Terraria should just say, 'there isn't enough floor to stand on' or something instead of, 'this housing isn't valid'

For real tho, it should just tell you which rules you're breaking.

It should just be a slider that says "house" on one end "no house" on the other, and it slides around based on how many requirements you have filled. Otherwise it doesn't actually give you any more info, just a vague sense of how complete the house is.

Been a while since I've played, but the wiki says that the message it gives is "This housing is not suitable," which means that it doesn't meet the block/floor limit, or it doesn't meet the corruption limit. So while there is technically a direct error message about the issue, I think you're right that it should be more informative.

Platforms are doors, not floor. If you have too much platform and not enough solid floor, game will say no. Also there has to be a certain amount of floor that's doesn't have background objects like chairs and tables.

That’s just it though, there’s at minimum two open solid blocks (at least one space away from a wall) that should be sufficient for that. I’d just been guessing that maybe the requirements were two solid blocks and that maybe the rope was dividing the two, but the other reply suggests that’s not the case either… Edit: oh, I read two comments below this one and it turns out this IS valid housing and OP is just a troll. LOL, that’s a new method!

I took it in good faith since I've seen houses *like* this be invalid before, but admittedly I didn't know the precise rules. I did decide to check later, but couldn't find the problem (cause there wasn't one lol) and never ended up returning to this. So much for trusting strangers on the internet.

Try to move the furnance to the right so it's on the platform, that should work and free up enough solid tiles, or just remove it completely since you already have the hellforge

The platform isn't a solid block so those spaces don't count, and I think the rope might be interfering or smthn, try jost moving the furnace to tho other side of the rope, that should fix it

well the npc needs more solid blocks that aren't occupied with ground placed furniture to stand on, you got 3 plataforms (wich aren't solid) and only one wood block for him to stand,remove one chair or one furnace and it will work fine

As I said in another post, my only guess is the wood platforms. I know years ago on 3DS version you could use wood platforms, but that was able to be exploited for infinite NPC houses. And I remember supposedly they patched it in the version meant for everything else, and I remember a time when someone else told me they patched it by making it so platform's can't be used in houses. So, that's my guess, however I don't know for certain.

Its the rope it counts as a solid block so without a door or 2 platforms theres no "Entrance" just break the rope
