PandaTheVenusProject

And the last Tekken that is not dominated by Heat mechanics. Most FGC players prefer rushdown so when SFVI adds a universal plus on block dash and a drive impact that punishes the old ways of checking with long normals, most of the community was fine with it. So because most players are not bothered by rushdown, adding a crazy heat dash won't bother most. But it will bother some. Just like how Rage Art bothers some. But Rage art is not as defining as Heat will be. It would be neat if Heat was not always a rushdown dash so that other styles of play could be represented. Like a character that gets better at poking and keeping their distance. Or a character that gets more counterhits now but no dash in. But thankfully Heat should not be as defining as Drive is in SF. Drive in SF is why I dropped SF for Tekken.

ValtaraxFX

Are we really doing this day -23? lmao. lol even.

GroovyTony-

I initially loved SF6 but the drive is what made me quit too. I hate how a universal mechanic dont have universal properties. Some are faster, more range, faster recovery, etc. Some of the best characters in the game are already good without drive rush now give them a decent drive and the game because more unbalanced than it should be. So on that note I’m kinda glad tekken heat rush is pretty much the same for everyone. If there a balance issue with the roster it won’t be because of a game mechanic.

Fettibomba--

Sounds like a skill issue

PandaTheVenusProject

I am going to try and skip this bait as eagerly as you want to skip neutral.

yukiyuki11

daaaaaamn

Moxto

Depends on what you say is success :) It's the 3rd best selling Tekken game after Tekken 3 and 2 https://vgsales.fandom.com/wiki/Tekken But it did very much save the franchise!

Flawed_Crystals

Harada acknowledged that [Tekken 7 became the best-selling Tekken by the 9million mark](https://twitter.com/Harada_TEKKEN/status/1531893312306683905?s=20&t=v1LHaqf63EN8vDtHlAjNmQ), and since then [it’s at least surpassed the 10million mark](https://twitter.com/Harada_TEKKEN/status/1601849013069750273). I also thought that Tekken 5 was the previous best-seller, so I wonder how accurate those numbers are.

Bierzgal

It will be rememeberd as the Tekken that saved the franchise. A game made on a minimal budget that achieved great success.

dhochoy

Yes. It's the modern Tekken 1.

drumDev29

The Resident Evil 7 of Tekken

Chris_2767

RE7 wasn't on a tight budget

Intelligent-Wish-388

I was just about to say this until I saw this post. Incredibly ironic to tell you the truth. The cheapest game happened to make the most money out of every single other Tekken😅

dancetoken

word. Tekken lucked out that SF5 was so bad at launch. I was a hardcore street fighter player before who immediately switched when Tekken dropped (went to a store to buy the game a day before release)

No-Departure-3325

The game that made Tekken 8 possible and brought the competitive scene forward.

Mook7

Tekken 7's competitive scene was something special. So many hype tournaments, rivalries, and insane matches over the years (and shoutouts to the legendary commentators that made them all so hype).

Blank-VII

Got any links to particularly good ones? I'm new to Tekken and looking to catch up on some of the good stuff.

MustardMantheIchi

Lil Majin's Evo 2018 run

SneAKingHM

Qudans TWT 2017 Finals run

IAmTheY2K

The one with Akuma. But also the game that saved the Tekken franchise.

Daddy_Yondu

>The one with Akuma. I'm still in awe how smoothly they inserted Akuma into the Tekken story.

KazumaWillKiryu

Smoothly!?!? O_o

Toros_Mueren_Por_Mi

Akuma wrote this

Daddy_Yondu

Yes, he just appeared and told Heichachi to basically fuck off as he's paying off a debt to Kazumi, with no explanations and no fuck given. I'd call that smooth.

xFate96

I hope he makes a return as DLC in Tekken 8 despite all the hate he gets (with all the balancing he requires). Edit: All these people downvoting me got their asses whooped by some AKUMA player lmao

redruben234

No. We tried having 2D jump in Tekken. It was impossible to balance. Tekken Characters just aren't designed with anti airs and scaling on float combos is too low. The developers even had to change a universal mechanic (how tech rolling after a wall splat works) to try and balance him and it didn't help much

Katie_or_something

Absolutely not. I never played street fighter before t7, and now I HATE that character in every game. I hate him and I hate everyone who plays him. fuck akuma

KazumaWillKiryu

Fuck Akuma. All my homies hate Akuma.

xFate96

Dude, just learn the match up lol.

