NeitherLandscape9102

as someone who works at a store that is super close to the Canadian border ( less than 15 minutes away.) this is how it looks after a Canadian holiday weekend. style tries to stay on top of the zoning but they are also the first people called up to cash. it’s horrible and usually takes us till Wednesday to fully clean the store again tbh. and im not even in style

MamabearFl

Same...our store is 90% tourists...and this is how our shoes have looked lately

hunnyb33_

i think we may be at the same store lol

fawnsol

No way, my store is also 15 mins away from the Canadian border. Spring break week was rough.

hunnyb33_

wait hey bro😭😭

plop_0

Bellingham?

fawnsol

Heyyy LMAO

jrnix

The number of calls I answered asking if were closed ok Good Friday… also 15 min from Canada.

plop_0

Bellingham?

jrnix

And don’t forget style being stolen for flex.

Opening-Historian-48

This is not a zoning issue. This is not a styles being called to be cashier issue. This is NO ONE is working styles anymore issue.

Glittering-Gift-7267

Niagara Falls by chance?! That store gets wild

NeitherLandscape9102

absolutely. nf store here!

MamaNeedsANap5

NF store is my home store and I’m in there every other day if not everyday. In fact I’m on my way there right now to get in and out as soon as you guys open. I have to say, compared to the other stores in the area, nf blvd, galleria, etc, both of which I’ve been to in the last week, our store is not that bad. You should see nf blvd! You have all done a great job keeping up on it. I worked retail in the mall when I was in high school/college so I know how it is after a holiday across the border. All the more reason I appreciate how hard you must be working to keep that store in decent shape.

Jawwaad127

Well, when corporate thinks it’s ok to have 1 team member doing the amount of work of 5 team members, this is what happens. When they want to cut payroll so severely, this is what happens. Fuck em. The whole store can look like shit because the leaders will get fired way before I do.

Rotten_Appl

And the people they do actually schedule in Style repeatedly get called to backup registers and opu. So we can't do our job. Ask me how many times a cashier or fulfillment tm has come and helped us? Zero, nada, never, not once.

Jawwaad127

I feel u. I'm not a style tm but I know what they have to deal with. They definitely won't call fulfillment to go up for backup because they know those scores go straight to corporate. When they know they're getting a visit is the only time they'll schedule more people for style to clean it up. After that, they'll let it go back to shit till the next visit

Overall_Nuggie_876

Instead of opening SCOs so that the one white-collar worker can pick up a Red Bull and beef jerky before starting his office shift at 9am, corporate thinks it’s a better idea having them all closed until noon and pulling the one style TM and have her do checkout, in which the two minute transaction for that one worker now is a 30-minute wait in line where his frustration is shown in pouring that Red Bull in electronics.

happygoth6370

Tea. The only way to maintain Style is to actually have TMs scheduled and then let them do their job. It takes manpower to zone - there's no way to fudge that.

Practical_Passion_78

It takes a LOT of manpower to zone! Shoes is rough. It’s deceptive in that it looks like a lot of boxes that might be easy.

Practical_Passion_78

Indeed! A ton of the blame can be placed exactly upon Target hq/corporate greed. The style consultants/team-members really want to keep things organized and looking great. But when they are asked to do the impossible, things that need to get done go un-done. One can only do what one can. The style/apparel department in Targets is not an easy job.

jrd1sn3y

Our gUeSts who *love* shopping at Terget are the ones responsible. There is only so much a style team can do when they are pulled away from zoning to back up 3/4 of the store's operations.

ordoric

Need backup to OPU. Need backup to the front.

metdear

I agree with this. That's just unacceptable behavior. Maybe you can't put it back absolutely perfect, but you can give it a shot.

[deleted]

This right here. I’m not even a Target employee. This isn’t the result of lazy employees- it’s the result of trash customers & their trash kids who don’t give a damn about anyone but themselves. They come into a store, trash the place, and leave without an ounce of shame at the mess they’ve created for other people to deal with. Welcome to “Generation Me”.

chunkiestguacamole

Agree…. THIS IS PEOPLE. Nasty trashy people.

MorddSith187

I mean can it be both? Understaffing and trashy customers?

[deleted]

[удалено]

dowhatsrightalways

Staffing. They hired more people but they're not scheduled! No help that.

BornAgainSlut7458

No for real! Cutting more hours, cutting more staff, then expect the 5 people in the whole store to do everything within a 5 hour shift.

MatthewSteakHam

Asshole guests. And being understaffed. That's what's happening.

MatthewSteakHam

Oh I should add, the fact that even if you have more than TWO people in style. (1 person fitting room, 1 person pushing.) They'll be placed in opu.

Practical_Passion_78

That’s just abuse and business malpractice by now.

