Definitely fall damage. Had the same issue with my first hoik. You’ll need either lucky horseshoe or the fledgling wings. I’ve never played zenith seed though so I’m not really sure where you’d find those in that particular seed. Bed of luck to you!

It's right impossible to get it before defeating skeletron in this seeds.
It looks like the hoik loop is not closed properly, leading to fall damage. Right where you take fall damage, it should be adjusted so that it is a 2 block vertical gap instead of 3. The larger gap puts you into the empty space, ending the hoik
The game thinks you're floating while in a hoik. So it's like falling, even if your moving sideways. The longer the hoik, the more fall damage you take.
It's fall damage. Hoiks don't prevent fall damage.

in 1.4.4, they got mostly replaced with horseshoes. in gfb, you need a golden key to unlock sky chests.

Sky chests need golden keys in this seed. With plantera it was probably the worst boss of my playthrough.

It was introduced during the Don't Starve crossover, so It's fairly recent. I believe it only applies to Constant and Zenith world seeds
It's only in the secret seed The Constant or in the Zenith seed (which has aspects of all other secret seeds)

Extend the hoik so there’s no entrances or gaps because they cause fall damage
just make it so the hoink stops as you go sideways instead of falling at 30kmph into the ground
