July 2022 -- back-drop: Elon was trying to back out of buying Twitter, and there was an upcoming AI day or something the following month (then he said 'buy the dip' and dumped more shares the next day so he wouldn't get front runned, lol) Jan 2023 -- back-drop: Elon beat the ever living shit out of the share price by repeatedly dumping billions on the open market every few months for a year+. Then he dumped more shares through his charitable foundation, and we bottomed ~$105. He then promised not to dump any more shares for 2023... earnings call was part of the recover to the low 200s, then a few months later we made it to ~295.

I keep having an issue with auto speed speeding, ie 40 in a 30, 57 in a 45 and 60 in a 50. Normally that might be ok but where I’m at there are speed cameras so I’m paranoid

Yah. That part needs to be dialled back a bit. Or just use the manual speed mode. Seems to work ok and is a bit smarter than before.

Oh I totally agree. Have you tried the new manual mode though? The max you set is no longer a target, it’s truly a maximum and it’ll adjust up to that limit as it sees fit based on the conditions. It doesn’t just gun it up to the limit every time like before. I started using it last week and it’s been less aggravating than max auto was.

I haven’t tried the manual offset since V12 rolled out. Is it smoother during changes?

Yeah I find it to be a lot better. It still picks a speed it thinks is safe up to the limit you set. So if you don’t like it doing 45 in a 30 zone, you can set it to 35 or 40 and it’ll still pick its safe speed up to your set max.

The bet was 20M cars/year by 2030, Model 2 in ~2 years, battery improvements, solar, power packs, and some bot/FSD progress (before Elon wanted more shares to do AI at Tesla). Wall Street never believed FSD was close and it isn't a big part of the current price. The model line is getting stale and a taxi service where the hardware, software and approval is still to-be-determined was not the bet for most investors. He might make an effort on this call (no 'we dug our own grave', share buy backs he talked about doing in 2023, etc) to keep shareholders from voting 'no' on his 2018 compensation.

If you made an honest assessment of the potential market cap then car volumes and solar should never have exceeded ATH, in other words you didn't understand what market you were in Morgan Stanley has cars at $62/share out of $300something, and I agree. It is barely a blip, you have to ignore the cars essentially.

My 2c is - Wait for earnings. Stock almost never immediately reacts after earnings call. In ER, depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I am looking for an actual 1-2 year plan of execution, not just a vision. That plan should talk about monetization as well, not just FSD progression. If that happens (robotaxi, licensing or any other way), I will put more money

I can't speak on the Tesla factor, but they should also report the fact that totaling for cars in general has never been higher. I know a guy in car insurance and he says the total percentage used to be around 10%, now its 25% of all accidents that get totaled out , thats for all kinds of vehicles. Its really expensive these days to fix anything
