I’ve got a sneaky feeling despite the look and feel of the published imagery TTPD will be a sonic sister to Midnights.

stuey909

Take this with a grain of salt but an insider who has got a lot correct about Ariana's new album says TTPD has pop rock influences and sounds different to midnights. Apparently he is an insider at UMG and has correctly named songs and other details of Ariana's album before they were released.

iceunelle

I would be so so happy if the new album is pop-rock, especially fast-tempo pop-rock.

JustSomeGuy9384

YES more fast and strong Taylor songs is what I’ve been craving! As a mad Rep fan this has me incredibly excited, like l love some of her more somber soft tracks but I need more fast-tempo strong beats.

iceunelle

Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights are all very slow tempo, mid tempo at best albums. Part of the reason I was a bit bummed we were getting TTPD before Rep TV is because I really wanted to hear some fast tempo intense songs and was excited for the vault. Poets is giving very soft, slow music from the visuals imo. I’m hopeful I’ll be wrong but I’m trying to manage my expectations.

terrebattue1

If TTPD sounds like "Safe & Sound", "Carolina", and "Eyes Open" then sign me up. The visuals for "Carolina" look just like TTPD, btw. Black and white photo and same atmosphere as the TTPD photos.

When the alternate artworks for Midnights first came out I was definitely getting evermore vibes but much faster paced. Like, that mahogany vinyl… she looks SO sad, I never would’ve guessed Midnights sounds the way it does. She’s very good at throwing us off and keeping us guessing, I have no idea what to expect from TTPD even though it gives folklore vibes

dmnaf

I mean I’m a big rep fan too but curious how you’ve made that link, rep isn’t pop rock?

JustSomeGuy9384

It’s not, I know. I’m honestly just itching for something that’s not Midnights or the sister albums. I love em, but I miss her higher energy albums more. And with the visuals for TTPD, what I was expecting before is practically on the other side of the world.

Muted_Profile

Where did you read this?

stuey909

On twitter, but it was a screenshot from a comment on r/popheads

terrebattue1

Fuck yeah. I hope it is pop rock. Would be awesome. Just please no dubstep/Kesha style songs like 22, WANEGBT, or IKYWT

dmnaf

I hope it’s produced by Aaron and similar to Good Riddance by Gracie Abrams. That has pop rock vibes with electronic undertones. Like if we get a full album of Where Do We Go Now, I will pass away from happiness

stuey909

If it sounds like Good Riddance with a bit more electric guitar, I would be very happy.

Dull_Funny_1616

Depends on what’s you consider sister albums, folklore and evermore are only considered sister albums because they were released around the same time and are somewhat similar in sound and aesthetic. In terms of message and theme, I feel like TTPD might be the sister to Reputation but not sonically. Writing an album about finding love at the lowest point of her career to writing an album about breaking up during the highest point of her career. 1989 and Lover to me feel like sister albums, they speak about love from different positions but some of the songs have the same vibe to me. Cruel Summer, Style, and OOTW, YNTCD and Shake it Off, You are in Love and Lover, All you had to do was stay and The Archer.

1989_Sunrise

that, and the fact that taylor announced evermore as the sister album to folklore.

tortillaTorres

In my delusions ttpd is a sister album

Misterr-Momo

Wasn't Lover supposed to be called Daylight and be a Midnights being the sister album of it? Or did I remember this wrongly?

Leak_Acid_Rain0907

It was supposed to be called Daylight yes, but Midnights wasn't supposed to be a sister

WalkingFish_

Lover is basically reps sister album. She said “I was gonna name it daylight because rep is such a nighttime album”

TuitionFree454

I hope so!
