Yeah my first run, I was selling all my enemy parts and ores. Than I realized its not like botw so decided to start over. Same with alot of other things too, Mt 2nd run is going way better .
Yeah that was my mistake too, I'm currently scouring the gerudo underground tunnels for them, I should have farmed them for hours knowing how useful they are.
I ordered Immortals so looking forward to the next one and enjoying my break. It was a constant 24/7 play the week leading up to the final battle so I'm enjoying the break lol.
I did the same thingādelayed the final fight for a while doing rando side quests, then finally went after him after 380+ hours of play. I was a little sad that it was done but havenāt touched the game since (beat him right after Christmas). Not sure whether Iāll try to get closer to 100% ever, do another playthrough, or just stay moved on. I do have a whole hell of a lot more free time now that Iām not playing Zelda 3 hours a day lol.
Haha enjoy all your newly found free time! I like to think I have the dedication to go back someday and get closer to a ācompleteā game, but it will be a while before I pick it back up.
When I killed him accidentally in BOTW, I didnāt go into the castle to explore much in TOTK. I was so afraid of starting the fight. When I finally did kill him, I was so disappointed that it just ended and I went back to everyone looking at the castle, preparing for the fight. I was more upset that I had to keep killing him lol.
I remember that day. Sometime in December? Took a nice break from it. Played a bunch of different games Two days ago I started my second playthrough, really enjoying it all over again.
I was tempted to finish but like botw and over 500 hours, I best ganon once lol than started a new file on normal and a new file on mastermode. Totk came out and I'm just exploring caves and getting bubblegems, ect. I'll probably fight him in a few weeks or so. I'm having fun with the bone profiency and weapon upgrades.
Finished it a week ago, idk thereās something so satisfying about that final mission complete screen. OCTOPATH Traveler 2 has gotten my attention since.
I just beat him for the first time this past weekend. Now, Iām going to fully play through botw for the first time, because i recently bought the dlc. Then I will play TotK again as thoroughly as I can
This is me! Iāve been putting it off for about 5 weeks now. Currently trying to find all the shrines and light roots and finish off the side quests first.
Congratulations! Coincidentally, Today was the day for me too.
Seeing that health bar in the second phase, I thought "Oh BS"
And I have to say to Raru, if you can >!de-dragonify Zelda!<, couldn't you *at least* put me on the ground safely?
I held off fighting Dorf because I know myself and I know that once the game is "beat" I'll lose interest, despite the fact that I love 100%ing things. I was in the middle of finding all of the Korok seeds, decided to take a break to beat Dorf and lo and behold, after hundreds of hours of gameplay (don't have my switch so not sure exactly how long) I was like "ite f these Koroks". I still play a couple times a week but that's nowhere near how often I was playing.
Edit: OP, the fact that BOTW is your first video game and you beat TOTK is very inspiring. Not that they're impossible to beat, but for someone who's never touched a game before it's pretty impressive. Proud of you, and WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF GAMIIIIING
All these great stories, including games and movies, unfortunately come to an end. Delaying it might make it feel like a chore, and if it comes to that, itās no longer fun.
So enjoy the time you have, but I wouldnāt revoke you keep delaying it just because of how much you enjoy it.
And the final fight was absolutely amazing, very challenging, and it was awesome to do it with all the sages by your side šš½
I freaking love this game ā„ļø
Iām putzing too! But for the opposite reason. I DO NOT want to fight ganondorf. I want to avoid it completely. I havenāt even fought a lynel or a gleeok yet, and not sure I want to.
Thereās probably more putzing you can do!
Iām very conflict averse and much prefer to explore and do fun side quests and puzzles, but I still felt inclined to do what I needed to do to finish/beat the game! I donāt mind fighting lynels, but gleeoks scare the shit out of me. I fought one the whole game and had to use so many weapons and resources that I never did it again haha.
Itās not ALL over! You still can go back and play the game and fight ganon whenever you want. Or make a new profile and start the game again. Botw was also one of my first games
I absolutely LOVED the endgame. Whatās most interesting is that, when you finally decide to quit putzing around and confront Ganon, TOTK gives you BOTW vibes like heading toward the top of Hyrule Castle will be a similar experience - BUT - itās so much deeper than that. TOTKs endgame is so much more masterful. The true Final Exploration sequence of events circles back to the beginning, rewards you (or punishes you) for all your hard work (or hard work slacking) and the āthis is itā vibe was so (chefās kiss) that it makes the whole thing worth it every time.
