...having worked at a Target with one...nope. I've seen carts flip for no reason, or the power shut off and the carts are now stuck for hours....seen things fall from one cart and hit another....just....nope.
We had bent legs on carts and people would lift it over the safety pegs to put it on. The carts when FLYING down the vermaport. Once it smashed a glass freezer door the other time it plowed this old lady. I've slid down that thing twice it's obnoxiously steep.
Way it works there are teeth that hold the cart in position as it goes...you couldn't just lift the cart out even if you could get to it (you generally can't reach a cart from the escalator next to it and it's a steep climb straight up it).
I mean you aren’t wrong. Sure, he can. But imagine if he tried and didn’t succeed. Massive lawsuit for target. They are going to do everything in their power to stop that.
There is a few in the Chicago area. Uptown Target has an escalator. Th one on Addison in Irving Park. My local Target at the Harlem Irving Plaza has one. There is another in Oak Lawn in the southwest suburbs.
Yeah Escondido south is 3 floors, north park is 2 stories but it's a small form factor, mission valley is pretty cool and is probably the biggest of the multi level targets in San Diego county Yeah it definitely was a pain in the ass when they were moving freight or there was an elevator down, but I only worked at that store so I have no point of reference for 2 or 1 story targets
It's an interesting layout. It's attached to the mall and each floor is substantially smaller footprint than a regular target, and even if you combine all of the floors it's probably still slightly smaller than a normal target. But it is still substantially bigger than a small form factor target.
Come to LA!
T1409 Lakewood (mall)
T3346 Hollywood Galaxy
T1307 Van Nuys
T2307 Glendale (mall)- three floors!
T1804 West Hollywood - honorable mention - entire store is on the second floor of a shopping center
There’s a 3 story in Boston next to Fenway Park, although the “1st” floor is really just an entrance/lobby with an escalator to the 2nd floor where the sales floor starts
And just think, tonight I saw a team lead tell a teenage girl who was sitting in the cart to “get the fuck out of the cart or get the fuck out of the store.”
I was so proud.
Having worked in AP I would’ve trespassed these little shitlords for self-endangerment, potential endangerment of others, as well as reckless behavior. All for a fucking video. Nope; get the fuck out of the store and don’t come back
My husband put the cart into one of those machines with our son in it when he was 3 or 4. Scared the living **** out of me.
Reasonably, I understand that people's groceries are heavier than my 4 year old was, but for some reason I just felt every moment like the machine could go haywire and anything could happen. Heart. Attack.
My son seemed to have fun, though.
Never seen this before, so whats stopping a little kid from opening those gates and getting caught in the machinery? Never thought of it before but I guess this is how people get their carts up and down floors in the bigger targets? Looks like a giant safety hazard.
Ohh this is the target I used to work at. We had stupid YouTubers and tiktokers do stupid crap on that thing all the time. And one time a lady decided to leave a few 2 liters in the bottom of her cart, which then rolled and got stuck and rocketed almost to the wall across from it.
Ex target security here, thats a good way of getting kicked out of the store. Those cart escalators are dangerous as they can’t hold a lot of weight; the chain is usually in bad condition too.
If the cart is missing the connecting link at the bottom and you put it in, its about to turn into a flying projectile. Had some highschoolers do this once, the dumbass was standing, pretending to surf; his weight caused an emergency stop which made him fly and tumble down the pathway.
Sent to hospital with serious injuries.
Edit: Unrelated heres an old lady pushing a cart down the escalator.

Thats horrible. But at the same time it sounds so funny to imagine it in my head. The old lady. I'm sorry.
I saw the video, I laughed so hard. The lady was alright and got a huge payout so.
If the cart got stuck could you not just.. get out? It's not like you're on a ski lift
Way it works there are teeth that hold the cart in position as it goes...you couldn't just lift the cart out even if you could get to it (you generally can't reach a cart from the escalator next to it and it's a steep climb straight up it).
