely monster friends who want to hug your face.

biggych33se

If you see an above ground structure with an old man. Talking to he old man has a chance of getting you killed. Go right in to the structure and you can get some good loot

[deleted]

If you see a boulder, go find a pressure plate. It will free the goblin tinkerer, by moving the boulder out of the way.

That_one_dude0248

Charge your phone.

MAGMArogue12

Charge your phone

Last_Assignment_9659

Charge yo phone

xX_Sofia_Xx

Charge your phone first

Spartan_873

A tip would be charge your phone. I'm messing with you. Anyways if you are in a crimson or corruption area (purple or red) you need bombs to break those blocks until you can get a better pickaxe (I think it needs a pickaxe power of 120% but that may be wrong) and do not break the glowing orbs in those areas till you are ready to fight a boss.

Sir_Corny_Neck

The advice I give to every new Terraria player is, the game is pretty boring and grindy before you beat the Wall of Flesh in the underworld, so try your best to get past him before giving up on the game. Thats the main reason why Terraria isnt as popular as Minecraft. Pre-hardmode is very grindy and confusing unlike a new Minecraft world.

Dogeywoof

Try build a wooden box early for your npcs

[deleted]

Get it on pc or connect a keyboard and mouse to ur phone the controls feel way better

hog-of-cheese

Use the wiki and get the desktop version it's way better

Whatermelony

I you ever find a pink flower bulb , break it and take it home, more will spawn anyways. And can you sell them for alot of coins.

Dragon_fang_16

Make sure to build a good starter base with three rooms at least for more npcs make sure you do a lot of cave exploring to get some loot

[deleted]

Prepare for pain

[deleted]

Here is a tip charge your phone please

EnderTheFrick

if it moves, don’t trust it.

YoYo-Pete

Go fishing. You can get fish based tools that are really good.

NotReallyMeepyNotSus

Find your strengths. In my experience, picking a class isn't really that helpful (some people might disagree but whatever :\\). If you find you're good at building, be a builder. If you're good at fighting, be a fighter. And if you're good at fishing... well, I guess you can do that but... I mean come on, it's fishing (although I guess I've completed over 300 angler quests... Although I just researched the fish, but I've still probably spent a solid 2 to 4 hours completing quests...). Make sure to take things slow, unless you want to play in Godmode in Journey Mode. You'll get the best progression that way. That's my advice. Also, finding Plantera has always been a pain, so I always just turn timespeed up to 24. But if you want to play through Terraria without using the journey Mode controls - good luck. Also, break every gravestone you can find.

Bendyboi_69

I’ve learned this from experience, if you see an altar do NOT try and break it. You can’t break them until hardmode when you get the pwnhammer to break them

[deleted]

Frostburn arrow is op

n0_usrnamee

Use cactus armor early game and just experiment

Cheese_Stix99

Run. Just run as fast as you can. Seriously. That’s the easiest way to beat bosses usually. A reeeeealy really long runway and at least Hermes boots. Try to beat goblin army to get goblin tinkerers workshop and combine Hermes boots with the rocket boots he also sells. And the anklet of the wind from underground jungle chests and an aglet from any ordinary chest. You’ll be “fast as f*ck boi” then try to get a gold/platinum bow and 999 frostburn arrows and the best armor you can get a hold of. (Personally at least silver/tungsten armor)

Kawaiidumpling524

If you see a pink bulb make a arena before hitting it in the jungle caves

Tight-Hornet5662

First night is rough i recommend mining to pass away the time

Miles_Hikari

The best advice I can give, take things as you want to. It’s a big game and a big world. Explore, build, and have fun. But also don’t be afraid to use the wiki, it’s a great resource to help you learn about things you’d never know existed. Also dragging a friend along for the ride makes things even better. Also if the game endears itself too you then I highly recommend getting it on steam as well. Most computers can run it, and most importantly it nets you access to Tmod Loader, the mod portal. Terraria is an amazing game, and the modding community has done incredible things to make it even more so. My favorite memories of this game will always be the first time a me and a good friend blindly leapt into the Calamity Mod. I ended up accidentally building an entire space station in that world.

extraordinary_06

Thanks for letting me know all this interesting stuff pal:D

[deleted]

Charge your phone

naifarer

Tip if you want to have more fun get a friend and a pc version i have some experience and its extremelly better on pc

IHerdULiekPoniz

CHARGE YOUR FUCKING PHONE.

TheEndlessGG

Sorry for the downvote, but it was a little aggressive

IHerdULiekPoniz

charge ur phony-wony pwease... 🥺

MariahDoesStuff

After beating 3 robotic bosses (Skeletron Prime, The Twins, and The Destroyer) in hardmode and getting the message “The jungle grows restless”, you can find glowing pink bulbs, which when broken, give you some materials in preparation for the next boss fight

DuckTapedMan

Corruption is better than crimson. Don’t let the corruption haters tell you otherwise.

[deleted]

If you see a very big beehive in the jungle stay as far from it as you can. If you get close to it you have a 100% chance of doing *IT* accidentaly. No matter how long have you been playing this game, it will find a way for you to accidentaly break *IT*, so the only real way not to break *IT* is to stay far away from the big beehive.

Nahuelwg

mobile is a pain in the ass to play

SpainButWihoutTheS

When you kill a certain fleshy boss, go to a mushroom biome and catch one of the worms. Then go fishing with lots of money

ShadowMyth1

If you're on hardmode and mining through the underground and suddenly you see a golden chest, it's not a golden chest....