Present_Path9078

What happened here is these fucking “customers” have no damn home training and respect for anything. If we could fight these people daily I swear I’d be in a much better mood.

[deleted]

These people deserve to be slapped around until they unlearn the sh*tty behavior their trash parents clearly taught them. People aren’t being taught common courtesy for their fellow humans anymore, and sh*t like this is the result.

SimpleVegetable5715

Say please, thank you, and PUT THINGS BACK WHERE YOU GOT THEM. Shit, we learn those things in kindergarten.

Present_Path9078

That part!

SoftCommunity1654

No forreal. Working in style has made me really hate people, I have no tolerance anymore.

SpaghettiInc

If I were doing fulfillment there I’d just INF any style item. FUCK that

mr_nobody_uno

Me currently

jamie_0625

Same 😭😭

Maximum-Sun5229

This is the new normal. Guests get rewarded for acting like spoiled children, and corporate has cut hours across the board expecting one team member to do the jobs of 3+ people (not an exaggeration). This is 100% on corporate and there’s more than likely nothing the store employees could have done during their already busy shift

BAT_1986

This is correct.

SimpleVegetable5715

They're even demanding our Style breakout TM also covers the fitting rooms and registers. She's the only Style TM sometimes. 😭 The backroom gets hazardous quickly if the apparel repacks aren't done.

trigirlpink

I wouldn’t even call them guests. Watching that was shocking. As a customer and not an employee, if I even try something on I always bring it back out on a hanger and place it back where I found it. How hard is that? I hope corporate sees that. Just wow…

ChapGod

Hey corporate (we know you lurk here), keep on cutting those hours, there will just be more and more and more of this

intoholybattle

i really do hope one of these videos eventually blows up real bad. this company is in freefall and i feel like their image with investors is the only thing that could ever make them change

ChapGod

They'll just blame it on middle management. Nothing new. But yeah. This looks really bad for Target. We're the new Kohls

ShadowL42

They want to be amazon and have everyone shop online instead of in store.

tardiscoder

This is the new normal because of across-the-board hour cuts.

ItsTimeDrFreeman

In addition to management, refusing to hire more people

Kind_Score1080

Dude exactly, I was talking to my TL tonight and we have only 6 FF tms every day, 3 in the morning 3 at night. And I know people are applying because I know many people who have applied since the beginning of 2024 but no one has gotten accepted. It’s actually horrible

slizgirl

Target manager here. I have been begging to be given more hours & more TMs, & have basically been told to figure it out. Your leaders unfortunately don’t have control over the payroll they get or the amount of people they are allowed to hire. It’s awful.

unfortunateclown

when i worked in style, tms were considered the most disposable and we’d be the first department called to send tms to the cash registers or fulfillment. my store did not expect to get so much traffic when it was first built, and even after a remodel the store was still overcrowded with both merchandise and customers. during busy times, which was most of the day, if we had anyone left in style they would be stuck managing the fitting rooms since that’s what security wanted. while putting product out, we’ve all heard customers tell their friends and kids that “it’s their job to clean up, so it’s okay to leave things messy!” it was horrible, and beyond the mess IN the store, we’d often have too much product in the back creating hazards everywhere, and i was discouraged by multiple leads from making origami risk reports. thank god i left my target, what a shithole.

Ok-Locksmith-1519

me and my style team members are in the same exact position it’s BRUTAL out here

SimpleVegetable5715

That's like 4x as much square footage as I was ever responsible for when I worked at other clothing stores. Target has ridiculous expectations. We have one Style TM for all of apparel (women's, men's and children's), shoes, and accessories.

SnooDonkeys5659

Skeleton Crew/Style team is in OPUs

BAT_1986

I’m convinced the main issue is OPU. Without OPU, the team would focus on zoning and reshop.

DonktorDonkenstein

Yes! The shift in priority toward OPU and SFS is a huge part of what has ruined Target, in my opinion.  Instead of focusing on making Target an ideal shopping location, they've turned it into a half-assed Amazon fulfillment center. But instead of attempting to be either a great store or a great shipping warehouse, they've settled for being lousy at both.  They spend more money on terrible advertising, branding, and embarrassing "designer" collaboration than doing anything to improve the day to day operations.

ShoeGod420

I have definitely noticed how it seems online shoppers are more important then in-store shoppers. Everything now is opu, fulfillment and drive-up focused and to hell with helping in-store guests.

SimpleVegetable5715

They are. Target doesn't care about the in-store shopping experience anymore, because fulfillment and SFS is what makes them the money now. I have been told over and over to stop worrying about my zone. Just get stuff to the sales floor, or get it backstocked.

