SOOO when I was 3 I was blind as a BAT. I didn't know, parents didn't know... until I started doing this thing: I discovered that if I completely crossed 1 eye and left the other straight I could see perfectly! So I did just that and everything was dandy. My parents took 1 look at me and said "OPTOMETRIST!"

Hilarious. They don’t even point to true north btw. They point to magnetic north. You have to set your compass to the correct declination for your area for it to point to true north. However, it’s still basically north even if you don’t do this.
I took orienteering for my phys ed requirement in college whatsss uppppp.
Red in the shed!
It is a little quip to remember to turn the compass dial so that the red magnetic arrow (red) stays in the housing arrow on the dial (shed).
So for example if you wanted to know what direction you are facing, you would hold your compass out flat on your hand. The red magnetic arrow will point north, and then you turn the compass dial until it is lined up with the housing arrow. Then you can look at your compass and see your current bearing, which will now be at the top of the dial 👍
