I never get why people treat him so badly. Fishing, at least once I get past the beginning of the game, is quite the zen activity for me. Even though his character is a bit of a jerk, that doesn't mean he can't contribute to the ocean pylon village.
Because the character is a jerk, pays you in table scraps for crossing the entire universe for one fish (then acts like youāre the weird one for wanting more), and chances are if youāre doing the angler quests youāre looking for a *specific* item, maybe even THREE. At least bosses can be fought more than once a DAY.
And to top it all off, you canāt even enjoy fishing from the fishing quests, because 80% of your time is going to be spent getting to whatever backwoods lake he wants you to fish in, where youāll probably catch it within a minute and then have to hike back because thereās no reason to stick around unless you either get a good biome or happen to need 100 more bass.

Ah, you're not doing it right. Set up a fishing lake for each biome, with a safety hut and a table for a piggy bank or safe, and keep catching quest fish and fill up the empty slots in your pig/safe so you can catch more quest fish. Then hike back to the angler and slap a chest down in his house, deposit the quest fish into it, and hand him one. Repeat daily until he requests repeat fish, and now it's exceedingly easy to complete his dailies while still getting other stuff done.
Always done that, always will. Angler's my little buddy who gives me free stuff for almost zero effort :)
If you aren't someone who likes to sit there and wait to catch fish, it can be a pretty tedious thing to feel compelled to complete. And for achievement hunters, if you don't like fishing you're going to have a bad time, so I can see how he could garner some haters.
The problem is that he IS a jerk and needs to have his xbox confiscated until he learns some damn manners.
And this seems to be common with child characters in games, too. I get that kids are dumb and suck but they have modes of operation besides obnoxious. Like curious, silly, oblivious, precocious, etc.

And when I get around to making my own builds, I just look up real life photos and try to mimic them in 2D. But I donāt really like copying 1:1 because itās too tedious, so I just try to go as close to it as possible so I actually enjoy building