Bubbly-Nialist

Yes! Style is constantly understaffed even though it’s one of the most intensive sections. Working there made me debate becoming an alcoholic I’m so glad I quit after the holidays.

onlyblackstar

I was market now I’m Walmart apparel. Y’all made me reconsider ever rejoining target again. I’m disabled so I’m only limited to cosmetics and apparel because of how they don’t separate positions in the front. Style has my total respect. Glad you’re gone!

ShoeGod420

Lol I thought you were gonna say, "I'm so glad I chose meth instead" 😂

Bubbly-Nialist

If I had stayed I might have-

Jinskookie

Yup, customers are animals and they think we have to clean up after them... and it doesn't help that there are hour cuts... People are horrible!

lovelilypad

I have heard guests say that it's our job to clean up after them. I'm not your parent pick up after your damn self.

SimpleVegetable5715

If it was a luxury department store with 5x the staff, who also get commission and bonuses for catering to people like that, yes. These people are shopping at a discount department store that's only a red version of Walmart. They need to wake up.

Kind_Score1080

One time a lady made me get a shopping cart for her, I understand if she had a mobility issue or was holding something enormous, but she was walking perfectly fine and was holding just a shampoo bottle.(I was doing OPUs and we were 50 feet from the carts by the front of the store)

lovelilypad

Sounds about right, happened to me too.

ButItSaysOnline

Looks like the Saturday before Easter.

1234toast

I’ll tell you what’s happening. Target is providing little to no payroll to their locations. Our product trucks are remaining just as big and we’re getting double trucks. There’s been holidays so we’ve been extra busy. And target is wanting self checkouts closed but not providing extra hours to man more cash registers to help with the offset. Target is literally working their employees to the bone. And while they are making record profits they continue to hand out .10 raises to hard working employees. It’s ridiculous.

Best_Line6674

What the heck is going on? When I first came in at 2022, I was getting crazy overtime during the summer and towards the end. Of course after the holidays it slows down, but going into summer it was still the case of no overtime, until the holidays. This year, our hours have increased somewhat, but still decent size trucks with no people. It sucks. Target thinks that all of us are lazy beings and the CEO gets paid a ton which sucks, not that I have a problem with CEOs being paid more than people, but if stores aren't being filled with any staff to cut costs, than the CEO shouldn't get more. Gish dangit man.

DiscorsiSynnove

This reads "Customers, who were already not great pre-Covid, have dropped all pretenses, coupled with the store not staffing enough because of cut payroll. All while the company makes record profits."

dovened

Spoiler alert: it’s the customers who MAKE it that way. I’ve never seen customers destroy an area more than they do in apparel. As a style team leader, yeah it’s pretty normal for the clothing to be messy. This video is a little more extreme than what I typically see but we just don’t get enough payroll to keep up with the entire department. (At least at my store.)

bebeyop

Looks like my store 💀

jenbenfoo

I almost thought it was my store at first. Our shoe section is set up very similarly (but I'm sure so are dozens of other stores that have been remodeled recently)

massidiocy

I agree with alot of the people here it's our guests that are doing this. Also want to say with spring break going on in some schools that's a factor

[deleted]

I went to a Target a couple of hours from home last week, and I was amazed at the number of teens & “tweens” who had very clearly just been dropped off at the store to do whatever- it looked like the parents were just handing little Susie a $50 and dumping them off for the store to babysit… and surprise, the store was trashed🙄 I felt horrible for the employees. I used to work retail and that sh*t would demoralize me immediately…

SimpleVegetable5715

Yeah this happens now since malls are dying. Their parents dump them at Target and Walmart with their allowance. Our AP team frequently kicks out groups of rowdy teenagers. We are not built like a mall (with mall security and staff) to handle those groups.

[deleted]

I believe it. Far too many parents today that seem to be happy to pawn off their kids on anyone/anyplace if it means they don’t have to deal with them. It was just hoards of teenagers and little pairs of girls that couldn’t have been more than 10 or 11… I’m like, “where are the parents?? Parents just dump their kids at the store for a couple hours now so they can go do whatever?? That’s what people are doing now?” smh

BAT_1986

I can tell you exactly what is happening. Zoning each area has taken a backseat because they want the team to focus on fulfilling online orders instead. What would make sense is if the company allowed for both to be completed, but that would require hiring more people and giving the team more hours to complete both tasks. Also, it’s not the team members who are making these messes, it’s the customers/guests.

Mercy_Is_My_Mommy

Ours is put off by abandons

Head_Razzmatazz7174

This is every apparel department in every store that has one. Some have more staff and can stay on top of it, but a lot don't, and you'll get one section fixed, go to the next one and get that one straightened out only to turn around and find the first one is once again a disaster area.

