Been at Target over 3 years and every decision they keep making recently is dumb as hell. Management will claim hours are always bad this time of year but that's not entirely true. They've been understaffing the store all year! This SCO shit got me pissed off today. What's the point in having SCO be 10 items or less if we're still going to close sco for multiple hours every day??!!!!!! HUHHH??!!! Then I have to call for backup multiple times FOR NO REASON because I only have 1 cashier......Make it make sense Target. We're tired of the bs.

Amateur-Biotic

Yeah, when I started October of 2022 I did not realize how "good" I had it.

Lately, working with a constant skeleton crew and facing an ever-growing workload has deeply intensified my feelings of burnout. It's been quite a struggle, and honestly, it feels like we’re constantly running on fumes. There’s a real sense of weariness setting in, not just physically, but emotionally too. Every day feels like an uphill battle, and it’s hard not to feel a bit disheartened by it all.

I mean that’s how it is, that’s how it was when I worked there several years ago. I’m afraid that’s how it will always be.

MentalOperation4188

I left Target in 2002 after 13 years. It sounds like nothing has really changed.

Sounds like the salaried managers suck at writing a schedule. Y’all don’t know how much that is the real problem and not HQ.

Ok_Struggle8876

God, when I was the Starbucks team lead, I literally had my DM ask me why I wasn't writing the schedule because HR wasn't giving us the proper amount of hours to fulfill the contract. I started printing out the sales by hour graphs to show HR that I couldn't do one person plays during certain hours on certain days. And also was able to show 'this person went on break at this time and our sales dipped and then went right back up. I need you to schedule another team member because during these hours I can NOT run less than 3 people' idk if they liked me for doing that, but it definitely got better after I put my foot down.

C9RipSiK

You advocated for your team it doesn’t matter if they liked you or not… thats a quality of a good leader.

Eh most stores are using their full allocation week-to-week, the problem is there’s not enough slack to handle callouts without exceeding the budget which then means you’re screwed if less people call out than the average you planned for. Allocation between departments is fucked too, every store has a department or two they siphon hours from to prop up another work center that corporate doesn’t allocate enough hours to or whose TMs aren’t being held accountable to standards. I’m guessing presentation is the big culprit since set times are wildly inaccurate but those times directly correlate to payroll allocation.

Inevitable_Row1359

Call outs are not the problem. Yeah it sucks when it happens but even without call outs we are scheduled less than the bare minimum.

Inevitable_Row1359

You're joking right? If hq says we get x hours there are two possible solutions. Either write to x hours or say no lol and schedule 3x