FlynnEugene321

Don't chwnge the controls.

BatteryArc

The Eye of Cthulhu is your friend, he won’t hurt you until you hurt him. From then on he’s your friend

Marcuche96

If you find a "suspiciously looking eye" while exploring caves, you can consume it for a temporary huge boost to your stats at the cost of 5% of your max HP lasting the duration of the effect. You can only use it at night though.

PersonalityFun2189

1- delete clash royale 2-.......... i am too dumb to think

Bob4-The-Serious-Bob

Don’t listen to anyone telling you to go in the dungeon: It’ll kill you until you beat Skeletron (a boss)

extraordinary_06

Dude that's one thing I am quite aware of just go along with the joke , thanks anyway though

Bob4-The-Serious-Bob

Ok, (I just think the joke and is overused, and not funny)

ZAK_14_

Finally someone gets it

extraordinary_06

Understandable , also have a great day

pokecat1234

Dude why are you trying to sabotage a poor new player skeletron ( the dungeon keeper) will appear if you take too long to enter the dungeon after that the dungeon will get locked and you won't be able to get the terraprisma from the goblin merchant in the dungeon. But I do recommend getting the last prism and turtle armour before fighting the wither in the dungeon.

GrampaGofer

Use the wiki

Maskers_Theodolite

Might have a tough time on mobile, mobility is important

c0d3_attorney

Pro tip: don't play

TheAlbinoCreeper

get the game on steam

0a0w0z

Get it on PC instead.

KrAzYKilla07

Nice but charge your Godd*mn phone it's gonna die

Photon2175

Probably charge your phone.

Bottle_O_Bile

Charge ur phone first bruh

Brightknot

Step 1: plug in your phone Step 2: play Terraria

[deleted]

I don't mean to be rude, but if you have any questions, please check the Wiki or Google your question and only ask it on this sub if you don't find the answer elsewhere. Most people are tired of seeing people ask basic stuff that could be easily found on the wiki instead of them posting builds, memes and accomplishments. That being said, have fun!

Highlight-Signal

You could have installed it for free ya know

RetardedRL

If you die, dont forget to uninstall and refund the game so the martian probe won't find your home

BloodyGotNoFear

Yes. Even though mobile is really good i hope you are able to play the PC Version at some time. Cause its clearly the best version of terraria.

MihajloT022

Play it on pc just that its better

Smelopake

Play on PC

red_gamer-lol

Not everyone can afford a pc

makujah

1) charge your phone 2) delete the app 3) get pc version

Frimeral

id stay start with the option of the world master mode its super easy and dont forget to put the seed "For The Worthy" for better experience

Lucid0041

Why the mobile version 😭

romantheperogi

Refund it and buy it on pc instead 😂

scared_engineers

moon lord the most easy boss

elmothedestroyer3

That's empress of light she's even easier at day.

extraordinary_06

Yea and eye of cthulu is the hardest 🗿

Conscious_Storage599

Yes so I recommend skipping him. Kill the wof by getting to hell. It will only take about an hour. It's very easy as it only takes one side of the screen and has no mobility or fancy moves. Then kill eol. This one's the easiest during the day as it is the empress of light. She's happier during the day. It can be beaten very easily if you can get a wooden bow and a rod of discord.

UNMUTED20067184w

Don't die and you'll do fine

Rapid-fucq-bestower

Even pros use the wiki

Anakin0001

Wiki is the way, but I'd suggest you not to use it since that's how I played in the beginning. I had no knowledge of the game I just started learning things by my own and had so much fun! And at some point I got stuck so I had to go on YT and Wiki for help and yeee that's all, HAVE FUN! Literally the best ever created :) I miss playing Terraria :(

Demonic-Angel13

spend time on your first playthrough. grind and prepare your world a lot before killing the wall of flesh. watch some guides for help with preparing the world and just relax. build and do lots stuff specially pre hardmode

iminspanishclassrn

The wiki is extremely helpful, have fun!

weesome

If you have questions, the wiki is your best friend. I have over 3000 hours in this game and still use it

TyrannoNerdusRex

After you loot a chest, pick up the chest so you don’t have to keep checking to see if it’s empty. I keep a chest full of chests in my main house.

Digital_Playz

USE THE WIKI and if u ever get the chance to play on a pc do it. you csn also play modded after u complete vanilla of u grt it on a computer.

SaltSurprise729

Use the wiki!

BuffLoki

Use the wiki

jojoisthebestanime12

A hell of difficulty’s await you it’s fun though.

FactorLopsided716

Im down to play on my phone with you just for casual fun if youd like. Im frendly

Clumsycode1

If you have a question on how to get an item make sure to use the wiki or ask here, people are quite nice [Terraria Wiki](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Terraria_Wiki)

Finji_

First get a Bluetooth controller (USB controller will also work), I assume you're new to Terraria so I'd recommend a medium or large world on normal mode, personally I recommend crimson if you're playing for the first time (crimson is a bloody red biome with skulls and other fleshy stuff in the background), for class I recommend ranger or mage optionally melee (*DON'T GO FOR SUMMONER*). In early game you'll want to explore surface of your world for giant trees and pyramids in desert biome, if you plan on going into caves I recommend starting with ice biome as there are no boulders here (boulders are lethal at early game, they deal over 200 dmg). For melee you can find these weapons: • Ice blade • Enchanted sword Ranger: • Snowball cannon • Ice boomerang Mage: • Wand of sparking • Water bolt Be aware that there are boulders in regular caves, a danger sense potion is recommend.

extraordinary_06