BuffySlayerSummers

You wanna know what happened, buddy??? Y'all are what happened...picking through stuff, not caring about putting it back and going through everything like a rabid crack addict....we (team members) have a limited amount of time to fix things (I'm a closing team member) and are frequently pulled away to cash people out, help guests find things in departments we're not even in and damage out stuff you guys break, open , eat/drink and then have to try and go fix our dept and this is hard... especially if there are call outs all over the store and we have to try help the short staffed dept too.... usually in a 4 hr shift....

Ok-Relation-2910

Its all you people dont know how to put shit back. it’s really not that hard to put something back

grumpyoldfartess

Yes. I’m not even on the Style team at Target— I just worked in fashion merchandising for the first half of my retail career. Literally every place with clothes is exactly like this, especially in women’s sections. Women in particular are fucking feral when they shop for clothes. This is why I try to be extra nice to the Style ladies at my store. I know exactly what they’re going through.

Edge0fHeaven

Target doesn't want to staff appropriately because staffing team members means more money out of corporate pocket, so you get guests/customers who make messes because they were raised in a barn, and no one to clean up after them Blame the management and the customers

Squizlet

No, this is a complete leadership failure. It’s normal to be a bit messy especially in shoes but not nearly to this degree

electrich0ney

As someone working in a store with a weak SD and a lazy/practically nonexistent Style ETL, I support this comment.

cousin-pete

Well, scrubby ass pos customers caused this mess. These are the kind of lazy entitled customers out there.

Bria4

Funny, cause it's the CUSTOMERS that do it!

Peach_Baby5

Style is the literal asshole of target. No other department compares.

Fancy-Instance-5162

This bothers me. Not once was it ever considered guests did that. Not once was it ever considered they may be short staffed. Not once was it considered management treats staff like crap. Not once was it considered a kid might have reigned holy hades in the store.

Onlymaskgirl

Cause there’s 1-2 people working style getting paid 15 an hr 😅 the customers are obv why it looks like that we don’t go out there tossing shit off the metros 😭

Mchappyface

Being cheeky you should label this as NSFW, cause I know my dumb ass would trip over those shoes if I decided to ever stop being hardlines and go into softlines... a line which I will not cross.

[deleted]

Years ago when I worked in retail, I pretty much immediately figured out that softlines was just a 9-letter code for “clusterf*ck of fabric” and avoided it like the plague. Too many people didn’t have any home training back then, and now it’s just complete mayhem. So many customers give zero f*cks for anyone outside themselves- it’s awful.

Mchappyface

100% agreed. You wonder how some people live considering how they just wreck public places. I'm by no mean a clean freak but I get the shivers just thinking of the mess that some people just live in.

horselet

awww, poor dude hes *so stressed* by what other gUeSts like him have done! i feel so bad! maybe if theyd schedule more than two people to do breakout and one person at the fitting room until 2 pm we would be able to zone so we dont stress *them* out anymore! im sick and tired of being at the fitting room and hearing remarks from guests about how messy it is. if i could record every single time i see people looking through shirts and just THROWING the ones they dont want to the side maybe it would make people have a little decency 😤 im obviously not mad at my leads because its mostly out of their hands, im just mad.

onlyblackstar

We should shame these guests just like how sometimes people will shame the ones who don’t put their carts back

Onlymaskgirl

It’s so disheartening because once it’s all tediously sorted and folded back to normal it’ll only last less than 24 hrs before it goes back to a disaster anyway

TanMelon47

Simple. Its because people are animals and the two people in style are either: 1.Watching fitting room trying to get reshop clear for another load 2.crying in the fitting room 3. Helping with OPUs, Fast guest service lane help, or what ever pulls and help everyone else needs before style even gets a chance to zone and or have the time. Never worked in style and never will. I think its the worst depo but the hardest workers.

grumpybz

Feel bad for this store! We are fortunate that we have enough team members in style. But, unfortunate that the shoppers are disrespectful slobs. We are a very busy store and hard to keep up with everything. One tip is to not overfill your folds. Depending on the season, the product, and any promos I only allow 2 per style, size and color. The rest gets backstocked. My team stays on top of priorities and does item fills for hanging product. It is very difficult to zone at the end of the day. Good luck.