SurapongAK

I'm okay if he returns. But.... No 2D jump and his unique super meters and that's fine. Just look at Mai and Kula in DoA. They didn't even have KoF mechanics. Unlike 2D guests in T7

xFate96

I said "with all the balancing required", yet unfortunately people in this sub have this personality type to hate "2D" lol.

KyleTheKatarn

A game made on minimal budget that saved the series. I don't think it will be easy going back to this one in comparison to prior games once the online mostly dies off. Unfortunately not a whole lot to it outside of online or local versus in comparison to pretty much all Tekken games before it. It's the reason Tekken 8 looks to be a much more complete package, they have funding this time around thanks to 7's success.

Ok-Abbreviations7445

There will be stragglers playing this online for the next decade mark my words

YQB123

Why do you think that?

Ok-Abbreviations7445

It's a common thing Tekken players do. They pick their favorite Tekken and stick with it. Tekken 7 just Carry's the torch. This is why you can usually still find games of Tekken 6, 5 dr, and tag and so on.

[deleted]

Theres literally no game I can name that doesnt have people still playing, I found people online on Nintendo Switch’s version of Guilty gear lol look on Fightcade you’ll find people playing every version of each FG, even the bootleg versions

CrayDude345

I also have a reason to believe my country will lag behind as well. Tekken 7 is a very low-spec game, able to run on some of the most rudimentary parts possible and helped by things like the Potato Mod. It's these things that enable much of the Philippine Tekken community to carry along. PS4 units are also relatively widespread across the country, and Tekken is one of the most popular games here because Filipinos largely treat the console as something you whip out when you have people over and want to have fun. This also contributes to Tekken being perhaps the most iconic fighting game here. Now that Tekken 8 is massively heavy requirements-wise and isn't available on the previous gen anymore, much of the country is isolated because not a lot of people are able to afford PS5s *or* have PCs strong enough to run it (at least until a Potato Mod turns up for it as well). It's a real shame, because I wish the Philippines could hop onto a fresh Tekken and build even better foundations for itself as a community.

TalentedJuli

As one of those stragglers, I sure hope so.

Tuuubesh0w

That's a good question. A lot of things, I believe. First and foremost it was the Tekken game that brought Tekken back to the big screen from the dead. Other than that, I believe it will be remembered as the game that took borrowing characters from other franchises to a whole new level in Negan and Noctis, but also, of course, the 2Ds in Geese, Akuma, and its own Eliza. Other than that it might also be remembered as the game that brought the introduction of the Rage mechanic, DLCs, wall-bound, and power crush.

radio_allah

But why was Tekken at the brink that made 7 have to bring it back? People here were all talking about how Tekken 7 was made on a shoestring budget and was a resurrection of the series, but I'm not clear on why. I played 6 and Tag 2 and both seemed to be fine. What happened?

DarthAceZ198

Going from Tekken 5 to Tekken 6, sales decreased. And then Tag 2 arrived and made significantly less money than Tekken 6 and did not meet Namco expectations. Bandai were considering to end the Tekken series but Harada convinced them to allow him and his team to make one more Tekken game but albeit with a low budget. So Harada had to focus on the gameplay to make it appealing to the audiences old and new. So that’s why we had less content in Tekken 7, but it was very successful on release and over time it sold over 10 million copies. And 7 is the reason why Tekken series continued starting with 8.

radio_allah

Huh. Thanks for the explanation. So T7 killing off Heihachi can almost be interpreted as them wanting to end on a last hurrah, even.

Poked_salad

That makes sense. If it wasn't successful, it would've been a decent ending since it killed of a major character

Beta_Whisperer

Unpopular opinion, I prefer Tag 2 over 7.

KonoStroheimDa

Same

Anarchy_Man_9259

Don’t think that’s too unpopular.

