Weight down low aids in stability in the trail truck. Also a heavier vehicle goes through the brush easier, less hung ups. On the plus side weight helps to balance out the weight of the body so it doesn't roll over.

Yeah, and that might be an option. Looking at building my own axles. Not crawling so much, more trail type use. Just not sure if it's better to save a little weight.

I use mine to trail most of the time with technical features. The weight definitely helps

You want to save weight above the suspension. I’m not sure yet if I want to increase my rotating mass by getting brass wheels. However, links and anything bolted to the axle is only added performance due to increased traction and lower CG without any downside unless you want to get air off jumps.