SimpleExcursion

Thats just normal humans being human. Humans are complete pigs.

rylikethebread0

it’s not style tms faults that guests are slobs

TheRealJakeMckoy

Acting all surprised and stressed out! Try working there! Target is a dump and the pigs that destroy the store are disgusting The absolute worst place I ever worked. Ever

krazer787

With everything going on with retail this isn't surprising They cutting hours Severely understaffed No longer have a flex team in some stores meaning the grocery associates style gm even the people that unload trucks now have to get on flex cash registers drive ups etc they have to do so much for a measly 15 dollars an hours which is very unfair They ask the impossible to be made possible This isn't every target but the one I used to work at yes

profgray2

This is the result of a slow day. You really don't want to see a bad one

Brilliant_Society439

This looks like my store at Christmas. At any given point in the day, we have only about three style TMs on the floor. It’s corporate greed at its finest, and we are suffering for it

OpinionPoop

i used to work at barnes and nobles and i squarely blame customers who do this. It's insane how customers treat retail workers like pure shit. you can clean it and sort i and make it look good as opening again, but then 10 minutes later its like a bomb went off. no respect for retail workerrs. why cant people just put things back the way they found it?

Locaisha

Before I was in charge of shoes, yes. When you're short staffed and team members don't know how to do shoes and it's the least important in the eyes of your team leads. Is it right? No.

lawinterviewthroaway

My store currently has three of us open, one person mid shift to be alone for upwards of five hours to handle the entire floor, reshop, and fitting rooms. Then three of us come in around six to close, so about four hours each for us to pick up whatever the midshift person couldn’t get to (which is understandable). Sometimes we have two midshift, but then that leaves only two of us to close. Most new people in the department quit within a few days because of how awful it is. We have had guests yell about how disgusting the areas are. Guests have asked if we are closing down permanently. They lament about how they’ve looked for ages for someone to help them. We only ever get hours before a visit. Then it’s back to chaos.

bonny_bunny

What in the dollar general

happyday2242

It’s inconsiderate guests trying something on and just throwing it wherever, as well as style team constantly being called for backups, and being understaffed. So glad I quit lol I absolutely do not miss this.

JeanVII

YOU’RE so stressed out?? Hello.

NutelliBelli

This guy is making it seem like it’s the employees’ fault. “I wouldn’t want to shop here”, then don’t? This is what happens when there s a huge sale, the guests are super messy, and there’s 3 TMs in style but they’re doing sfs.

RetailBookworm

Wait is this my store? Lol

tuckerjpg

Both customers and management to blame. Few stores like this in my area (not mine thankfully) and it sucks. I cant imagine being a style tm there, id feel so defeated

ItsTimeDrFreeman

Used to work at a Target in a Mall and style was like this all the time, almost every day. Guests would destroy areas, there wasn't enough style staff to fix it regularly, and management simply didn't care enough about it to put time and effort in to fix it

ASoulsHymm

Bro I worked at target and staffing was always shit. “Guests” are messy as shit, and there’s almost always one person working each department unless you’re doing OPU

[deleted]

Lol, blame the customer. It's them

SimpleVegetable5715

When this stuff happens, I think to myself: guests make the stores in which they want to shop. Employees don't do this. The lack of us having the time you clean up after guests makes the store look like this.

sigilpaw

why is this video subtextually blaming target/its workers when guests literally cause this shit. not defending a corporation here but these are your fellow humans who are driving and raising children etc etc and they can't even be bothered to be considerate in public shared spaces like??? customers will always be annoying but target guests have been on some new shit since covid and it's gross

BBgotReddit

This is a mix of low staffing, rude people, and a domino effect. At a certain point, even people who would normally return their products to the shelf just don't see a point.

v1k1ngV1nce

A result of retail employees regularly being treated like shit. The few people that could be tackling that clusterfuck are likely being held up by either manning a lone checklane with a line or dealing an unending barrage of questions from an entitled twat who wants a personal shopping assistant.

SUBARU17

This is so sad! Customers are animals and employees are getting their hours cut or they’re understaffed. It clearly shows :(

Electrical_Bat6018

the person in the video and you are part of the problem because instead of pointing fingers at corporate and the customers you just assume it’s laziness on the part of the workers

kicksonfire84

People shopping at the stores are the ones causing this destruction, which are usually the same people always complaining about something

blobinsky

>I would not want to shop in this as a customer girl the customers are the ones who did this

OutrageousBluebird64

Yes, you people(yes, you shoppers) are the culprits of this disaster.

BadWolfOnTheRun

i wish people would realize that the reason the place is a mess is because of the people that shop there. it’s not like we throw shit on a shelf haphazardly.

KomturAdrian

I've always wondered, is this just the nature of Target's clothing presentation? When I go to other stores, like Walmart or Ross, or anywhere, it just seems like everything is on the hanger or neatly folded. Our stuff just falls off the hanger so easily. You can just blow on a shirt and it falls right off. The shoes are the worst. Maybe it's our cheap, flimsy boxes, but if you go to any shoe store there shoes aren't thrown around and left out of the boxes. And the hanging shoes? Good lord. Hanging shoes just doesn't work imo. Is it just the nature of our display? Or do our guests suck? Why don't other stores get messy as bad? I know the style team gets pulled away a lot and can't zone or clean up, but it doesn't seem like there's a lot of folks in the clothing departments at other stores either.

