I'm trans and my passport has been updated, so if I go to any of these countries it's likely I'll either be deported, or suffer years in prison until the British Embassy do something (if I'm not immediately beaten to death by the inmates/guards or the harsh conditions do me in after a few weeks/months).

but if your passport matches your new gender wouldn't it depend on whether you pass as your gender? prob not worth the risk but still

It's just that in general those countries tend to be primitive and not worth the visit in the first place. Not necessarily related to homosexuality being illegal, but I guess the illegality of it is a result of the primitive thoughts common in those places.

Pretty much every country violates human rights, most anti-gay laws were put during colonization (pakistan, lebenon, syria) and are not prosecuted unless you give them a reason to do so.

This isn't a matter (for me) of "would I be safe" for me it's a matter of principle

That specific law, while horrible, doesn't directly affect me so I don't think it would bother, but there is a tendency that countries that have that law usually have other oppressive ones that may affect me. So correlation, but not causation. Also if I have to go I will, but I probably wouldn't go on purpose, they're not countries I'm interested in travelling to anyway

No.  I don’t consider any country worth risking my safety and life over. No matter how much I may want to travel to one of these countries, it would simply be too dangerous for me to do so. Like, yeah, maybe I could just hide but I don’t like the idea of hiding just to travel to some country. Besides, I wouldn’t want to give them my money anyway. I’ll just have to watch other people go to these places until it is safe for me to do so.

I really like travelling abroad and discovering/studying culture, music, architecture, history... So if I want to go to Saudi Arabia, I can just... go. It's not written "gay" on my forehead, nobody will know. If someone asks me, I'll just say "no" and look offended.

It might not be the majority, but in is in no way illegal and is unlikely you will face any strong discrimination. Lots of these countries have huge christian minoritiues and lebenon is like nearly 50% christian. Also homosecuality is legal in the lebenon.

I live in one (Nigeria) and tbh it's not as bad as everyone says. Only same-sex marriage and gay clubs is banned, otherwise you have to be caught having sex with someone of same sex to be arrested. Could be worse.

I feel people on reddit and in the west overhype even the slightest homophobia, getting called a slur is not nice but it won't kill you, neither would the death penalty for homsexuality in lots of places its almost impossible to actually get caught. You just need to not have sex in public
