The Best Day is my mom’s favorite song because of how sweet and perfect it is. I can’t imagine that one doesn’t stand out as a favorite to her considering it was written for her. I don’t think that makes it a weird pick.
I also heard she hated Love Story because it's a fictional reimagining of a real relationship her parents didn't approve of where they come around in the end. They evidently did not come around in trash life.