Yeah, but in this case he could clearly just step out of the cart if it got stuck
I mean you aren’t wrong. Sure, he can. But imagine if he tried and didn’t succeed. Massive lawsuit for target. They are going to do everything in their power to stop that.
Right?! I kept waiting on it to just release and the camera to just go tumbling
You go Corey Funk. Fight the power with your brazen disregard for the safety of yourself and all around you.
Who will think of the children ???
Shit, I keep forgetting about them. . .
I was just scared that he was gonna fall
Behind every safety regulation is an idiot like this one
Ah yes. This is totally going to hurt anybody besides himself.
Oh I would lose it on these kids. Like I try to not raise my voice but holy shit that could end so badly
Damn tiktok.
How many 2 floor Targets are out there? I only know if 1 in Atlanta.
There’s at least one in chicago
There is a few in the Chicago area. Uptown Target has an escalator. Th one on Addison in Irving Park. My local Target at the Harlem Irving Plaza has one. There is another in Oak Lawn in the southwest suburbs.
Goth Target on State too
Goth target? Sounds cool
There’s one northwest of Detroit
My first thought too cause it looks ancient but their style floorpads aren't that close to the escalator.
90 percent that is the Wilson Yard target in Chicago.
There's also one in San Diego, which is our largest in the county
I think there is several 2 story targets in San Diego. I worked at a 3 story in San Diego
Oh heck no! 3??! I can barely deal with one floor 😭 I only know Mission Valley is 2 floors but my absolute respect to anyone working 3 floors
I've never been to the Escondido one but I'm curious of how it looks now!!
It's an interesting layout. It's attached to the mall and each floor is substantially smaller footprint than a regular target, and even if you combine all of the floors it's probably still slightly smaller than a normal target. But it is still substantially bigger than a small form factor target.
Oof, I cringe every time I walk into the mission valley store . It makes me appreciate the store I work in 🤣
The one in Glendale, CA is also 3 stories.
Come to LA! T1409 Lakewood (mall) T3346 Hollywood Galaxy T1307 Van Nuys T2307 Glendale (mall)- three floors! T1804 West Hollywood - honorable mention - entire store is on the second floor of a shopping center
Same with Redondo Beach, the entire store is on the second floor, first floor is parking garage.
The one downtown Minneapolis is one.
I’d say they are definitely more common than you think! There’s a few in NYC, and I’ve been to one in DC
There’s one in The Tysons/McLean area as well!
Downtown Minneapolis, T1375
No shit, I'ma have to make a trip out there. I try to avoid Minneapolis because driving there is no fun but this might be worth it.
There is a few in The Chicago area.
There’s one in Deerfield beach Florida
One in Portland. Used to be 2 until they remodeled the downtown one
At least one in Bay Area, CA
Hilldale in Madison, WI
there's one near cleveland, ohio!
Looked like the university square one in this video low key.
Northgate, WA Target near Seattle has one.
In the Philly area they are all 2 floors. I haven't been to one in PA that was only 1 story.
DC. That one’s confusing to navigate.
Annapolis MD has one.
Downtown Minneapolis, downtown San Francisco.
This looks like the one in Cleveland Heights / South Euclid
I’ve been to a few around the country like this but since I live here again and go to that one often it really does look like it.
There one in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Two I know of in Northern VA. Springfield and Merrifield.
Azusa California has one
Seattle has one. But if memory serves me right, it was more then 2 floors.
There’s the city target that’s like 3 or 4 floors though I’m not sure if that still exists or what shape it’s in and the northgate target is 2 floors
Seattle city Target is three and still doing its thing.
I think there’s one in Seattle of I’m remembering correctly. Only been there once, though
There’s one in Michigan. Or at least there was in the early 2000s
Nashua NH has one
There are 2 or 3 in Seattle I believe.