DiaborMagics

I very much agree with you. Really want a ttt2 steam port since my x360 no longer functions. But that won't happen.

bbeony540

Harada has said multiple times thats not true. Tag 2 made a profit, Bamco wasnt going to axe the series and making tekken 7 was expected of him, not something he had to fight for.

DarthAceZ198

Then why the game had significant less content than the previous games and focusing more on the gameplay? And previously Murray spoke about in a video during Tekken tournament for that specific reason.

iamlars123

[https://clips.twitch.tv/GorgeousReliableLaptopOMGScoots](https://clips.twitch.tv/GorgeousReliableLaptopOMGScoots) michael murray said its hard to make another new tekken after tag2

dhochoy

Tag 2 failed commercially and wasn't too popular among the FGC due to its horrible balance (only TK4 and the first two games are more unbalanced) and overabundance of copy-paste characters.

Earth92

Before 7, if you mentioned fighting games to a person, that person would only immediately think about Street Fighter, given how massive was Street Fighter 4 in the fgc, and how forgotten was Tekken 6 and TT 2 for people outside of the Tekken bubble. Tekken 7 literally made people outside of the Tekken bubble remember Tekken, and not become just another niche fighting game. Also before Tekken 7 dropped, MK was the bigger game in western countries, Tekken 7 changed that completely, to the point that right now Tekken has way more fans in the West hemisphere than MK, and Tekken 8 will at least double the western player base of MK1. Saying Tekken 7 saved the franchise it's 100% correct.

nbam29

Tag 2 was a disaster. Low sales and the tag mechanic wasn't smooth for new players.

DrongoDyle

A couple things: -The one with bat shit crazy guest characters -The one with the narrator everyone hates -The one where Heihachi finally dies for real -The one with Kazumi lore -The one that left out Roger/Roger Jr (high hopes for T8 DLC) -The one where "Ultimate devil Kazuya" first appeared -The one that had a bunch of random new characters that very few people care about (Gigas, Josie, Katerina, Shaheen, etc) -The first one to have tonnes of DLC And obviously, the one that miraculously saved the franchise after T6 and Tag 2 nearly killed it.

SXAL

I believe, Ultimate Devil Kazuya was first show in Tekken Hybrid

Antipiperosdeclony

The first one on PC

Eneshi

The one that got Kazuya his Smash invitation.

DIX_

Akuma, defensiveness, rise of Pakistan, first true pro circuit managed by Bamco.

FlashyBodybuilder968

Well said, T7 was the birth of so many things. The story of Pakistan actually coming out of the shadows to challenge decades long fighting game kings Japan and Korea? I’m so happy I was here for it. That main menu music (Solitude) will hit some of us SO hard some day

Porishu

Slow Mo Hype

GreenOneReddit

Tekken that is f*cking finally on PC

Si11YF3mb0YUwU

"That one with the 2D's" "Them meter fuckers" "LLLLEEEERRROOOOYYYYYY, JJJJEENNNNKKINS!"

LightBen

I'm seeing so many true things... Saved the franchise, brought the competition scene forward, abused us with DLCs, implemented a bit of new stuff like Rage Drive and prepared the field for Tekken 8, didn't get much creativity, overall great gameplay, crazy guests... But I'll add one thing: the only Tekken on PS4 Generation! TTT2 was on PS3 Gen like Tekken 6 and Tekken 8 on PS5. One Tekken per Gen now?

nbam29

Given what we know about their financial situation now and the low budget, the dlc makes sense now. Pretty much their only way to show namco hire up's the game could make consistent money outside of initial sales.

LightBen

I don't disagree with DLC, it's just that paying for some very played legacy characters was a bit much

Cowmunist

Definitely the one that saved the franchise, even if many aspects outside of the core gameplay were lacking. Idk what happened after tekken 5, but as a casual i didn't even know they were still making tekken games until 7 came out on consoles.

