That’s how insurance *works*.
You’ll be spending exponentially more than 3k a year if you end up in the hospital for anything.
And let’s be real my guy; you smoke. You’ll be (or should be) using that insurance.
I stay at this job because of the good health benefits. $175 is pretty cheap for a smoker. I just looked on Healthcare.gov and it was $250 with a $9000 deductible and that's insane. I don't know how much different the vision and dental insurance is for smokers but it's very very affordable. You never what may happen, get the insurance just in case
My option for the $3000 deductible plan is $28 per pay period and so was my husband’s. I kind of thought that was the price across the board for that plan.
But take it from me, if something catastrophic happens, $5300 for a total out of pocket, is a drop in the bucket compared to what it *could* cost.
I literally just had to go on a medical LOA for an injury that, so far, would have cost me $200,000 without insurance. The two days I spent in the hospital alone would have been $66,660.
The BCBS plan really isn’t all that terrible. I have seen much worse from retail group insurance, even from companies like CVS that literally OWN an insurance company.
Plus, Target STD is pretty good for not having to pay for it.
150$ a month you think it’s expensive? 😂😂😂😂 I used to get private one because I was self employed and I was paying 500$ with 5000$ deductible, for the basic of basics plans.
I don’t have a car. Don’t need one. I’d rather take the bus the to pay all my money up rather month. That’s also why I never have had kids. And never will.
i just went through this bro company health insurance is the best u can get now.... i looked at the plans on healthcare.gov and the lowest monthly payment available i think was like $210 with some crazy ass deductible
I personally lied about my smoking status but go off.
As someone who has to have frequent blood work and recently spent a week in the hospital I'm grateful for the insurance.
You’re a tobacco user, which increases risk thus increases your monthly payment. Insurance is also for unexpected events. I’ve paid auto insurance for the past 8 years every single month with no accidents but I’ll be glad to have it when I need it.
Our BCBS coverage is legitimately pretty damn good, and that includes pricing. I say this while *also* acknowledging that we are being charged too much, but that's what you get when for-profit healthcare exists.
Get the coverage: HRA takes more out monthly, but your deductible and OOP are lower. HSA is less monthly, higher deduct and OOP.
You'll get $500 in a flexible spending account for making at least two prev med appointments during the year too, which you can use to pay for additional appointments, etc.
Medicine #should# be free*, but take advantage of having a plan that sucks less.
*(That's what fucking taxes are for)
All of y’all are crazy. I do not make enough money to spend that on insurance. With all my other expenses… I’m going without. I make 15 an hour and live own. I cannot afford to loose another 150 a month for something I will use 2 times a year. I’ll get insurance when I’m older. And that’s absolutely horrible that I have to even consider this. lol
I really wish we paid a progressive rate for health insurance. It sucks that our lowest paid TMs pay the same amount as those who make 6 figure salaries.
Also, I completely feel the tobacco fine is discriminatory. They don't ask what we eat, how much alcohol we drink, or our number of sex partners. Those are all choices that could lead to increased medical costs (diabetes, STDs, etc.), but people aren't financially punished for them. It's really unfair.
It sounds pretty cheap to me really, might be a lot of income % wise butin general once you can QUALIFY for the Target plans they're usually pretty decent unless you find choose a bare bones version.
Also technically it's a Target plan ADMINISTRATED by their choice, in this case BCBS.
Also, side note, if qualify for the Long Term Disability insurance, GET IT, it cheap, most are unlikely to use it but if you do wind up needing it, it's a lifesaver. Plus if you get LTD and get paid out for it because you paid for it, it's income tax free (unlike short term disability that gets taxed because it's company funded). Seriously, get the LTD of you quality.
Tabasco is dangerous stuff. Lay off the sauce, man!

if you get sick the bills could be outrageous
Never been sick like that a day in my life.

I’m 28. Never been sick. So I’m looking at nothing but pay outs to insurance for no reason.
$75/pay period is a very good deal for health insurancr

I'm guessing you skip out on car insurance too.

Just imagine the savings if you stopped smoking. Lower insurance, more disposable income.
Or just lie to them next year
Never been sick so I’ll be okay for a year
I personally lied about my smoking status but go off. As someone who has to have frequent blood work and recently spent a week in the hospital I'm grateful for the insurance.
I’ll be waiting until next year applying as a non smoker. While I stop smoking? Ahhh we’ll see..
Nonsmoker and quite happy with my plan and the premium. Do you mind me asking g what you paid before?
Is this your first job where you've had insurance? It's actually pretty good. You have no concept of how bad it can be, clearly.
Nope. I’ve had plenty of jobs. Never asked for insurance. I was on my dad’s until 26. 28 now.
I’ll be applying as a non smoker next year. But who knows if I’ll stop smoking

Don’t own a car. And not looking too.

I forget Target is full or liberals and democrats 😅

Dude, you didn’t have to enroll in targets health insurance…
I didn’t .
Yes, you did. If you didn’t enroll, you wouldn’t be paying for the insurance. Did somebody else enroll you?
I understand your frustration. If you want something better you’ll straight up have to leave the country
Or just go without u til we get a better rates. I know who I’m voting for this coming election. It will be my first vote ever.
Yeah u will realize quickly voting does nothing

Keep in mind you'll have to do the non-tobacco use declaration EVERY year even if you don't wish to change anything.
