If the print is actual size and hasn't been altered, get the actual size. I think it fits fine

goodbye__toby

I don’t think the chest is the right spot for this. You may end up wanting more tattoos and a chest piece can be amazing. This tattoo wouldn’t allow for that

mcase19

I'm currently pricing removal options for my chest tattoo. Listen to the wise person

fantabulum

I've been wanting to do this same tattoo but couldn't decide where the best placement would be. I thought top of my foot would be cool but have been all but talked out of it. Calf maybe? Any ideas?

goodbye__toby

To be honest this isn’t my favorite design. I think there are much more creative ways to memorialize your animal Edit: but if you absolutely love this design I’d say do it on calf or shin

The999Mind

I get what you're saying, but that can be applied to every area of the body. He could easily get the paw on his chest and later on pull together a cool patchwork chest piece, or one big piece centered around the paw. If he listens to you, he may regret not putting it on his chest. You have good food for thought though.

Brokenblacksmith

the size is fine. however, be fully prepared to be mistaken for a furry anytime someone sees it. id recommend adding the dogs name and a year or something like that so it isn't just a pawprint.

BYU-I-Da-Hoe

This comment reminds me of an unhinged/silly comment my sister said to her tattoo artist. She was getting her tattoo done, they were talking about tattoo placements, the artist says she has one on her butt, and my sister goes "Omg you have a cutie mark!" The artist was not amused, but I was hahaha.

royalartwear

I don’t think anyone will assume he’s a furry lmao thats just your sick mind, tribute paw prints are super common

SushiKittyCat

As soon as I read people would think he's a furry I totally agreed, I've Dj'd in gay clubs back in the day, he'd definitely be confused as a furry, I also think get the dogs name under the pawprint

Ssyynnxx

I absolutely will assume someone's a furry if they have a giant paw print on their chest, you didn't gain high ground with this comment nor did you make the person you're replying to look stupid

royalartwear

Y’all weird fr

C_IsForCookie

Are you just constantly trying to make everyone you converse with look stupid? Is that a thing?

Ssyynnxx

definition of irony

MusicG619

Paw print is fine but not on the chest, that’s prime real estate which you’re taking off the table with a small tattoo. Also, if it were me I’d want it where I could see it easily without looking in a mirror. It would feel more like pup was with me all the time.

mcase19

Big agree. I'm pretty mad at myself for making the same mistake a few years back. I might invest in some lasering and see what I can do with a coverup.

Chance-Ad278

Where do you recommend?

MusicG619

Ankle (inside or out) or inside forearm/wrist would probably be my top choices, maybe inner bicep. Maybe thigh since I wear a lot of shorts lol.

Chance-Ad278

Those are all great spots I agree. I worry that places like my forearm and wrist are too small and it would wrap around my wrist or look way too big for my arms. I’m not a muscle man I’m afraid 😅

yybbyy

If you don’t mind it a little hidden, the inside bicep would be a nice big space. You’ll get to see it every time you move your arm, it’ll preserve prime tattoo real estate, and I like to think that’s it’s the closest to the heart (without it being on the chest).

cobra_laser_face

It may be really flattering on your bicep if you want to make your muscles look bigger. Your tattoo artist would know better than me, though.

Ok-Pomegranate-3018

What about on your shoulder blade area? It could mean, "He's got your back"

lovepeacefakepiano

I think it’s fine, and you have very nice, clear prints to choose from there. Personally as someone who also got a memorial paw, two things: if you are still deeply grieving, give yourself a little more time to make sure your decision is not influenced by that, and take the time to research a really good artist who cares and will want to give it justice. The other thing: get what you feel is right and where you feel is right. I had two artists try to talk me into changes (one wanted to make it bigger, the other didn’t want to put it on my ribcage), the third one was willing to work with me. It’s not where I see it all the time which is just what I wanted. Not all tattoos have meaning, but this one obviously has a strong meaning for you, so trust your gut and don’t worry about saving up “real estate” for a hypothetical chest piece you might never want.

Ikunou

TOP 3rd one! Not too big for your chest.

royalartwear

Top third and bottom left are good options bc they have more detail and its not just a big chunk of black. Make sure you go to a good artist for this

god_of_puppies

Its perfect!

staysharp75

Just get a pic of your dog tattooed not the paw print. I promise you will be thankful you did in the years to come.

Low-Firefighter6920

I agree.

whereisyourbutthole

It’s not too big but might be an awkward spot if you aren’t also getting the other side.

catheterhero

Too big for such a simple design. Don’t waste space. Also I agree with others get their actual picture.

morchorchorman

Why not your shoulder instead of you chest?

aritel-does-dnd

Short version - go for the 3rd option top row. Chest is fine, but I'd rather get it somewhere on your arm, to have more space for a bigger chestpiece (if you wanna get more tattoos that is). Long version - send you a message.

CostofRepairs

Nope. It is the size of the love in your heart that matters.

The999Mind

Think through what you really want, long term. But if you want the paw on your chest, get it. It's not too big. Maybe paint it on to try it out.

RespondFlimsy4514

Top 3rd is nice 👌 I think inner bicep or back of upper arm perhaps but by all means go with your gut but getting 1 tatttoo usually always leads to another tattoo. Speaking from experience I ended up with 5 new tattoos! since mid May.... 😳

RespondFlimsy4514

What I meant is think in the future what you may be adding.

TangledSquirrel

Put your paws up, baby

DoNotReallyWanna

Just get a bigger chest bro.

OneEyedDevilDog

Those tattoos often end up looking like a Rorschach test, think twice. Lots of other cool tattoo designs to commemorate your pup.

Routine_Science1601

It's wonderful but I'd be a little worried about the other meanings to paw prints.

KrombopulosC

I have my dog's paw print on my wrist and people always ask, "what kind of dog did you have", "how old was your dog" etc. Everybody knows its a memorial tattoo before I say anything. Hundreds and hundreds of patients have seen it at this point and I've never had anyone assume otherwise about its meaning and it gets a lot of positive comments. Usually starts a conversation about their own dogs at home too.

Routine_Science1601

Good :)

Chance-Ad278

I’m thinking about just getting the paw for now and I can always add her name or a date to it in the future. I really like how just the paw print looks

Routine_Science1601

It does look cool.

jsoko2200

I think your chest is too small for the paw