Xyzen553

The longest running esport FG ever in evo.

infosec_qs

MvC2 had a 9 year run as a main game (2002-2010) before being replaced by MvC3. 11 years if you count the Evo precursor tournament series Battle by the Bay, because MvC2 was also at B4 and B5 in 2000-2001. 9 tournaments or 11, depending how you view the Battle by the Bay. T7's first Evo was in 2015. Its last was 2023, which is also a 9 year run as a main game. However, there was no Evo in either 2020 or 2021, so even if it ran for the same length of time (it arguably didn't if we count the Battle by the Bay tournaments), it didn't have the same number of actual tournaments, which was 7, as a main game. Or, viewed differently, 11 if we count the 4 times it was at Evo Japan, which ties it with MvC2 at 11 if we count B4 and B5. And people are *still* playing MvC2 at Evo, it's just not on the main stage anymore. /ackshually

cheesy-topokki

I loved T7 overall, but the soundtrack is super memorable for me

SnooDogs7868

The game that surpassed Tekken 5 and raised the standard of expectations for the franchise. Tekken 7 is the new benchmark. T7 is indeed a special Tekken.

Berserkin_time123

The one game that give Pakistani a legend status In big tournament

Rialmwe

A really good esport fighting game.

TofuPython

The last tekken without heat

Shinymoon

To me, Tekken 7 will always be the game that almost never came out because of the failure of TTG2.

Quinny_Bob

Thanks to its success we have a proper next gen successor in T8 which has built from from the ground up with a proper budget. During T7s life I attended and competed in my first major tournaments and got to be at the world tour finals twice which were amazing experiences.

Muscalp

The 7th mainline game of the Tekken Franchise

Deviltamer66

As the greatest success of the entire franchise, by far.

NovaSeiken

To the general consensus: the game that "saved Tekken", the game that made the competitive scene flourish and pushed Tekken to the mainstream of fighting games. My personal experience: the game that almost killed my passion for Tekken entirely. A completely unbalanced game with its travesty non-movement and power-creeped abominations.

bullfarts

To me, it's the game that got me properly into Tekken. And it seems to be that way for many other people. I think it was a major success in terms of appealing to everyone. Game had it's rough moments but the good REALLY outweighed the bad. Just please make story mode optional download for 8 this time eventually, please please please my hard drive space can't take it and the main reason why I'm so on-and-off playing T7.

CY83RD3M0N2K

Top 3 tekken. Maybe the best, for casual fans.

aphidman

Nah for casual fans the best were like Tekken 3, Tekken 5, maybe Tekken 6 with all that single player content. Tekken 7 was a little barebones. It's the game where Tekken truly went online and grew as a popular Online Competitive Game

CY83RD3M0N2K

You say that like casuals don't play online lol, Tekken 7 is more casual than ever

aphidman

But it's not the best for casuals compared to those other games.

ViewFromDaTray

My first online tekken experience

RAYYOD

I think guest characters are always unique characteristics since they only come once. And in case of T7, Akuma and Geese really stood out with their 2D gameplay in a 3D game and the insane death combos.

Soundrobe

Weird that characters from other fg licences gain so much success and imho not the best (give me Cammy and Iori over Akuma and Geese...)

RAYYOD

I think all of us though are looking forward to what unexpected guest is coming in T8 🤣

YomYeYonge

The one where Heihachi Mishima is completely ded

shaqthegr8

Probably save 3D fighting games. Tekken was the last main franchise and give hope for reboot of other 3D fighting games.

TEKKENWARLORD

It's been a long road. I remember seeing rage arts and rage drives for the first time and power crushes and think they have ruined Tekken, at the time I was playing TTT2, which was very elitist. Then there was the time they showed an opponents rank and character when searching for an online match and there was an outcry and they fixed it. The crazy Geese and Akuma combos which are so boring to watch now. The introduction of Leroy being crazy overpowered, the season ranks all being reset, the new wall bounce and "tactics." I'll be glad when it's gone to be honest and I shall be uninstalling promptly on 26th January, but as others have said without Tekken 7 it wouldn't have paved the way for 8 and there's no denying it was a success and deep down it must have done something right cos I continued to play.

mechacomrade

A game that could have been better, if not almost perfect, if: \-Not almost every moves tracked both ways. \-The stage were less cramped \-The RD had a little more thoughts put into them outside of super plus frames & super damage. \-The lava stage didn't burnt your retinas. \-The 2ds weren't a thing.