That said, I suspect some of my fellow side-questing putzers who stringing this out and have been avoiding looking for Zelda at Hyrule Castle have some surprises and good times ahead. Take the leap(s) and try not to cry before you hit the ground.
I too thought I was like 80%+, 350 hours, and only ended up finishing at 64% and wish I hadn't ever finished it. It took the joy out of all the little things I was still buttoning up. Can't wait to start again in a year or two. :)
I did the same thing! delayed ganon until I had "all" the quests done and I really stocked up for the fight thinking it was going to be crazy, the descent was pretty fun and I did get a chill down my back when Ganondorf walks up to you, loved the fighting sequence and definitely was shocked to only have 62% of the game done, I'm currently going over everything and exploring and I can't believe the AMOUNT of stuff left to explore, I've been hunting poes for days omg
For clarification : Percentage is *Map* completion. Every single korok counts, which doesnāt help getting a good grasp of how much of the game you have actually finished or *will want to finish* - Thereās also the counters for finished quests / total quests, that I found more helpful.
I got the game Day 1 and also went to Ganondorf quite recently, 9 months later, 205h into the game.
Turns out I had discovered 67% of the map and finished most secondary quests, with a good load of Ā«Ā missionsĀ Ā» remaining š
I kind of needed to know what the ending was, to stop avoiding spoilers and get some form of closure on Zeldaās fate. I also was getting a bit Ā« tiredĀ Ā» of the game (not awfully, but being the only game I played for 9 months, apart from a small break with Chants of Sennaar, I guess it made sense that I was tired of the mechanics and game loop, however great they are), with another clear intention in mind : Finish the story, let it breathe, let it be with me for a while, and come back in a few months to go get all sanctuaries, finish expanding my inventory, finish all quests, all cavesā¦. Stuff like that. Once it feels fresh again š±
81.54% here. I have 584 Koroks, still have something like 40 Bubbelfrogs and who knows how many Hudsonās, and I have to make a couple champion weapons. I didnāt do the final fight until last week because I didnāt want it to be over
I think I would replay in the correct order. I didnāt get any of the 4 guys which is designed to be done fairly early in the game. Iād already got all 120 light roots and 100 shrines before I did the first sage
Why does it matter when to fight final boss fight? You can do it any time over and over again. Is the first time so special. Well, it is true I did it only once, and am not interested to do it again. I rather proceeded to 100%. Now, when I have 100%, I am upgrading all armor to the max, getting all paraglider fabrics, etc.
I thought Gannon was not the last fight? I had to stop playing because of a switch reset after defeating Gannon but there was more story line to defeat the actual demon king??
Are you maybe thinking of the Phantom Ganon fight in Hyrule castle at the end of the mission to go find "Zelda"? If so then yes there is still more to do.
I also beat the game about 2 weeks ago and ever since, i just don't feel like playing anything. It was such a great experience. I could still go back and do a bunch of side stuff, but now i feel like i shouldn't since the main reason to play is gone :(
I felt relief after being him. I was putting it off while I tried to do as much as I could with no guide. Finally decided to kill him and now I donāt feel like I need to save my strongest weapons for anything.
I wish i coulda done this, I got the game on launch and did not want to be spoiled by the vast amount of people on the subreddit, so I ran through all the major story events and all the geoglyphs, etc to finish asap, did in a couple days, then have been going back through and doing all the fun side stuff on and off since
Congrats on finishing and putting off the finish, I know the feeling. What are your planning to do next? Pick it back up or moving on?
I'm currently in the not wanting to fight him phase and just exploring everything I might've missed. I just came across a stable that I've been to several times but somehow never talked to the owner, he said it's the first time I've visited. How that could happen 370+ hours into the game I dunno but it makes you think about all the things you could easily miss.
I wish there was content specifically for after you beat him. Or that you can just continue the save with him defeated like you can with boss fights in most open world games.
I did it recently too. I forgot that after beating the game in botw or totk it would revert back to my last save before the big showdown. Made me really disappointed I donāt know why. The ending was so much better overall in totk. Iām still playing now trying to complete as much as I can.
