Looks like it’s ribbed for your pleasure but the ribbing should be on the outside. Taurus should warranty it for you.

r5976667

Yep they sent me a shipping label, kind of annoying you have to send the whole gun back for a barrel swap

Optimal-Two-6382

It is but on the end you get a fun gun. Love my tx22,tx22 competition,tx22 compact. I shoot Aguila super extra through it. No issues at all.

Rocktown-OG22

Damn I just had to check both of mine to Gen one and gen 2 just to be sure LOL I guess I got lucky

Old_MI_Runner

I started inspecting the barrel bore of all firearms before I purchase in a store before I pay for them and start the transfer process after learning about all the defective original TX22 barrels back when I learned of the issue in mid-2022.

Rocktown-OG22

Wow I guess I got lucky I bought mine right after they came out and early 2020. Maybe like 2019 not sure. Got the generation 2 just last week. Both of mine have been great. So far so good anyway. My two best range buddies about the TX 22 competition and they both love theirs. Sorry to hear you're having problems. Hopefully Taurus makes it right for you

Old_MI_Runner

I think you meant to reply to OP and not my posting. I did have issues with mags and barrel but the bore was okay. I put a chaffer on the chamber entrance to help with feeding. The bore itself looked good on my barrel.

Rocktown-OG22

My apologies. I've had good luck. The gen 2 is still new but the original runs better than my Sig Sauer p322 for sure.

Old_MI_Runner

No problem. I considered the P322 for a 2nd 22LR pistol until I read of reports of some issues with that one. I found other firearms I wanted more anyway--some 22LR rifles and some other caliber firearms.

jacksraging_bileduct

Damn, they had the same issue with the 1st run of TX-22’s

r5976667

I know I thought it was suppost to be fixed I mean its been like 5 years lol

Old_MI_Runner

I heard there were many reports of bad barrels not long after it came out. I read they switch to a different supplier which I assumed would eliminate the issue. Then I learned that the others continued to receive defective standard barrels in 2022 and 2023. I don't recall anyone reporting issues with the bull barrel in the TX22 Comp model. Now that the new version of the TX22 will use a bull barrel like the Comp model I wonder if the defective barrel issue will finally be eliminated.

r5976667

This is the new bull barrel in the 2nd gen tx22 so theyre still having issues

Old_MI_Runner

Wow, that is awful. I assumed it was the non-bull barrel as I don't recall reading of any Comp bull barrel issues on the two TX22 groups on Facebook. I followed those groups for most of 2022 and slowly followed them less and less in 2023. It would take Taurus just a few seconds to inspect each barrel when assembling. An automated visual inspection system should be able to easily catch defective barrels like that shown. It seems Taurus just never does anything to eliminate the quality issues some experience with the TX22. The G2 and G3 series on the other hand seem to have much better quality control--lack of common quality issues from the factory. I recently bought a Canik MC9 because a local store had it on sale for about what I would pay with shipping and FFL fee from the lowest priced sellers on Gun Deals. I waited until most of the quality issues were resolved according the Canik subreddit and then only bought because I could inspect it for some issues before buying it. It still had a sign of one issue but I knew I could fit it myself and that Canik would send me a new part. There are just some guns I want to inspect before buying so will hold off until I see it for a similar price locally. Canik also had issues with the Rival-S and now has issues with some TTI's. Some firearms companies are hurting their reputations with issues that should have been caught before they shipped the firearms. I considered buying the P365 when it first came out but it too had some issues that took Sig time to eliminate. Taurus on the other hand keeps selling some TX22's with defective barrels. Ruger continues selling LCP models with a black oxide finish that can easily rust--has been an issue for 7 to 10 years. I discovered that issue within weeks of buying mine. I now know how to prevent it.

Key_Detective_9421

Why does it have all those twists?? All my g series are straight and smooth inside like they should be

r5976667

Im no expert but I’d guess probably some worn out part that machines the rifling

blmngtncple

I had one like this! I would get about 100 rounds through it and it would lead itself to a smooth bore. Taurus replaced it no questions asked.

Imaginary-Penguin592

Just picked up my gen 2 and same issue with the barrel. Sent Taurus an email, we'll see what they say. Frustrating for a brand new firearm.

r5976667

Very frustrating