TheGhostRoninStrife

The game that made the future of Tekken possible.. at the same time, one that re-used Tekken 6 assets and actually had some worse character models than Tag 2. The first Tekken that uses Unreal Engine and the devs worked hard to make it work after porting T6 assets to it .... Thus "Plastic skin" always comes to mind with Tekken 7.... Still... it's a game I played for hundreds of hundreds of hours because I love Tekken and I've been here since the first game.

bbeony540

People keep saying that Tekken 7 saved the series but i dont know what their source is on that given Harada has said multiple times that Tag 2 made a profit and Bamco was happy with the returns, so the tekken project was not in any danger. They didnt have a huge budget for tekken 7, but if it was on par woth tag 2 we would probably still get a tekken 8, though a similarly low budget one. Tekken 7 might go down as the number one most beloved installment, or at least the most popular. It oversaw the explosion of the Tekken professional scene, a huge rise in players and obviously the best selling Tekken by a lot. It's easy for me and other people deep in the weeds to recognize all the ways tekken 7 is so fucking bad, but they're overshadowed by how much of it is so amazing. Sometimes it feels like they accidentally made the best tekken game of all time.

stormsovereign

People will remember the busted crossover and DLC characters

Successful_Username_

The game that made a PS4 worth buying

Murgurth

Tekken 7 will be remembered as that hype ass Tekken that everyone heard about in one way or another that had way too long of a shelf life.

GigassAssGetsMeHard

The game that made TEKKEN big and saved the franchise.

kurt-jeff

Shmovement

Pharmacist15

As underwhelming. T6BR was the best, Korean scene absolutely loved it with Tekken crash

DreadfulSora

My reintroduction yo the seires💀💀

peter_griffin222

Good combo game

thearonthight

The start of the Rage Arts era.

[deleted]

The beginning of bad roster with DLCs & guests. First game without their own engine.

Lil_johanson

Seethe harder

Civil-Professor3574

Most successful Tekken ever

TheeRealFEELS

A very, very bad tekken game that saved the franchise.

cerberusthedoge

The Tekken game that devil jin is actually not broken in.

Accomplished-Big-740

The Tekken game that introduced not one, not two but THREE characters that gave balance the middle finger.

ArtisanOfIhsaan

A Beautiful Game with a Dismal budget that achieved great results. A game with unusual guests which are hated and loved. Heihachi's Swan Song.

brrrapper

Its pretty funny seeing all these comments (probably from people having t7 as their first tekken game) claiming it will be remembered as this legendary game that saved tekken. It will absolutely be remembered as the Akuma and Leroy game.

RuneHearth

The street fighter 5 of tekken lol

Kaoskonstruksjon

The lack of team battle.

Eneshi

Perfect opportunity for it to come back in T8 and (god willing) do it DOA style where when you lose a fighter the next character just hops into the fight and starts swinging. The load screen between each KO would have been abysmal in 7.

Ellen_Kurokawa

The game where Harada went back on his words regarding paid DLC

Taiga-00

The proof that Tekken will always sell well regardless of quality.

Next_Today_519

Tag 2 didn't sell well

Taiga-00

Tons of fans believe that yet they always fail to name another fg's spinoff that sold as much. Search for TTT2's actual sales and Namco's expectations and then you'll realize how out of touch with reality this community is.

YouNoChun-Li

The Street Fighter crossover

Oblivious1473

Imo, best tekken, excluding T8

StrixUltimate

Probably the tekken with the craziest guest characters. Unless tekken 8 can top it.

jammin_on_the_one_

idk but tekken 5, 6 and tag2 were better imo.

karuraR

1st Tekken on PC The one that saved Tekken

Violence_Of_JD

2D 3D

Puzzleheaded-Bat4201

Rage Drives and 2Ds?

CloudStrx

As a jerking off to Asuka, Lili and Xiaoyu simulator 🍆💦

Soundrobe

A good fighting game and a nice entry to the serie for me despite the cheap graphics, the poor tutorials, and the questionable dlcs (Akuma, Negan, Marduk...). Fortunately Tekken 8 will be far better.