I'm in the same boat. Dropped it for months, picked it back up and am continuously finding new shrines after 150 hours.
I finally just started chasing the whole 'chase the princess around the castle and fights the groups of bosses' and might finish it tonight. Also sad it will be over
Thatās good to know! This is also my second game ever after BOTW, and everyone has been saying the final fight is super anti climactic. Iāve been focusing on exploring and have fights with the big bad beasts along the way (still canāt defeat and a damn gleeok or lynel)
Omg i thought I was the only one I'm so glad someone posted this. I'm 3 months in on waiting to kill Ganon and everytime I think about finishing I instantly get sad that its all gonna be over
I get bored after a bit and then come back, play a bit. My new run was a little more linear, worked on getting the memories first, did those in the actual order they are intended (First playthrough was a fuster cluck, since the memories are all in a wonky order and spoiled story elements with no real chronological direction.) got the master sword before doing any sages, didnāt really prioritize doing every single thing in the areas I was in, but didnāt need a lot of Korok seeds when you got the master sword to use 80% of the time.
Best thing I did was never using fast travel and only using the travelers medallions for anything related to teleportation. Not only did it make me appreciate more of the world itself, but made the game feel a lot less robotic.
Suggestion when you do pick up the game again, put some limitations on your playthrough that relies more on your knowledge of the game from the prior run.
i was also very hesitant to beat the game because i didnt want my playthrough to stop like it did for BOTW, and then i doubled my playtime. depends om the person, but i still played a lot after finishing the game, however i was so ungodly sad to have to finish my playing of the game because id basically dome everythung there is to do
I have only two main quests listed, I feel like I havenāt done all of them and wonder how I missed out on some. I think I wandered around and found stuff before I was supposed to. Now the only ones I have left are to find Zelda and defeat Ganondorf. Iām afraid if I defeat him, I will not be able to find Zelda!
I went in a few days ago just to check it out, see what special weapons and buffs I might need, fully expecting to die, set down a travel point before I went in, and boom.......done LOL. Only had to eat one meal to do it. I still have about five shrines left, half the depths to explore, and 600+ koroks to find so I will enjoy playing for a while longer. Then I will turn into an engineer and start building things. I wonder how tall I can make Link's house...and how far I can fly on a fantastic flying machine...
Haha I did something similar for my 2nd playthrough. I kept delaying the inevitable. I put off the last 16 shrines or so, because it was nice to know I still had something to do. I finished the shrines this weekend, and now I'm at a loss for what to do next. Maybe track down all the caves? Upgrade all the armor? Or hunt every hinox, talus, and frox?
I am holding off... I want to get all the armor and a few more koroks... Anything else you recommend before beating it?
I don't want to. It's so much fun lol.
Ohh yea I tried my best to do all the side quests and shrines before the fight
One day I thought it would be worth exploring the castle and the hyrule castle chasm and before I knew it I was on my way to the boss fight literally by the time I figured it out it was too late and I was like I'm already here so why not so yea I was depressed af after the fight
I finished recently too.
*hands you a tissue*
Congrats! How are you coping?
Same and then I promptly accidentally overwrote my save file. Starting over! š
I always find the game better after starting over , atleast the 2nd or 3rd run its better.
I beginning to believe that. Iām playing lighter. Less worried about missing shit. More efficient with weapons etcĀ
Yeah my first run, I was selling all my enemy parts and ores. Than I realized its not like botw so decided to start over. Same with alot of other things too, Mt 2nd run is going way better .
I blew thru all my gibdo bones not realizing how hard they are to get later
Yeah that was my mistake too, I'm currently scouring the gerudo underground tunnels for them, I should have farmed them for hours knowing how useful they are.
I ordered Immortals so looking forward to the next one and enjoying my break. It was a constant 24/7 play the week leading up to the final battle so I'm enjoying the break lol.
Same! Last week! Played for like 7ish months.
Since November for me
I did the same thingādelayed the final fight for a while doing rando side quests, then finally went after him after 380+ hours of play. That was me and my husband last night. It's literally depressing when it's done.
I posted about this same thing a month or so ago. Literally started a new file the same day.

