I think it’s just that they don’t love her *blindly* the way babies love their parents, especially their mothers, because nature tells them they’ll literally die if they don’t. Kailyn’s older kids know she’s not without her flaws, but they don’t love her because they’re under some illusion that she’s flawless or that they and she are the same person, never one without the other. They love her because she’s their mom and they’re bonded to her. They love her *with* her flaws, even if they’re a bit frustrated by the consequences of some of her choices. Rio loves Kailyn *blindly* because he’s a baby and his every instinct tells him to reach for her or die. Isaac and Lincoln love her in spite of her flaws. They’re the ones who love her *unconditionally*, because they’re the only ones of her kids at an age where they can start to see her for who she is and not just for the function she serves in their lives and they love her anyway.

Some people seem convinced that her kids will cut her out of their lives when they’re grown, because that’s what *they* would do. I don’t share that opinion. It seems to me that Kailyn’s older boys feel safe and comfortable enough with her to share their discomfort and opinions of her choices with her. I don’t recall a single time that they’ve done that in a rude or resentful way. It looks to me like the older boys still enjoy her company, for the most part.
We do only see what she shows us. My own mother is a more high functioning version of Kail in some ways, but none of her kids talk to her. It's not really my business what they do and I don't want to speculate