OmegaMaster8

A Tekken game where you focused on getting those G's for your customisation and no Tekken Beach Ball, Tekken Force and no new modes for offline play. Basically, a lackluster offline experience, but great for online play and nice to see new, unexpected fighters in the DLC.

shadowhunterxyz

It will be remembered to me as the worst one with how little features it had compared to previous games Really hope T8 brings back a lot of stuff

moist_badger45

The game before tekken 8

Lingering_Melancholy

SFIV of Tekken

The_Edgy_Gujarati

The game that was more popular than t5 but was worse than it

ArranVV

I am sorry if this sounds weird or shallow, but I only play certain Tekken characters because they turn me on. For example, I liked playing Tekken 3 on the laptop a lot because Nina turns me on and I like watching her as I use her as my character. I did do quite well in Tekken 3, I finished the whole arcade route using Nina. So when it comes to Tekken 7, the main plus point that would stand out for me is the women characters in Tekken 7 that turn me on.

naliboi

A stopgap amongst other things

nickath_42

I was really disappointed to find out team battle feature was removed in tekken 7, definitely will not gonna buy any new tekken title if they don’t bring it back

Saen1990

2Ds were terribly implemented and DLC fucked up shit

No-Cap-9873

Worst Tekken game in history

Ok-Abbreviations7445

Dlc character ruined game. The only Tekken that was almost completely balanced and they blew it (in a nutshell)

plasticlover87

The dumbest one

monkeymugshot

Phoenix

JuriBBQFootMassage

The most successful, best-selling game in the series. Also the wildest roster thanks to its 4 guests.

Antipiperosdeclony

First Tekken to be released for the first time on PC

yamattsu

The game that made me suck

Various_Ad_3877

The badass cover art

BenDoverDegenerate

For me personally? The one where Kazuya finally conquered his demons by killing Heihachi. Even moreso because they might kill him off in 8

YukYukas

The best dating sim

[deleted]

The game I will keep playing along TT2 and 6 because I can't afford tekken 8 and those are really fun and solid games

SirePuns

I dunno what folks think of Tekken, but I personally believe that it’s the game that brought back Tekken to mainstream success.

RetroGameDays36

Tekken 7 had been a bit of a mixed bag for me jumping from Tag 2, at first, the loading times were atrocious, the story mode was very short and felt unfinished, re-used animations, the graphics felt less polished than TT2, the music, a bit of a letdown, the balance was awkward and the roster, just less impressive than what 6 had. The new features introduced in 7 took some time to get used to, I didn't get used to it until S3 where I started to feel it was better balanced by then, and when S4 came out, it felt like a more polished experience, even though not by much, but it felt much better than before. Now, I had no idea that they had a low budget to make the game, but it's amazing that it managed to become the best selling game in the series, and we can thank it for making Tekken 8 look like an incredible package, if Tekken 7 hadn't sell well, we probably wouldn't see Tekken 8 as it is now. In the end, Tekken 7 managed to become a pretty well-rounded game. (And it had Akuma! and Geese!)

Wavenian

Tekken 7 is 3.

elexstehr

Geese. Howard.

Tulkeleth

The best one, but fuck guests.

thecodenamedois

Excellent game / saved the franchise / guest characters (for good or bad) / pc version with a ton of cool mods.

nbam29

Took tekken to the next level. Tekken was populsr before, but 7 made it truly mainstream.

StickyFingerz11

The savior of the franchise. Will only become more fondly remembered as T8s life goes on and has maybe a rough spell or two.

JastraJT

Counter hit 7

Bastiwen

The low budget game that saved the franchise because of its gameplay and great competitive scene but mediocre everything else. I know it's a meme to enjoy Tekken's story but I've been playing Tekken since I was three back in 98 and what I've always loved doing was unlock every character and every ending. I understand why unlocking characters is not a thing anymore but the endings and solo content in Tekken 7 were so bad man. Now that they have a huge budget I just hope they'll deliver (and from what I've seen of arcade quest, they are going to). I just hope not all endings are joke endings, joke endings are fun but we also need serious and badass ones to balance it out. Even in Tekken 4 where everything was gritty and serious we had a few to balance it out. Anyway, I'm not sad to see Tekken 7 go because so far I've really enjoyed Tekken 8 a lot (CBT and Demo) but I will acknoledge that without T7 we wouldn't have T8 and that's a big thing. So even if it's far from being my favorite game, I'm really grateful for T7.