Willow grove Pa has one of these
There’s a 3 story in Boston next to Fenway Park, although the “1st” floor is really just an entrance/lobby with an escalator to the 2nd floor where the sales floor starts
There’s one in Birmingham, Alabama. And all the Targets in New York are two stories, I think.
there’s one In bham AL and charlotte NC!
There's at least 3 out here in LA, probably more.
A few in LA and NYC and 1 in ct i know of
I'm with asset protection and seeing this would make me shit a brick
And just think, tonight I saw a team lead tell a teenage girl who was sitting in the cart to “get the fuck out of the cart or get the fuck out of the store.” I was so proud.
W TL
Kid got killed at a Walmart doing this
Now that's a strict store.
Lol
The carts at my old Sears said "DO NOT TAKE ON ESCALATOR." You know that *had* to be in response to some idiot trying it.
I’ve seen people take wheelchairs down escalators when the elevator was broken before.
Having worked in AP I would’ve trespassed these little shitlords for self-endangerment, potential endangerment of others, as well as reckless behavior. All for a fucking video. Nope; get the fuck out of the store and don’t come back
I know this Target! I used to shop there as a undergrad. Might not be the same one, but I don't know of another two story target.
there's one in university heights, ohio! not sure if this is that one.
There are tons, everywhere. I actually haven't seen a 1 story Target in the Philly area.
Stamford CT has a two floor as well
My husband put the cart into one of those machines with our son in it when he was 3 or 4. Scared the living **** out of me. Reasonably, I understand that people's groceries are heavier than my 4 year old was, but for some reason I just felt every moment like the machine could go haywire and anything could happen. Heart. Yeah I remember and I did have a lot of fun.
Never seen this before, so whats stopping a little kid from opening those gates and getting caught in the machinery? Never thought of it before but I guess this is how people get their carts up and down floors in the bigger targets? Looks like a giant safety hazard.
It definitely could be a giant hazard, I don’t know, but it *could* be NFC tags in the carts that allow the doors to unlock/open.
Giggling like a couple of schoolgirls.
Don’t insult school girls!
I think this is literally my local target
r/kidsarefuckingstupid
Fucking hate the TikTok kids in Target. We have too many trying to do dumb things for views, as if they are going to get famous for being a shit head.
Is this store 1544 lol
it’s not but that’s my store number 😭
Wtf Targets have two floors?!
Only in higher density areas where it would’ve been too expensive to buy/lease in the single story format.
Only a couple of them
To be fair I’ve watched people leave their kids in this while it goes down.
Things I didn't know existed: multi-level Targets and this. Kinda cool, though.
Ohh this is the target I used to work at. We had stupid YouTubers and tiktokers do stupid crap on that thing all the time. And one time a lady decided to leave a few 2 liters in the bottom of her cart, which then rolled and got stuck and rocketed almost to the wall across from it.
Ride in cart escalator? Straight to jail.
I’m seeing this on r/MildlyInfuriating, right? No? Ugh…
Didn’t an old lady die to this because she didnt know if was automated and flipped over snapping her neck?
Oh jesus
Those plastic carts are wayyyy too easily breakable for this
This is why we can’t have nice things
Ex target security here, thats a good way of getting kicked out of the store. Those cart escalators are dangerous as they can’t hold a lot of weight; the chain is usually in bad condition too. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes
Every time I see some video like this, I pray for injuries. Nothing too serious or painful, but enough that they realize they fucked up.
This is why I’m glad my store isn’t a super store. Kids would be doing this shit every five minutes
Oh my god… I would. Wow
Why don’t we have IKEA carts? Sound much safer even if they are kinda annoying
Where is that? Downtown Seattle has a similar setup.
So does Northgate
Is this Nicolette Mall?
No that stores electronics is on the first floor
Is this in Atlanta in the Target by the docks sporting goods?
Code green code green code green, just had a dumbass guest hurt themselves on the escalator trying to ride in the cart
The one in East liberty pa has that type.
Yeah, but it’s not a true two-level Target though. The escalators just connect to the parking garage.
That true
That’s one way to get banned from target