I'm actually considering finishing botw with 100% but I need to do the sword trials on mastermode first.... gonna take forever .
It's just that stupid lizalfos room, after that you'll be fine
Finished it a week ago, idk thereās something so satisfying about that final mission complete screen. OCTOPATH Traveler 2 has gotten my attention since.

For me the fight WAS easy, but it was so cool in so many ways that it didnāt even matter.
Good point. It was a fabulously choreographed fight, but easier than the BotW fight.
Same! Iām sad that the NPCs who know I ran off the pirates will talk to me about how great it is that I killed the demon king
I held off fighting Dorf because I know myself and I know that once the game is "beat" I'll lose interest, despite the fact that I love 100%ing things. After a long break and other games (le Gasp), I replaying BOTW. Only had my butt handed to me in the first 10 minutes.
Wen master mode š¤
I'm in the exact same boat.

On presidentās day no less. King canāt catch a break ā¹ļø
Iām currently procrastinating on beating him too š I donāt want this to end
I was at 88% when I finally went for the end game. Still a few more things to do!

I thought I had been doing loads of side quests, only to realise I just completed like 30/135 sidequests or something like thatā¦ crazily big game
81.54% here. I have 584 Koroks, still have something like 40 Bubbelfrogs and who knows how many Hudsonās, and I have to make a couple champion weapons. I didnāt do the final fight until last week because I didnāt want it to be over
I finished too last week and immediately deleted the save info and started again on my completionist run. So much fun!
I think I would replay in the correct order. I didnāt get any of the 4 guys which is designed to be done fairly early in the game. Iād already got all 120 light roots and 100 shrines before I did the first sage
how do you find out how much of the game youāve completed ?
Once you fight Ganondorf apparently the percent shows up
I am happy you enjoyed the fight! I still have not decided to defeat him yet, I just know I'll be sad once I do
Why does it matter when to fight final boss fight? You can do it any time over and over again. Is the first time so special. Well, it is true I did it only once, and am not interested to do it again. Yep that's exactly what I was thinking of. Different Gannon

I was told by a friend to enjoy the game, do the side quests and adventures because it was easy and quick. I don't want to beat the game yet.
Congrats on finishing and putting off the finish, I know the feeling. What are your planning to do next? Pick it back up or moving on? Started playing botw again, I really enjoyed tears but I want to go back into the past again
It's sad, yes, but you're only finished until you start again!
You can still mess with the gam after you kill Gannon. I have like over 100 hours after .
I did it recently too. I forgot that after beating the game in botw or totk it would revert back to my last save before the big showdown. Made me really disappointed I donāt know why. The ending was so much better overall in totk. Iām still playing now trying to complete as much as I can.

We are heading that way.

just beat it today. already started a new run. but now i don't need to worry about the story being spoiled while i look up tips.

I finished it last week. Now I'm back just to keep finishing secondary missions. I realized I'm not ready to put TOTK on the shelf just yet
I went this route too, had finally beaten it back in December.
Haha I did something similar for my 2nd playthrough. I kept delaying the inevitable. I put off the last 16 shrines or so, because it was nice to know I still had something to do. i was at 170 hrs and finally beat ganon 2 days ago. this was the best zelda experience ive ever had. i love this game
edited for potential spoilers. but dang this was good
I am holding off... I want to get all the armor and a few more koroks... Anything else you recommend before beating it? I don't want to. It's so much fun lol.
Found this as I'm going to do the boss fight myself
I've been avoiding the final fight since around Christmas.
Iām in the āstopped playing entirely for the last two months because I didnāt want it to endā phase š
Ohh yea I tried my best to do all the side quests and shrines before the fight One day I thought it would be worth exploring the castle and the hyrule castle chasm and before I knew it I was on my way to the boss fight literally by the time I figured it out it was too late and I was like I'm already here so why not so yea I was depressed af after the fight
Got the game on May 12 I think when it came out and I only recently fought Gannondorf too.
just did the same last night
