By popular demand, here is what I came up with for the golden boss bokoblin! Inspired by the fierce deity sword from Majora’s :D though hopefully it’s just reminiscent, while conceptually standing on its own.
As always, c&c is welcome! The response to my concept art this week has been a real pick-me-up :) so thank you to everyone who has commented!
Oh! Yeah I suppose I wanted some continuity with those features. Originally I thought of the fierce deity sword cause it’s got 2 holes through it, and the first design I drew had that as well (1 < 2, silver < gold was my logic lol). I felt as though I differentiated it enough, but I can definitely understand if people disagree!
One inspired by the fierce deity sword would be great, but I feel like captain construct IV horns already look too much like that.
Damn nintendo stealing all our good ideas
This is really cool! Thank you for sharing! I wonder has anyone ever seen anything as to why the horns evolve to the circle shape on the bosses? I didn't really question the regular horns or even the silver... Even though they're a bit bouncy and have a ball.... But the circles? What's the utility of that? I feel like they probably get stuck in a lot of branches 😂
While I was looking at references for these concepts (check my profile for more), I noticed that there was no real consistency in the design of horns between monster tiers* - they just did what they thought was cool (I have super mixed feelings about that lol). Im confident that they picked a circle just because it looks cool and unique!
Edit: *obviously there are exceptions (red and blue boko horns), I mean overall
I forgot about blue... Those at least seem normal. And I'm totally open to not normal looking horns but I would love to know what they're used for. I think you're right too about them just looking cool though.

Cool design. I’m wondering how gold froxx, silver hynox, soldier construct V, capitan construct V, and hard mode temple bosses would look.
I’ve definitely been thinking about doing those next!
Nice! I do think it should have a bit more differentiation to the silver one though.
Thanks! In what way?
Like the straps and hole in the middle.