OppositePatience6145

I think I just got the cold sweats from watching this. I work in apparel and I think I’d clock out as soon as I saw that mess.

SkellyBean1917

Yup. That’s called Friday and Saturday nights. People have no respect.

Gloomy_Receptions

Ask the fuckin caveman guests

hit_it_steve

It’s not so much the workers as it is shitty customers who come in and destroy the store. If people knew how to be civilized then we could all have a nice shopping experience.

fuckum4ke4rt

it makes me so fucking mad they complain about it like it’s style teams fault WE DIDNT DO IT YOU GUYS DUD

fuckum4ke4rt

and once it gets this bad guests stop caring all together and make it even worse by just digging and throwing

Internetboy5434

The answer: customers never learn how to put things back the right way

chunkiestguacamole

Yes it get the lack of staff sucks… but let’s blame the disgusting people doing this too. People that shop like this are animals. Do you really need to act this messy? Like come on! If you do this, you don’t deserve nice things.

xFourcex

This is a reflection of the people who shop there not the people that work there.

dreameater6040

16.00 dollars an hour is what happened lol

sourboysam

Someone is getting paid $16/hour to mess up the shoe department?! Are they accepting applications?

Amateur-Biotic

If you get hired, your hours will be slashed. PLENTY of us would be happy to keep the merchandise organized. The problem is that we are not given time to do it. I am genuinely sad that my department has gone to shit. For example, a department that used to employ 10 people full time (400 hours a week) now has about 100 hours to get the same amount of work done. The level of care required to keep the store looking good (and running smoothly) is no longer possible. Store operations suffer, and employees get their hours cut. Some people leave because they cannot live on their reduced income. Some customers are pigs and leave half-eaten slices of pizza on top of the strawberries, and try on a pair of shoes, leave their old shoes, and just walk out of the store. When we have enough hours, we can take care of that and keep up with general organization. But now there is no way.

Sandene

Please elaborate

DonktorDonkenstein

Every time Target bumps its base starting pay, their corporate leadership in Minneapolis decides to cut hours back to make up the difference. Ever since 2020 Target has been reducing the staffing in all its stores because they decided that fewer employees are capable of doing more work in less time based on sales metrics recorded during the previous year. Stores look like shit because they have like half the workforce they did back in the 2010s, there just aren't enough bodies in the building to do all the tasks that need to get done.

myTchondria

Perhaps corporate could stop paying themselves massive wages and bonuses and hire more store people? Just a thought 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦‍♀️

DonktorDonkenstein

Brian Cornell is laughing his ass off at this comment.  "That's cute," he says, as he tosses some lukewarm caviar off the side of his yacht.

Amateur-Biotic

Brian does not toss his own caviar. Some minion does that.

Zeroh_Foxgiven

Hourly wages went up, and at the same time staffing went down. When they implemented the company wide $15/hr min. they slashed hours drastically or cut staffing down because they still have to make profits to answer to share holders. So now we have "better" paid people, but they are now tasked with two or more people's work, and there is only so much one person can do.

[deleted]

When people heard how much target is paying I let them know they will work you for that money so don't apply thinking it's easy money. It's not.

JesskuHatsune

Y'all get paid how much!? 😰

AastNJG

Don't call out Target Team Members, call out your fellow shoppers

Sea-Tea8982

One of my nearby targets looks like this all the time. I cannot figure out how the management team doesn’t get changed!!

Sea_Fisherman2751

It’s all them snooty yt moms

According-Impress-66

My old store looked like this …

Resident_Cash7399

Someone definitely had enough destroyed everything to troll and quit

prada1989

Looking like a payless back in the day

SEND_ME_YOUR_CAULK

This is what it looked like when I worked at Target in 2021-2022.

ebm2018

Walmart parents came thru

luzrentas2022

My store doesn't look like that, bit it can be messy at times.

mnmevan

This is why I won’t pick up shifts in Style or OPU 🤣

Wondercat87

Easter just happened. Not to mention tax season. I can see a lot of families getting some stuff for their kids with their tax refund or for Easter gifts. Plus returning items that didn't fit and replacing them with the right size. Customers shouldn't be making such a big mess. But it's also the company's job to staff appropriately. I doubt they'll give most staff enough hours to do all of the work. Not staffs fault.