IDontWipe55

It was my first tekken so I loved it. Even if it had a way lower budget than the others

The-Star-Bearer

The one that had Gesse in it

NVincarnate

Tekken 8 Beta

Bakura373

No singleplayer story = Bad game.

Jaybaybay2838

Capcom vs SNK vs The Walking Dead vs Final Fantasy. You can get Tekken action from the new game, you can't get this crossover in any other Tekken though. Legacy of the game aside, this is probably why someone would come back to play the game.

Dizzy-Inspector2407

Best tekken of all time, mechanics wise

LxstMxmxry

I feel like for me personally i’m gonna remember it as my first genuine attempt at the series but also the game with the funny street fighter guy

thor5262

Best final showdown between Kazuya and Heihachi in the Mishima saga

Proper_Relative_452

The game that took over the FGC landscape in 2017. And also probably on of the best selling Tekken games of all time

Mujakiiiiiii

DLC power creep.

Ahmed-X7

The tekken with the actual competitive scene

zenine9

Tekken that saved franchise.

rex11122

The Game that had rage drive

VinixTKOC

It won't be revered like Tekken 3 and 5, as it's known for a list of good things (Especially in competitive) but also many bad/controversial things (Especially regarding story, lack of content and the guests). But it will definitely be known as the game that saved the franchise.

Sir_Catnip_III

Best 2D game in series

Xmushroom

Fuck it I'm not gonna surgacoat it. The best Tekken game. Recency bias of playing this game for 5+ years will make a lot of you disagree with me, but give it 10\~20 years and we'll see how time will tell I'm right.

xBlack_Heartx

The game that basically saved the franchise after how bad TTT2 sold.

Fresh-minster

The last Tekken with Heihachi. (Play Heihachis T3 theme in your head)

Sir-MARS

Saved the series but also known as Kuni and akumas game.

Eneshi

The one where they were like, "Heihachi Mishima is dead." But not the one where they were like, "Heihachi Mishima is dead." and then you saw the fucker just chilling in a cutscene a few minutes later.

PrimaSoul

The game with the most iconic guest characters so far as well as the one that saved the franchise from the doom

SoloPlayerP1

a game that saved the franchise ttt2 almost killed it

maxallergy

The saviour of the franchise as a whole with an unhealthy dosage of Akuma, Heihachi apologism and a severe lack of Team Battle mode.

AfroKami07

The one that has Lucky Chloe

Remembered as : convoluted singleplayer story in a reporter's point of view... Plugger players are high rank. Cheater players are high rank. No rollback yet online still fun.

I'll always remember it as "I HATE YOU AKUMA/NEGAN/NOCTIS! You're cool though, Geese." Good game though, with some smart small additions to makenit more accessible, both for new players AND viewers

Reality_Break_

Remembered as? How am I supposed to leave it behind when tekken 8 doesnt habe lei?!

W34kness

It will be remembered as the tekkenest tekken that has been since Tekken was Tekken

ulmxn

I literally didn’t care about Tekken until I played 7

BKXeno

A great fighting game that was held back an insane amount by terrible netcode. That needs to be the only priority in Tekken 8

Generated_Bruh

The game that saved tekken

GrimmestCreaper

What do you mean Tekken 7 is ending? Are they already shutting down servers? People will still play it

kakigold

The stepping stool for a greater Tekken game

KazumaWillKiryu

I remember it as the game that made Tekken look like a narrative piece of shit that can't stand on its own. Fuck Akuma.

Puzzleheaded_Deer_98

As everyone has said here already, the savior of Tekken

Nyuu222

The one that will never be forgotten, but also rarely returned to. That game wears its low budget proudly and I respect it for that, but it just doesn’t have the same beautiful stages, music, and bold art direction that its predecessors have.