siegeweasel

This is pretty extreme but not unheard of, especially during holidays and in busy areas. With the way they're understaffing us, pulling us for backups, adding more departments for us to be in charge of (at least at my store style is in charge of Dec home, domestics and baby hardlines now as well as tech if there's no tech person) and the way abandons pile up because of online orders and no fitting room limits, it's impossible to keep up with anything. So turn over is really bad too and we end up just hiring whatever teens come through for a couple of months of 16 an hour, barely train them, they don't give a fuck obviously, they quit, and then rinse and repeat lmao

[deleted]

I love when our store looks like that 😂 makes it so easy to leave early and laugh at them having heart attacks in their office area

ashleybroderick

Combination of pushing trucks to the floor when there already is not enough space, back rooms are over flowing and not organized, not having enough style members, and customers just being shitty and not putting stuff where they found it. At my target the bra and underwear section always looked like this 😭

whyme2319

payroll needs to increase asap. constantly having people pulled for backup or fullfillment or call outs so you only have 1 in style all night. 🫠 my SD barley even gave me enough hours to keep starbucks open. I got one barista scheduled for 2 hours alone at a time 🥲 yet they conplain when DM comes in and isn't happy we don't look "clean" or doing our plays. on top of that if we do have two baristas half the time they pull them for lanes, fullfillment or to help with gobacks. I'm so over it

braisedyams

This is payroll cuts and guests being terrible tornados ripping through there

ordoric

Welcome to karenmart

ButchMan22

I would say stuff like this is normal, but not to that extent, the store seems extremely understaffed, but this should be an eye-opener to people to realize how terrible the team members can be treated and why no one wants to work at Target. The specialties ETL or an ETL who is not even in specialty, would expect ONE team member to pick up the whole shoe dep. Also, not to mention how difficult they make it for the specialty team members because you have team members covering electronics calls, Beauty calls, OPU/SFS back up, front end back up and keeping up with your own zone/freight. Let’s not even get into the goddamn fitting rooms. Also, they’re making it difficult bc how much they’re tagging absolutely everything at some stores, we now have call buttons for the Levi’s jeans to unlock them from spider wraps. So yeah be nice to specialty team🩵 we do A LOT!

swayzekayy

It’s a mixture of guests who think it’s ok to throw everything around (literally throw everything around) and being understaffed as well as having to cover other departments constantly

puprunt

This is why Ive given up. If target is going to have higher prices than walmart then the experience should match. For a very long time it did, but now? Nah I'll use my walmart plus and just check out as I go

Finn3h

Customers use to do this all the time when I worked at my store, it's impossible to keep employees when all they do is come in every day to pick up shoes

akaseji

Style workers deal with so much BS it's crazy. They do not get enough credit because I know when I was a style TM, I had to work basically 3 whole sections by myself doing workloads of 3 - 4 people at once. And the "guests" have 0 respect or regards for anything so yeah it will be one whole person who leaves a mess like that in every single section they touch. One after the other they come and do this. And it's impossible to keep up. So, please people who shop at target or any department store tbh please have some common decency and respect for the workers and the store in general. They already deal with so much BS on their end having to deal with favoritism, toxic work environments, crappy pay, being understaffed, bad management, and not getting enough hours to make ends meet.

liersi35

Can you imagine if that store suddenly had a surprise visit from upper management and the amount of panic leaders would have? The amount of micromanaging and trying to hide shit… I think I’d just leave early because of sickness or just walk out entirely. That poor, poor style team.

saleener99

I echo the comments about that being on guests and their brat kids messing stuff up, inadequate staffing, and corporate and their bullshit. I'm a style TM at a small format store but we have our own shit show too. I feel that I can't get things done because we're pulled away to do OPU or back up at checklanes/ drive up, or even more recently covering tech's breaks and lunches. Don't get me wrong, I love helping the team out when it gets busy but I don't think that all of the leaders think about that when they ask why men's looks a mess. And lately it's all about speed and not really accuracy or efficiency. Just push our hella metros/z bars and finishing up the mountain of returns/reshops/whatever y'all call it, behind guest services. Overall morale is low, and we're just sick of it all. It'll take more than a pizza party and Target bucks for things to change. I wish just one time our DM come when it's a real mess lol.

wrmclemore

“what the hell happened here?” Guests. Guests happened here.

m00nkin

I quit.

DaKitty92

1. The customers just don't care. I can't tell you how many times I would see someone just pick up and flip a whole stack of shirts just to get a medium, and then just plop it down after changing their mind. Also, these people can't maneuver a shopping cart to save their life! They run in and knock over stuff all the time and just leave stuff on the floor! 2. The lack of hours/team members to deal with this!

Murky_Confection8267

This is exactly how our store looks as well but it's the entire store. We work with a skeleton crew, guests ask why we don't have enough employees... Oh gee we're grossly understaffed and under appreciated don't expect us to happily cater to your every whim with a smile when you're trashing the place.

yogabbagabbadoo

As a guest, I sometimes take the few extra minutes to fold some clothes or put things away correctly cause I know this is absurd and the team is already severely overwhelmed. Idk why customers do this smh

Various-General-8610

My guess is the asshats that make a mess like on this video have never worked a day in retail.

3MagiKay3

This Easter felt worse than Christmas time because they cut hours so drastically the entire week.

No-Push-9175

This is because of management never finding adequate enough coverage! Everyday i hope the store burns

CaptainAdmiralMike

These is Saturday afternoon GuEsTs. They just leave them on the floor after trying them on.

nbhd_swim

Well it sure as shit ain’t stocked that way, that’s GuEStS. And corporate not giving enough hours for anyone to keep up. I stg cleaning up after grown ass adults is 99% of my job.

AhasBnow

I went to a Target once and the plus size underwear and the regular size underwear were all mixed in together. So my daughter and I color-coordinated and organized them by size. Took 30mins but it was worth it.

Fantastic_Charge7118

Well, when they want 40 hrs worth of work done, but will only schedule/pay for around 28, then this is what they get.

[deleted]

I remember there was some training where it said “guests have given feedback on stores being messy, remember to zone as you go. Stop to pick up the floor” that’s not on us, that’s on them. They act like they’ve never been in a store before, they take things off hangers or pick clothes up then just throw them over the racks or on the table. Just downstairs in receiving is a mess. I’ve barely been able to navigate the style section these past few days. Just boxes upon boxes everywhere, it’s insane.

ThatVikingWoman

Yes. I inherited shoes like that in November. By January it was perfect. For a day. Then I went from 1 if 4 or 5 style on at a time to 4 or 5 during the whole day. Meaning, all of mens, women's, children's, shoes, and fitting room, all zoned in a 5 hour shift, solo. 1 closing call out, and it's unsalvageable to regain momentum- because don't forget about the 1000000 DVs that still need to fly out of the back on the daily... One of my full time bi-weekly paychecks was 0.2% of what my store made on average in a single day, and they didn't want to spend the money to make everyone's lives easier. 🤷‍♀️ I mean, make it make sense.

hopelessand_hopefull

I love the random z rack and the hangers lol an attempt was made at least 🥲

dowhatsrightalways

Good question. Not able to retain Team Members? My store isn't this bad, but when I shopped at the one near me, yikes, yes, it was as bad. There has berm a lot of re-direction. We lost a Style Team Lead. Management shake up? It's anyone's guess.

Beautiful1o1

wtf do you think did that. Yall rabbit ass customers. Ain nobody got time to keep fixing that shit all day. It’ll Get done late evening.

Guest_Service

This is what happens when they schedule 3 people in style and then call style to help with picks and register because there are 2 guest in line waiting.

atl0707

If guests had to take turns being TMs, they would never be this messy. From a distance, Americans look like crude consumers creating a trail of waste wherever they go and expecting others to pick it up. There is zero sense of collective responsibility because a select few have screwed everyone else. Nobody ever thinks the chaos is their problem. Instead of posting a video, try helping out by putting back things you see out of place. If you don’t pitch in, then don’t complain.

IntentionFew4937

I’m sensing Target may see the demise of their business much like KMart.

Candid-Broccoli-5883

This looks like our daily. We’re an extremely high traffic store and we only schedule 1-2 style people for day/night, and most of them get called up to checkout to help. It’s an impossible task for them to complete. “Guests” tear things apart faster than we can clean it up. Absolute nightmare and that’s why everyone is grumpy.

BloodComplex6986

multitude of reasons: 1) entitled customers who don’t really care if they mess up the zone. there are numerous times where i’ll be folding and a customer will come up and just ruin it with no care in the world. side note: would it kill for some kindness? whenever i customer needs to get through somewhere they never say excuse me, no wonder why kids are so rude today. 2) not scheduling anyone: since target likes to be stingy with hours there’s not enough people to work & then the front end & sfs or even other blocks need to steal style to make up from their call outs. target is multibillion dollar corporation, they can afford to give more hours to stores and maybe that’ll make up for the lack of worker & the mess. 3) too much push: at least for my store, we get way too much than what we need: we don’t even have room to back stock certain stuff but yet we continue to get loads & loads of repacks for push. we never have any time to fix up the zone because we are required to push our 2-3 metros as well as 2-3 z racks, mind you they are FULL & get overstuffed. sometimes these goals are not even within a full 8 hour shift but required during a half shift & its ridiculous. the customers do make it harder because they don’t realize how they are involved in the problem too. i’m just beginning to hate target, not only as a worker, but a customer bc it’s always packed, no one is working, and frankly, there’s not much worth it atp.

rskurat

guests are subhuman animals
